New Name: Cindy
(Optional)Gender: female
What, or who are they willing to lay their life down for?
Cindy, who lets people call her Cinder despite it neither being her name nor a nickname that she established herself, is a rather quiet and reserved kalon, and although some kalons believe that she's soft and kind inside, she really isn't. She's actually a rather scary kal - at least that's what the two other students that she's renting an apartment with,
Lush, and especially
Nova, think -. She sees no point in socialising and would rather stay alone than bother talking to others. By deciding not to talk to other kalons, she has limited her own social skills, making her hesitant to talk to others and limiting her to only saying things when necessary, as well as never sharing her own emotions, which has led her to push them aside. She's very rational, and sees emotionally-led decisions as weak - whether they were made by someone else or herself -, and always follows her intuition if she doesn't have any concrete information, disregarding other kalons' opinions. She's always observing others, and some kals mistake that for a sign that she'd like to be included or that she's looking for friends, and try and talk to her. However, they'll soon realise that she's extremely cold and much too straightforward, and start feeling uncomfortable near her, being creeped out by her mere presence from that point on.
But Cindy just can't help being like that. It's how she is, how she always was as far as she can remember, and although she does her best to stay polite, and always looks and acts generally happy - because she is - , people just never seem to accept the way she is. They do, however, try to take advantage of her, as she appears - and is - quite bright and knowledgeable, and that makes her feel rather uncomfortable. If they push Cindy too far, and actually start hurting her, she can become a real snake too.
What she's always hoping for is to run into someone, who's either like her or not, that understands the way she is and the way she feels, and can respect it. She does encounter kalons like that every now and then, among them her two apartment buddies - who came to terms with her personality over time rather than just accepting it immediately (as these accepting kalons ideally would) - and for that, she's always grateful. Although she never tells them, she really appreciates these kinds of kals and values them above others. She would happily put a lot of effort into doing something for them or even risk her own life to save them, and in a scenario where they could be saved in exchange for someone else's life, she would give up her own - after all, she was never a proper or influential member of society, but they are, and the existence of kalons like them is crucial -.
Plus, they make her feel really happy, and she's got to give something back to them somehow.

Who are you trying out for? AzúcarUsername: Sweet Cinnamon
New Name: I'd like to keep it Azúcar, I think it fits perfectly
(Optional)Gender: male
What is their dream job?
Azúcar walked up to a seat in the front of the bus home and sat down. Next to him was a young female kalon with a nose ring, an R2D2 necklace, and a bracelet with spikes on it, that stood out among her other accessories. She also had earbuds in, and the music was blaring so loudly that he could hear and understand all the lyrics clearly. He kind of felt like singing along, but that would just seem so, so weird. Azúcar wished he could sing freely without getting looks from people, not being confined to karaokes, and times when he was alone, at home or at work. He wished he could do it for a living, make money off of something that he loved so much. He wished he could be a professional singer.
He'd loved singing since he was a child, and played the piano along to his short mock-up songs or choruses in his apartment between work hours. His home was located in Georgetown, in the suburbs of Newcastle, the one in Australia. He had grown up in that village, and never planned on moving away, despite his taste for travelling – he just couldn’t stand the fear of the unknown, and although he knew that admitting that fear was the first step towards overcoming it, he didn't think he'd ever get any further - .
Despite encouragement from his friends, he just couldn't push himself to just try and enter the music industry, write an album and get it published, or anything like that – he was always anticipating failure, and couldn't seem to get himself to do it by fear of that outcome – even given how much he would enjoy it and the fact that he had nothing to lose - .
Honestly, failure would probably be enough to deter me from ever trying it again, he thought to himself.
He was also rather satisfied with his current job as an aircraft engineer, and felt happy just singing at work. But that dream of his would always be in the back of his head, nagging him, as would his friends.
They really just want the best for me, and believe that I should follow my dreams, he told himself. They think it's actually possible for mine to come true.
However, in the three years that went by since his 20th birthday, Azúcar had been secretly compiling short musical compositions, that he was turning into proper songs, and he would soon have a full album, which he promised himself to get published one way or another once he was finished writing it. Listening to what he’d done so far always made him happy, although he didn't think he'd ever be able to push himself to do anything more than publish it, unless it was a success.
Well, apart from maybe just publishing... just a
few more songs... given the fact that I enjoy writing them so much. After all, I’m not going to stop writing just because others don’t appreciate my work!
And although he'll never admit it to anyone, his illogical fears really are the only thing standing between him and his lifelong dream, his childhood fantasy of being a popstar, and even though he's been letting them take over-
I'm steadily gaining control over my own mind again.
