Prize is only needed if your battling someone else, and if you fight the mantice and win he wont join you due to wild dragons only joining others of there breed. It is mentioned in the info.

Ah i see you have stumbled into the battle ground. Here users can put up there bug dragons to fight other users dragons for prizes or just to train there Bug dragons and level them up. Sometimes, Wild Bug Dragons will show up, looking for a challenge, when this happens you need to post the battle form for there challenge and hope that your bugs win and impress the wild bug dragon enough to have it join you. Only bugs of the same breed can tame a wild Bug dragon.But you can always fight Bug dragons with different breed bug dragons, if you just want to see how they will fair. You can also send in group's to fight, but they can only fight agents other groups. If a group of wild dragons shows up you will need to form a group with some other user's dragons to stand a chance of getting them all, if you send a group of your own to fight you'll most likely only get one from the group if you win.

Congrats we found you a very interesting Beetle dragon. Though she savaged a fair few of us with her horn, we never knew Beetle Dragons had such an aggressive side. While you work on getting her trust i think we will go and bandage our arms.

We found you a very intresting Male Beetle dragon. He looks like a paint horse a bit,and is slitly bigger then normal.
