Name: Cypher
Species: Wolf Rider
Personality: Cypher is an odd wolf rider. Unlike the others, he has a strong and grim attitude. While the other Wolf Riders tend to be carefree and relaxed, he's always on the edge, waiting for some sort of trouble to put up. He's skilled at keeping his expressions hidden when the time comes. He's more of a leader, some would say. Always able to think up of a solution to a problem. He can be fierce in battle and loving to the cubs of the Wolf Riders. He's completely loyal to his clan, even though they irritate him sometimes from being so carefree.
Likes: Cypher likes going on adventures. He also loves to read old texts from the ancestors before them. He's written many of his own texts, but mainly he always finds himself on his favorite rock in the middle of a small and shallow river that always seems to glow with serenity. The trees surround the small clearing and the light shines down, warming the rock and creating the perfect place for him to relax and think.
Dislikes: He dislikes how none of his siblings seem to have a care for the world. he hate's knowing that there's a whole world out there that's been unseen or undiscovered and that he's the only one who wants to see it. He desperately wishes someone from his family would come with him, but they always decline. Most of all, he hates how people scorn his father's name.
Background: When Cypher was only a pup, his parents had just joined the Wolf Riders that lived in the forest Jeran. Everyone knew from the instant that he was born that he was different. He was fiercely loyal and whenever someone laughed at his sisters or brothers, he growled fiercely and challenged them, even though he was only a pup. The closet person to Cypher was his father. His father was proud of him and he always made him feel special and not lonely. They went on different adventures, going from place to place within the woods. But it was always in the woods, never outside them. Soon, Cypher began to grow restless. Finally, when he reached the age of young adult, he traveled farther into the woods than he had ever done and stumbled upon the clearing which he later named Everon. He brought his father there and they shared the clearing together.
His father told him old stories of when he had lived outside the forest of Jeran. How they had traveled over mountains and seas and had seen many strange creatures. He explained how his family had been Fighting Wolf Riders. Eager to learn more, Cypher begged his father too teach him how to fight and hunt. Much to his surprise, his father agreed eagerly and they began to work. Cypher trained for years and years. Everyday, their was a new task and a new challenge. After he had learned all his fighting moves from his father, his father started teaching him about poisons, building his immunity to them. Many times, Cypher fell ill. But soon, he grew so immune that not even The Black Death berry could harm him.
Then one day, his father left. Not a single word the others not a single goodbye. he had left in the middle of the night, leaving the sleeping Wolf Riders. Cypher, upset, followed his father's trail. being the best tracker, he soon found where his trail ended. It ended, at the edge of the forest. For many days, Cypher mourned for his father. But he was the only one who did. The others laughed and put shame upon his father's name, saying that they had warned. Finally, Cypher snapped. One of the younger, more arrogant Wolf Riders called his father something unforgivable and Cypher attacked him. Caught by surprise, the fight was quickly over, with Cypher standing over the body of the Wolf Rider. Since then, the others feared him and avoided him, shying away. But no matter how terrifying he became, they still talked scorn upon his father. Cypher continued his training, taking it to the extremes.
One day, he came back to camp and found the Wolf Riders weeping in misery. When he asked the Wolf Riders what had happened, they just looked at him with sorrow and shook their heads. Growing fearful, Cypher went looking for his mother and siblings. He didn't find them. For days on end, he searched and searched until at last, his searching led him to the Thunder Gorge. It was relatively big, but it was short and ended only a few miles down. But he soon found, that it was dangerous and deadly. Down in the gorge, lay a pit of stakes. Their, Cypher found his family, dead. Distraught, Cypher went back to the other Wolf Riders to find them done their mourning. By himself, he wandered into the clearing he had named Everon and their, he wept. For five days and five nights he mourned, not eating or drinking. Finally, he got up and hunted.
Being weak, he caught little. But as he ate and drank, he became strong once again. Done his mourning and once again filled with fierce power, he went back to the other Wolf Riders and declared that he would become their leader. With protest, they agreed. Being slightly surprised himself, Cypher decided that, when he knew he was strong enough and that he was ready, he would set out of the forest Jeran, appointing someone else the leader, and travel to the lands of his father. As he traveled, he would search for him. If he found him, he would start a group of his own, gathering wandering Wolf Riders and outcast rouges.
If not, then he would become a rouge and wander the lands. Finally, after three years, he's decided it's time. He appoints Seryi, a male Wolf Rider who has an odd Wolf Rider personality that's mixed with leadership. With not a single goodbye and a single look back, he heads out into the woods, his eyes set and determined. As he reaches the edge of the forest, he slows and finally, he stops. Just inches from leaving the forest. "No Fear." He breathed. Then he stepped out into the world unknown to him. He set off at a brisk pace, racing across the grassy meadows that thrived in front of Jeran forest.
He gazed at the area's around, wandering in awe through the ruins of the humans, gazing at the castles long fallen on the mountains sides. Cypher always believed that the humans had a reason for building those castles and buildings, but he always wondered, why leave them in ruins? Why not rebuild them? He raced across the badlands, chased by the Wild Lions that lived there. There, he had his first fight with a Wild Lion. it was a male, around his age. It was large and strongly built. But Cypher was smart and lithe on his paws. He dodged the lion's blows, occasionally taking a claw or a bite to evade other attacks.
Finally, he saw an opening and with a swift slash of his long and curved talons, he slashed the Wild lion's throat open. Wounded from his first Wild Lion fight, he stumbled into old ruins in the Badlands and he lies beneath the sun, waiting for death with sorrowful eyes. But it never came. When Cypher awakes, he realizes that his wounds were healed and that a small black and blue feather lay in front of him. He had gazed at it, wondering at it's size. It was large and the blue tips gleamed like the sea. He had taken the feather and he had put it into the fur behind his shoulder, making sure that it won't move.
Then Cypher began his journey again, moving into the more wild areas. He crossed the ravines and the mountains, wondering at the beauty of the land before him whenever he stood upon a mountain cliff. Finally, he reached the sea. He skirted it's edges warily. For the sea was a mighty thing that breathed in an out and whenever it breathed, it seemed to take something with it and something else washed back up. Ad it was strong and powerful and once you were in it's clutches it would be reluctant to let you go. But Cypher craftily skirted the ocean by going through the forest paths instead, encountering animals beyond his imagination. He encountered the Sythe's. Venomous snake like creatures that where rather rude and sly. But not as sly and cunning as Cypher.
He tricked them with cunning words and sly tricks. Leaving in triumph, he left the forests and soon he came upon the lands of the Warrior Wolf Riders. he had entered warily, recalling stories his father had told him.
"They fight like no tomorrow. Their claws are as sharp as the cold winter's bite and their teeth are as sharp as a snack's mouth. They listen if you speak crafty words or if you speak truth. Don't lie or you will find yourself at death's door before you can cover it up again."
His father had said. But no matter how far he wandered, he only caught faint glimpses of them, watching him from behind boulders or from high mountain ledges. He knew that they watched him, pondering whether or not he was a threat to them. Finally, came the day of judgment. Cypher had been walking through a small and cold stream when he had heard a howl of pain, abruptly cut off. He had raced through the river, racing across the dry and sandy landscape to come upon a strange horrifying sight.
A Warrior Wolf Strider, a young pup, was defending herself against a large raptor like bird. it's talons constantly close din on her, trying to grab her and crush the life out of her. With a roar of rage, Cypher leaped at the bird and hooked his claw's into it's wings. The raptor bird screamed and tried to throw him by doing loops through the sky and flying high in the air and then turning upside down for long periods of time. But Cypher clung on, his life depending on how long he could hold on. Finally, the raptor bird grew weary of flying so high and flew lower.
Quickly, Cypher delivered a killing blow to the back of the Raptor Bird's neck and it dropped like a stone. Cypher jumped off the bird before it landed, stumbling onto the ground, unused to the steady feeling. He turned to the young Warrior Wolf Strider and he found it lying on the ground. He rushed to it and he licked it's wounds, trying to cease the bleeding. He heard mutterings around him, but he ignored them.
"Help!" he howled to the Warrior Wolf Striders that had been watching. Suddenly, his head grew heavy, as if a spell had been cast upon him. Slowly, his head sank to the ground and his lights dimmed. The last thing he saw, was the paws of large feet as they approached him.
When Cypher awoke, he was lying in the back of a warmly lit cave. He opened his eyes half way and watched the Warrior Wolf Riders around him tend to the fire and the female Warrior Wolf Rider who had been hurt. Then he realized something and he sat bolt upright. Instant Regret. Black swam in his vision and he fell back down. A Warrior Wolf Rider noticed him and walked over, smiling softly. "Rest easy, young warrior. You deserve it..." He whispered. Cypher closed his eyes and heard no more.
For three days he rested and drank only. Finally, on the fourth day, he woke up and walked over to the still healing Warrior Wolf Rider he had rescued. She had a beautiful sandy color to her pelt with streaks of red in it. She also had a mark on her flank, but this one was a tooth and a half shield, signifying her as a warrior. "I'm awake." Came a beautiful voice from her. He started and he turned and saw her icy blue eyes watching him. "Thank you, lord, for saving me." She whispered. Cypher cocked his head in confusion.
Lord? Then he remembered his own mark. It signified him as a king's mount, making him something like a king among these warrior Wolf Riders. He smiled slightly. "You don't have to call me that. My name is Cypher." He said softly. She smiled as well. " Everon." She breathed. Then she laid her head down adn went back to sleep. Cypher had watched her with a soft emotion on his face.
For the five weeks he remained with the Warrior Wolf Riders, learning to hunt like them and run and fight in all areas. Finally, he knew it was time to leave. As he was setting out, he sensed somebody following him. When he turned, he saw Everon. She had odd metal armor covering her paws and her back. But otherwise she was smiling softly at him as she padded up to him. "I'm coming." She said firmly, fixing him in her gaze. Cypher couldn't protest. Not with those beautiful Icy blue eyes holding him there. He just smiled and the two set off.
Nothing dared attack the two with a Warrior Wolf Rider around. Cypher learned that she had a strong, yet brave personality, protecting those with her life. She always had a soft smile on her face and was easily able to laugh a tense matter off. Cypher was in awe of her and finally, the day came when he made a choice. They had arrived into a beautiful land filled with the beautiful stone ruins on the cliffs. They had traveled to the top of a large cliff and had found a beautiful ruin of a castle and they had taken shelter in their. The view was perfect. The sea was just below them and the forest a few ways off to the east.
The food was plenty and the ruin provided excellent shelter and protection so finally, Cypher asked Everon the question that had been nagging him. "Everon..... Will... Will you be my mate?" he had whispered. Everon had softly smiled and the stars above had made her eyes glow. "Yes. Of course Cypher." She whispered. Then the two retired to the ruins, happier than anything. Cypher and Everon decided to make the cliff ruins their home and they did. Cypher marked their territory while Everon prepared to give birth to the pups that were coming. Finally, the day came and Everon gave birth to two beautiful pups. They were twins, but one was a male and the other was a female.
" I shall name the female, Revin." She whispered. Then she looked to Cypher and Cypher smiled. "Then the male shall be Sythe." He had whispered. Revin had her mother's beautiful sandy red colored fur, but she had Cypher's eyes and his personality. Sythe had Cypher's handsome pelt, but he had his mother's eyes and personality. While Everon cared for their pups, Cypher left and went searching for the special white pain they used to make marks. Carefully, he drew the marks of a warrior on his daughter's flank. Then after consideration, he drew the mark of a king's mount on his son's flank.
Something inside him knew he had done the right thing. That night, he lay beneath the star's gazing at the moon. His mate and the pups slept behind in the ruins, silent peace. "One day, I'll find you father. I hope your proud of me." he whispered to the sky. Something inside him knew his guess was right. he wouldn't find his father. Not until the silent peace became eternal. But he was happy. he had a family, a home, and the stars to look upon. He stood up and proudly stood on the edge of the cliff, letting the scents of the sea spray his face. "And one day..." he whispered, opening his eyes. "I will find the humans and we shall become Wolf Riders once again." he breathed.
To this day, Cypher, Everon, Sythe, and Revin live on the cliff and in the ruins, waiting for the humans to come once again.
Information: Wolf Riders are large wolves that usually live in packs of 10-20. Their abnormally large for wolves and tend to be carefree and relaxed. Wolf Riders used to be ridden by humans, but when the humans disappeared, they retreated into the wild and forgot. Back then, Wolf Riders used to be fast, strong, loyal, and brave. having quick sharp minds and cunning plans. Cypher's father was one of the wolves that still kept to the old ways, soon passing them down to his son. Like the mark on his leg, the Wolf Riders before them had different marks, symbolizing them as their human's mount. Cypher's mark symbolizes him as a human king's mount.
