If anyone can accurately guess my reasoning for all the lineart choices and the twins, I'll give you all a big plate of cookies =D

XD yes, name changes allowed for some of them. Why do I always forget that part?

oh, and ~Japandora~, I was thinking. You said you have a connection to Sapphires, have you looked into 'power stones'? I don't know much about them, but Sapphires may be something like that for you =3

I don't know for the twins, maybe the dark and light face of the moon?
But for the others is this an analogy with the human life ? (baby, teen/adult, adult/old)

Hmm... I'm guessing that Stargazer's mane is white to represent a full moon, which is why there aren't as many stars on her, and Milky Way's mane is black to represent a new moon, which is why there are more stars on her?
