Why thank you. Better late than never, eh? Nah, I'm just kidding. The thread is still pretty new, so you got here just in time. c:

Username: VintageIllusionist
Desired Somnei: #4
Somnei name: Kuro Jinx [Literally, "Black Jinx".]
What will it be used for?: Mostly art, maybe an animation here and there.
Reason for wanting one: Generally, I love this species altogether. I used to be afraid of the dark, even when my grandmother made up "Dream Dragons" for me that 'appeared' whenever I said a few select words aloud. The fact that there's a made-up species specifically for things like those makes me feel warm. I've also been stalking this since you made it ... I was in love when I first saw the lineart.<3
Describe your Somnei: -- is a sweet Somnei with a shy temperament. It loves to hang around children with secret dreams and desires, slipping into their dreams to make them appear lucid. Oftentimes, it can be seen wearing a gleaming bell around its neck, tied to a red ribbon. Even though it partially lives in the shadows, its general love for good dreams can be heard in every jingle of its golden bell.
Username: I'm It's.My.Life., pleased to make your acquaintance.
Desired Somnei: Oh my, so many wonderful creations...I would have to say #3.. 'his' patterns remind me of a, well, skeletal kind of look. As well, I have been thinking about which Somnei was right for me and he just stood out among the crowd. Sure, all of them are beyond awesome, but he just kind of gave me a feeling like he was the one.
Somnei name: This Somnei's name would be Anamchara, which means "soul friend" and "spiritual adviser" in Irish. But its general name would be Anam.
Reason for wanting one: Oh, so many reasons.. where shall I begin..? First of all, how could you not want one? The design is superb and the general idea is just.. wow. The power behind their slender bodies also gathered up my attention, and their history just wrapped it up with a nice red bow. Someone would have to be crazy to not want anyone one of them. Also, they idea of how they can change how you dream is fascinating with the thought of how they could be real *in an essence*, I suppose. :3
What will it be used for? I will be using Neko as, well, almost everything. He definently has a spot in my signature and will have a page dedicated to him as my first forum blog and will be drowning in art once I get my sketch board all nice and fixed up after my laptop is. I'll be making an avatar with his face so I can show him offto everyone who sees my user's page and my posts.
Describe your Somnei: He's sweet and a friendly spirit who endulges himself in the dreams of young adults with the ability to change the world someday. He works their dreams into one of creativity, giving them ideas of future worlds and ideas. He's a calm soul, but if he finds a dream with violence and torture of human or animal, he'll affect the human or beast himself by altering the dream to make the dreamer awake in cold sweats. Sure, he isn't the one who causes nightmares, but the slightest twist of a dream and the dreamer could get the idea. Although his deadly appearnace, he can be quiet a softy when it comes to a child's dream. He merges it into a soft design that appeals to him and the dreamer at most. He also has soft feathers laced into his gentle mane from one child he let himself appear to, and he has never taken out the dark pigeon-like feathers.
Write a short story for your Somnei:
6 years prior...
I lay flat in my bed with the silk blankets pulled up to my chin, my small hands clutching the outer stitching of the smooth silk sea. My mother had just turned out the small lamp on my oak bedside table, making me nervous. I was never good with the dark of an empty room (sad to say the same at the moment) and I stayed still, not moving from my chilling position. I try to ignore the dark shadows that my mind played with, casting large men and dastardly criminals. I curl up into a tight fetal position, my mind racing as my eyes shut. Nothing is there.. just fall asleep.. nothing will harm you.. The distant voice rang in my ears for a few minutes, to startle to move. The voice was soft and delicate, like a petal from a spring flower. Should I believe it or grow concern? I relax my tense muscles, deciding to obey as my auburn bangs hang over my eyes, itching my nose. I drift off into tender sleep as something warm lays against me, but it felt so distant...
The soft glow of the sun played along my rosy cheeks as I gather sparkling oyster shells, loving the design on the inside. The waves were calm and peaceful, as serene as the dream was. I pile up the shells before taking the hem of my dress and folding it up like a basket and I place each shell gingerly inside. Something sudden lands on my shoulder and I found it natural, like it was supposed to be there. I glance over to notice a small-bodied creature that shone with a tender orange glow. What was this?
"Hello," I say softly in interest as I let go of my dress and the shells clatter to the soft sand below. The small creature tilts its head with the grey ears perked, intent on each word I spoke. I reach over with my small, pudgy hands and lift the small thing from my shoulder and it squirmed at the sudden touch, alarming me.
"I won't hurt you. Promise," I say in a soothing tone as I would with my puppy. I hold it to my chest as one hand strokes its head and along its neck, my fingers slipping through its shining mane as it felt tense. The setting sun blared down on us, the waves becoming harsher with the soft sea breeze.
"What's your name?" I ask, the general question for all seven-year-olds when they meet someone new. Anam replies the creature without moving a muscle, it's soft nectarine-colored eyes staring deeply into mine. The antenna like structures on its forehead shone as its slender tail wrapped itself around my arm soothingly. The touch seemed so.. surreal, but I could actually feel it.. in my dreams.
I get pulled out of the dream suddenly with the soft touch still wrapped around my small arm as my auburn bangs covered up my eyes. I swipe them away feverishly, hating it when that happens. Should I look, or just leave it? I think, referring to the touch on my arm. I let my gut instinct take over and my eyes wonder from my arm and I hold in a sudden intake of breath. What was this thing up against me? It was an exact replica of the creature in my dream, making me worry spread. I reach out with my free hand tentavily torwards the creature and its head whips forwards, staring at my with its calming orange eyes. Its prints were skeletal like, with a white circle around the eyes and to the beginning of its hairline. It was around the size of a large dog, laying along the side of me like my puppy would every night. Thankfully he wasn't hear now. Something told me to trust this unknown being, and I followed the instict, not wanting to doubt myself. This was a lot to put on a child! It then almost gave me a smile before disappearing into the night with its bright orange glow leaving a gentle haze in the room like it was still there...
I never told a soul about that night, and it's happened a few times since then with the same small creature. It always left with its unique smile, almost close to a smirk as if to tease me like it wasn't even there. I'm always looking forwards for the same familiar touch, the same orange glow.
Here's a quick sketch I made on paper, and there will be more to come. (Sorry about it not being oekaki, I can't draw well with a mouse. -.-)
