Series #8: March 3, 2011Tracker Dog #25 I Available until March 9Gender: Undecided
Because of the lion-ish looks, this Tracker looks male, but the purple seems to indicate female. Nex can't tell you, she forgot, so she'll allow the next owner to see which gender it'll be. Think of it as a surprise.. Anyway, this Tracker is loyal, strong and brave, originally made for nightly missions, but it might as well be used during the day. It's a bit energetic, so it's advised to keep the Tracker outside.
♫♪Singing Silence♪♫♥Username♥EmberThorn
♥Tracker Dog I want♥#25
♥Name I'll give it♥Silent Melody
♥Nicknames♥Song, Silence, Vi, 25, Mel and Cub
♥Reasons behind the name♥She reacts to music in a way no tracker dog ever has before, it can dictate her mood, if a calming piece comes on she will be calm. The silence is because she never makes a sound, so totally silent but her streamlined body and acute senses sing out, she is totally flawless in her handler's eyes.
♥Reason why I want it♥ I've always loved the wild trackers, they are so stunning and sort of remind me of myself sometimes, not my exterior but my dishevelled interior, anyone that knows me will know that I can be very opinionated and live by my own rules, but I let others hurt me, so the fact this looks like a tracker dog that could be bold on the outside but hurt by every criticism would really suit me. The ragged and not self-conscious approach of the design is like me on the inside, Missy, the last tracker I applied for reminded me more of me on the outside, more superficial. I scrapped the old story as I didn't have the heart for it anymore and I will begin a new one, centered around this tracker for you. She is more the sort of tracker that I would spill more about my difficulties into, she'd be more like the best friend I could confide in which I never had. I've been through some pretty rough times, seen some pretty awful things, I'm mentally scarred in that way and that was what the markings on her back reminded me of, and the fact they are white symbolises hope for a better future past the grey and I think that's what I'll write about. She would be a great friend to my fursona, an outgoing but inwardly cringing wolf, seen in horse form in my signature. She is absolutely beautiful and it would lighten an awful period of my life that I'm having at the moment.
♥What I will do if I win her♥added this section just to allow myself to dream.
First of all I would write countless stories of her adventures, her love for Aaliyah and her job and the great commitments and burdens it brings. As well as having pride of place in my siggy many of my pets would be given out for art of her, so much art she'd of course need her own spot on my character thread and her special spot in my heart. I can offer the utmost care and attention to her and will ofcourse love her and care for her. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure many other people would love her and dearly want her, but I can offer my whole heart, every inch of it, although even this doesn't do her justice. She may becom mascot for most of my threads and I would always be there ready to look after her and perhaps rp her a little with your permission, of course. Basically I WILL be running round the house screaming and hugging everybody in sight I'd be so insanely ecstatic to win her ♥
♥Will it be used in any kind of story?♥Ofcourse, you will see the beginning in the introduction to the tracker, but if I win her I'll finish it and make a thread for her. My plan is for her to be placed with Laylah and for a relationship to form quickly, they have to rely on each other to survive but one day readings pick up that a storm will hit, but when Laylah leaves, Mel refuses to leave the dogs on the sled team and works to keep them alive by finding food in the ways Laylah had demonstrated. It obviously has alot more depth but after a few months it is clear for Laylah, annoyed after being dragged away from the camp, toreturn to see if her beloved tracker and sled team were still there. Obviously it will have alot more depth but that is the loose outline.
♥Theme Song♥All the things she said - t.a.T.u
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8mGBaXPlri8 for personal reasons I'd rather not explain.
♥Poem♥But the song being sung,
Deep in my soul,
Cannot be heard,
Cannot be told,
Though I hear you sister,
In the back of my head,
Whispering back,
All those things she said.
--again this is focused on being hurt by words even if you can't show it on the exterior, it's how I always feel and the words said by loves lost that repeat themselves in the back of your head, making their own melodies, they're always with me (r.i.p.)
♥Its personality♥•♥•
~Practical~
Being very much the tomboy Mel looks down on luxuries and all unneccessary or excessiveness, even of emotion. Therefore she only gives off small indications of her mood but can be very sweet. She hates any sort of comfort and anything that goes to waste upsets her. The only thing she posesses to excess is energy, but that is not put to waste as she always exerts as much effort as possible and often runs the sled almost by herself with the huskies only having to do minimal work to stay in rank behind her.
•♥•
~Patient~
She is very understanding and will spend hours waiting in the same place for her handlers return. She is very good at being on the ball and ready for instruction for very long periods of time and can effectively "hibernate for about a week if there was no care for her, meaning if she had to be left she could almost put herself on standby.
•♥•
~Brave~
Mel isn't afraid, not of death, not of anything... apart from losing her handler, she fears only for others' safety, never her own. She is very good at guiding, fearless to test out a track, bridge or patch of Ice first, she needs to be brave to perform her job properly and ensure a safe journey for all with her. Although she can sometimes doubt herself she is constantly being told not to put herself down and to think positive.
•♥•
~Loyal~
She never lets you down, once given a location to get to without hazard she will be determined to complete it and stays totally focused on the tasks in hand. She needs to be well trained to perform well in such dangerous situations and her relationship with the handler relies entirely on a balance of trust. She trusts Laylah to keep her safe and she trusts her to do as she’s told and complete expeditions.
•♥•
~Submissive~
Very quick to surrender to another's will especially those she trusts, she will never put up a fight and when threatened by another tracker she would rather run than argue. She will only stand to fight if it will help a situation or save a life other than her own, no matter what threatens her. This may appear shameful or cowardly but she does it not only to protect herself but also all the people she works to save from dangerous situations. She isn't genuinely afraid, just completely passive and non-aggressive. She has to be very calm to perform her job to the best of her ability and fighting is counter-productive.
•♥•
~Intelligent~
As well as having the physical abilities and mental attitude to perform well in stressful, freezing and dangerous situations she has to be incredibly smart to sniff out a weak spot and find where the real danger lies in order to avoid it. She would make an excellent companion for the human form of my fursona, hance how both dictate my personality and together it would dictate my thoughts, feelings and even past, totally. Whilst being loyal and hard working she has to be smart when Laylah needs her to work at something that Laylah can't get close to herself without making the situation dangerous.
•♥•
~Alert~
It is required that she be attentive at all times so as to spot any possible thin ice, wild animals, landslides and any other natural occurence that could cause death or serious injury to the whole team. She must thoroughly investigate all suspicions and be completely sure that a path is safe before leading them onto it. If she was not aware at all times then a crack could slip past her watchful eye and a member of the team culd be lost purely because of her lack of attention.
•♥•
~Restless~
It is not only very important she doesn’t get tired but to function and perform to her full potential she needs to always have the energy to be aware and react reflexively in tough and stressful situations. Her high energy level and extreme stamina also allow her to focus on any game which also makes her very easy to train and an even nicer family pet. As well as having the physical ability to keep going she also has the mental advantage of being able to stay focused.
•♥•
~Inquisitive~
This can sometimes help and sometimes hinder a mission, but she has this love of investigating. If she doesn't know even the tiniest thing, if there's one secret successfully kept from her, it will drive her insane until she finds out. She holds a thirst for knowledge and a hunger for a mystery which clash, so that when a mystery is solved she is still dissatisfied and must find another to work on. This can be irritating to her handler and her carer as her nose is in everything and she can’t stop finding ways to cause trouble with her curiosity.
•♥•
~Easygoing~
Has no issues with being told what to do, but is always ready to take control of a situation if it puts anyone in danger and only picks out commands that will help to listen to. However, this method of elimination means there is little room for guidance and if her judgement isn't entirely accurate it could prove to be fatal to the whole team. Selectiveness means that as long as she is accurate she can still do as Aaliyah commands whilst adding in fack Aaliyah didn't ave to paint a clear picture of what to expect and ensure the most safety possible.

♥Proposed job and handler♥Handler: Aaliyah
Aaliyah, my fursona. is a headstrong, independent woman who must rely on Mel to perform well or her life could be put at risk. She is only 17 years old but acts much more mature and works hard to prove herself as a civilised and intelligent adult. Being the youngest person to work with marine life in the Arctic and its brutal conditions she must strive to keep her position. A tracker was given to her to help out with the work and to guide the sled team as well as keep her company after the unfortunate death of her human companion, Liam.
Proposed job:
Mel, as a wild tracker, would be suited to help Laylah in her cold workplace to guide the sled team and help them to shift the load and scientific equipment used. She would take front position and if she suspects danger, Laylah will stop the sled to allow her out of the harness to investigate. She would also be of great use as a guard dog, to warn them of danger as she prefers to sleep outside, although very few humans come to pass.

♥An introduction for my Tracker♥~
Aaliyah sat at the window of the thick-walled rural log cabin, awaiting the arrival of her new partner. She had been told she had been through months of discipline and training before being assigned the mission. Still being young, although professional, she was very excited just to have some human company again. She had loved Liam and it still stung that she had to work without him, that she had to try her best to live through each day in the harsh land that he had always brightened. Refusing to think about it any more she pushed back the tears and continued to wait
~
When the van, equipped with radar equipment and heavy snow chains pulled up her heart continued to pound and she flung open the door to run into the eastward wind which carried a light snow drift. Expecting the front passenger door to open she became surprised when the muscular driver, appearing to be aged around thirty opened the back of the truck and rolled out a large cage.
"What's this? I was waiting for company to arrive, I don't need another husky." Aaliyah shouted over the roaring winds, her voice being carried off with the dancing snowflakes.
"This IS your company ma'am, with all due respects, another human would be of little use. This tracker dog is well equipped to deal with these climates and very good at preventing the sort of unfortunate accident that took Liam, but this one will need to be kept out side, no matter how cold."
"Don't speak of Liam." She barked, her eyes welling up, "I've heard of the trackers. Open it then."
She waited expectantly for an unneeded mutt to poke its head out of the cage, and was surprised when a blind creature, which looked like it had had some serious genetical engineering slunk out. It's beauty struck her and it's ears flicked as the long tongue sniffed the air, picking up her scent. Left completely speechless all she could do was stare at the magnificent beast that stood before her as the driver laughed at her dumbstruck expression.
~
Once the truck had left Aaliyah showed Mel, her company, the team; Sariah, Laylah, Niria, Missy, Moriko, Amirah, Sandy, Raven and Sash. The huskys cowered back from the looming creature, a creation of man brought to life, they were terrified of it's size and muscular appearance. However, once they had learned that Mel had no intention of harming them they were easy and began to investigate their new friend. First sniffing her all over at a safe distance and then trying to provoke play. She didn't know what to do so she decided on showing no interest, she had been trained that huskies were only there to help her work and had no part in play or any other unprofessional engagement. When Laylah learned that Mel wasn't interested, she signalled for her pack to retreat and get some more rest, as it was very much needed to complete the track past half-peak in the morning.
~
Waking up half buried in snow was a new experience for Melody, she rose to her feet in a sharp move, not at all disorientated or drowsy, and shook off the ice crystals which had embedded themselves in her fur. The cold didn't bother her and it pleased her how it sharpened her senses and burned the insides of her cheeks, making her even more acutely alert. She lifted a paw to place forward, away from the cabin, ready for a hunt. But her sensetive nose picked up a scent of whale blubber and she heard the huskies fighting over the hunks of raw flesh. Placing her paw back to the ice she turned on her tail and loped gracefully up to the door of the cabin.
~
She scratched at the doorframe and Aaliyah's face appeared as it opened. "Come in, girl. Breakfast's up." With the knife in a larger hunk of blubber she flicked a portion of the dead seal over to Mel.
She ate it within a few quick contractions of the gullet and she was instantly full, there would be no need to hunt for long with this team. Mel began to wonder if she was even needed here, but tried not to judge until the day of her first mission...
~
• 1 Month Later •
"Alright, gotta move guys, before the snow sets in and we're trapped. Too late for the vehicles." Aaliyah said. This base would have o be dug out before they rotated back by next spring. The storm was going to snow in all the facilites, so it was back to dog and sled hauling along vital equipment and resources past the peak of the next bank, a safe spot from the blizzard. Although light the snow built up quickly and Aaliyah and the team had to keep moving. Silence was in head position scanning the ground for any possible weakness, but it seemed to be atleast a couple of metres thick, more than enough to hold. Her ears flicked back and Aaliyah stopped the huskies, panting and eager to carry their master they continued to pull against her, but a short growl from Mel stopped them. Springing from the side of the sled Aaliyah walked forward to unclip Mel from the rest of the dogs and she immediately sank to her belly and crawled in this position for about fifty yards. Her assumptions were proved when her front paw reached through a small patch of snow and hit some thin ice, it appeared to continue round and laylah circled the perimeter of the seperation.
~
After a few minutes Aaliyah had successfully steered the huskies around the edge of the crevice at a safe distance from the indent in the snow that Mel had made. Once clipped back into the harness Melody began to heave, throwing all her weight through her shoulders and pushing on whilst reacting sensetively to the twitches of the rope which helped Aaliyah to stay in control of the sledge. Although tired, once another cabin was in sight Mel tried harder, threw more effort in to getting the team there safely. The sled was locked in a raised cabin extension and the dogs were brought inside. The boss called on the radio reciever and Aaliyah picked it up. Refusing to let down her guard Mel stayed alert with ears pricked forward. A sudden flux in the radio wavelengths caused the signal to falter and they were cut off from the boss, instead a symphony of piano and violin came on and Aaliyah saw Melody instantly calm and her head lay against the floor with her long tongue splayed out to the side. Aaliyah laughed as the boss was back on the airwaves instead of the music and Mel gave a little jump.
"Just remember what I've told you and you'll be fine." was the last words Aaliyah heard him say, but...
"What did he say" she said quietly to herself.
~
Mel whimpered as she watched Aaliyah frantically fight with the reciever making an attempt to boost the signal, but no luck. There wasn't enough power in it to get from base 24.0 back to base 1.5. What were they going to do? They'd have to proceed the mission without the seemingly vital knowledge the boss had given them. But first they had to survive being stuck inside the small cabin on the small amount of food they had left.
Tada!
