Personality: Tari is a bright girl with a free spirit, she dreams of one day flying high and free. She dreams of being free from her obligations and her prison. But there is also a small part of her that fears the unknown, she fears leaving the confines of everyday routine and creating her own path. She can be a very cunning and even manipulative Kalon but that is because of her past and the need for secrecy in order to stay alive.
Brief History: I kinda had to go over 300 words in order to tell everything. Hope that is alright.
Tari's mother was one of the most renowned Priestess across the Middle Lands, so Egypt wished to make her theirs. In order to stave off a war Tar's mother was given as a gift to Egypt and became their most prized possession. Tari's mother was with child when this all happened and only a few short months later Ta-er al-Usfar was born. Tari's mother knew that her daughter would be well protected in the palace but only if Tari could harness The Sight. Tari grew up protected by the fame of her mother but when she came to the age where she should have gotten her powers they never came. So fearing her daughters life Tari's mother began to teach her ways to deceive the royals who craved The Sight.
After years of training in deception Tari's mother died, leaving her daughter to become The High Priestess of Egypt... a title that Tari knew she didn't deserve but in order to survive she must continue to live a lie. But after many fake prophecies and readings she anger began to fill her slowly, anger about the life that she never had... a life that she could have. So she began to plan her escape, the plan had to be elaborate in order to work because the royals were not going to let her go without a fight and if she were caught she feared what they would do to her, or the small yellow canary she called her own.
A few months later her plan was finally ready and with her canary free of it's cage she ran, her plan went off without a hitch until a guard was not where he should have been and the chase was on. She ran towards the only place she would feel free if she got away, she ran to the water to the river that ran through the city. She lost the guards in the folds of the crowd, sneaking onto a small ship and praying noone would find her.
The ship took her to another dock, this one leading to the ocean. But her freedom was still being tested, the guards had sent word to look for her and soon she was once again being chased. She dove through the crowds onto another ship this one being led by pirates, that is how she went from being a Princess to being a Pirate. She still keeps the headdress that her mother had fashioned for her, as a memory to never let herself become a prisoner again.
ExtrasThe Captain of the ship was kind... which surprised the young kalon who stood on the deck of the pirate ship. The captain had given her sanctuary and a way to travel the world as part of her crew. It had been about a week since her escape from Egypt and the ship was carrying them South, towards an island that the pirates called home. Even though the pirates were accepting of their new crew member... well as long as she pulled her weight, there was something that was holding Tari back. Closing her eyes she felt her black hair being pulled backwards as the wind pushed it away from her face, this is what it meant to feel free. This feeling is what she could only describe as flying but without the wings. Flight... wings, that was what she was missing. A small hole in her heart where her little Tecu once called home, the small yellow canary that was once imprisoned along with her. She hoped that the little bird had made it out of the palace and into the open air.
Opening her eyes she saw the island coming into view, the small sliver of green slowly becoming a large forest of all different shades."Wow... it's huge..." she whispered, her eyes bright as she felt a presence beside her. "This is home... a safe haven that we pirates call home. Many think of us as savages, stealing from ships and towns in our path. But we are only doing what we can to survive. This island follows rules that are set in place to protect us all, whatever rivalries are between two ships stays on the sea. I will teach you these rules and I hope you follow them." The Captain said, her eyes locked on Tari as she spoke. "I will do my best not to let you down Captain." she replied and with a nod the other female left. It was then that she noticed a small shadow flitting back and forth beside her and to her astonishment there stood the little yellow canary.
"Here's to our new lives Tecu." she said picking up her little companion and placing the chirping creature on her shoulder.
