The aquatics have fur too, but it's just very short and soft. And it always seems shiny.
Guys, do you mind if I hand out 23 tomorrow? It'll be a chance to fix your forms, finish your WIPs and make your form look nice.
While I was excited to find out, I'm glad I have time to fix things, so it's all good :3

"I was sick of restrictions sick of the boundaries about to close the door
Such a lack of conviction no real connection what should I settle for
But you caught my attention you built on the tension and you left me wanting more
Now I don't know what to do with myself do with myself I don't want nobody else"

Ok. I was hoping for it today, but it's your choice. Now I have somthing to look forward to tomarrow.

It was different when there was a Stark in Winterfell.
But the old wolf's dead and the young one's gone south
to play the Game of Thrones,
and all that's left us is the ghosts.

Alright, that's what I thought, but I wanted to be sure.

Good luck to everyone trying out for #23, and a late congrats to the winners of #22, #21, and #20! ^^ I can't wait to see what the next batch are gonna be!

Tracker Dog you want:
#23
Name you'll give it:
Sarin
Nicknames: Rin, 23
Behind the Name: Her name comes from the standard chemical weapon used as a nerve agent, Sarin, otherwise known as GB. The name started out as a sort of joke among staff and eventually replaced #23 as her name. From there it was shortened to Rin which is used more commonly than anything else.
Reason why you want it:
Where to begin... Well, after realizing that two more trackers had been posted I hurried to the front page. Her brother, #22, has a nice design and background, but I felt zero connection with him. Then I scrolled down the page to look at his twin and... wow. I don't know, maybe it was her colour or her design or her background or her job or a combination of it all, but I fell in love with her instantly. There's just something magnetic about her and the more I think about her the more excited (and nervous - there's some amazing competition) I get.
I've been watching closely since after I got Apate, admiring each tracker you've put up just waiting for another one that I wouldn't be able to stop thinking about or looking at. She's most definitely the one. This is the first one since Apate that I've fallen in love with and I decided I had to try for. Part of the reason I love her so much might actually be because she didn't turn out 'right' and I can't seem to get that little fact about her out of my head.
Her having a twin adds a bit of a challenge to owning her which I believe could prove to be quite fun. If I do manage to get her, depending on how the owner of her twin feels we could do something with the two trackers in the future.
Will it be used in any kind of story? Oh, yes, definitely. Like with Apate, I'll continue working on her own story and she may show up in a lot of other pieces where she'll have varying parts. I have so many ideas already that I'm really excited to see play through even if I don't get this exact tracker, it's just a matter of remembering and writing them down now. Plus, if I do get her, I'll be stalking checking in with whoever gets her twin from time to time and perhaps work something out with them whether it be working together on a story or possibly role-playing, I dunno.
Describe its personality:
Sarin is similar to her brother in that she is calm, obediant, and observant. She's a true sweetheart, and the staff around the lab enjoy her prescence for both the safety she provides and the kindness she gives off. Very rarely will she ever get mad, instead she's usually calm and cheerful. Even when hunting down wrong-doers in the lab she doesn't get angry or vicious.
She loves all of the staff at the lab and enjoys being around them. Strangers and new people cause her to be hesitant and she won't blindly trust them even if they're joining the staff. It takes a while for her to develop trust in new people as she is very careful, as is required by her job. Once you've gained her trust, as the lab staff have already, then you also gain her love.
When on-duty, and sometimes off-duty, she's very hard-working. She is careful in making sure that she checks everything necessary and that she doesn't miss anything that is suspicious or could be dangerous. She doesn't hesitate to do her job even in more dangerous situations. Over time she's gained knowledge on how to get her job done efficiently and properly so she very rarely requires instruction from handlers or staff. Only in more dangerous situations does she require instruction or help from humans.
When she was younger she was very self-conscious over her markings. She knew she hadn't turned out right and it truly bothered her. She would never have admitted it to anyone, but whenever she was around her brother she would often feel envious that he had turned out properly unlike her. For a long time she felt that she wasn't as good as her brother. Over the years these feelings have been pushed to the back of her mind and she rarely feels inadequate unless she messes up or something goes wrong. This is part of the reason she likes to put her all into her job.
There are two beings that are especially important to her. The first is, unsurprisingly, her brother. Her favourite thing to do when she's off-duty is visit her brother and just be around him. Not being around him for an extended period of time is one of the few things that can truly upset her. The second is her handler and owner, Flynn. Working with Flynn slowly developed a bond between the two of them and eventually Flynn also became her owner.

Her Introduction:
Two years earlier
February '09
Lights flicked on overhead, Sarin could hear their quiet hum. The room she was in was silent aside from the humming lights and her own breathing. The lights were like a morning alarm, telling Sarin it was time to get up and go to work. She rose quickly and left the comfort of her bed. A quick bite to eat and she was ready to go. The key slid into her door lock and the door whooshed open.
Already all of her senses were kicking into high gear, making the vague image in her mind clearer than before. Outside her small room stood a younger man, waiting for her to begin her morning patrol. She recognized his scent from the few encounters they'd had. Flynn, if she recalled correctly. He was rather new to the building and even newer to the canine unit and apparently it was already his turn to work with her. Sarin wasn't entirely sure she was excited about that, it was easier to work with Jasmine. The older woman at least knew the routine and didn't bother her when she was working unless absolutely necessary. This man, well, he'd probably assume he was in charge or some other nonsense like that.
Sarin trotted quickly and easily out the door, pausing a brief moment to quickly sniff the man's leg. There was no knowing whether or not he'd be one of the ones that got themselves lost, but there was no point risking it. She wagged her tail lightly, showing the man her usual friendliness, before heading off down the hallway in the direction of the lighted areas. The doorways were her first objective, followed by a quick search of the grounds, before patrolling within the actual building.
The day passed quickly and uneventfully. Ultimately about as normal a day as possible. All the better for Flynn, Sarin decided, as she still hadn't decided just how capable and experienced he was. She'd ignored most of what he said, she already knew the things he was telling her. The only times she did listen were when he would mention something about himself. She got the idea he was starting to test her, finding his own way to understand her. By the end of the day he knew when he was being ignored and when she was listening. A bonus in Sarin's opinion, that way she wouldn't be distracted by him talking about things she didn't want to hear.
Two Months Later
May '09
A new day. Another morning.
Sarin stepped easily and quickly out of her room, greeted once more by Flynn. He'd played handler every three days since February, trading off with Jasmine and Terrence. After working with the young man so many times she'd grown fond of him. Even more so than Terrence who she'd been working with since her arrival at the lab. Maybe even more than sweet old Jasmine. He was young, friendly, and picked up on how she felt quickly. He'd even snuck her in a few treats on several occassions.
The pair headed down the lighted hallway towards the front entrance. Glass doors slid open with a light whoosh, and they were through and outside. Already the grounds were alive with activity, scent trails led every way down the paths and the sounds of feet running and walking could be heard all around. In her mind an image had formed, a rather hectic scene that would be hard to follow for the new trackers.
Together Sarin and Flynn moved off the path, taking their usual route around the building. The number of entrances and exits the lab had was rather high, full of emergency exits and storage entrances. Nearly every door would be busy throughout the day. Staff would be coming and going, shipments would be recieved, tours would be held for possible trainees. The morning itself wasn't even nearly as hectic as it would be in the afternoon. Part of the reason Sarin was grateful that in an hour two other trackers would come on duty working the grounds around the lab area so that she could concentrate on the interior of the lab.
Sarin stopped mid-step, feeling a slight sense of confusion. Her paw returned to the ground and she lowered her head a bit to take a deeper smell. Something in the air had gotten her attention, a scent she recognized but hadn't been present in over half a year.Yes, there it was, that smell. Every human had a unique smell and Sarin remembered this one. Professor Lindwall, one of the researchers that had been in the diseases department working with sicknesses spread by spores. The man had been fired after exposing a fellow researcher to a proto-type of a new type of strain. He'd been banned from the entire property.
Flynn was watching her carefully, clearly having realized that something was wrong. When she started moving again he was ready and hurried along behind her, eyes scanning the grounds carefully. Sarin paid little attention to him except to be sure he was following. She sped up, moving at a steady lope as she followed the scent. A little used door stood closed, the former professor's scent ending at it. Sarin waited impatiently as Flynn opened the door for her and the two hurried through.
They were halfway down a hallway, still far back from the man they were after, when the lab's alarm started wailing. The sound wasn't as loud as it would be in a different lab as the sound had been adjusted so it didn't hurt any tracker's ears as much. Sarin cringed anyway, not a fan of the sound, it made it harder to form an image in her mind. And it proved that she'd been right to worry at the former professor's prescence.
When Sarin reached the door to Lindwall's former lab, and the source of the alarm, one of the emergency staff turned the alarm off and opened a door to let Sarin through. Flynn went to follow, but the man stuck out an arm and stopped.
"You don't have the clearance," the man said, waiting for Flynn to step back.
If Sarin had eyes, and the ability to, she would have rolled them. She stepped back, moving between the man and Flynn and barked loudly, demanding. The man looked at her for a moment before moving back and allowing them both through. They moved through another set of doors, still not in the actual lab. A group of scientists and security had gathered in the room outside the lab, and were now arguing over what to do.
The only thing that stood between them, the lab, and the deadly spores now in the lab was a long glass window. From what Sarin managed to put together from memory and the limited sound coming through the window it wasn't good. At least six of the lab's scientists were in the room with Lindwall and from what the emergency team was talking about, Lindwall had scattered a powdery substance. A bio weapon that would have already infected everyone in the room and would affect anyone that entered.
Flynn and Sarin joined the emergency team, listening to what they were saying. It wasn't good. They didn't know what the strain was, only what the disease was, the haz mat team was gathering and preparing in a different wing of the lab. No one knew how long the people inside the lab could last without medicine, which sat in a small briefcase on the desk.
With the arrival of Sarin and Flynn, a feeling of excitement went through the small group and two people hurriedly gaze Flynn a set of instructions. When Flynn turned back to Sarin, he had the briefcase and led her across to the door into the lab. He typed a combination into the lock and swung open the door.
"Take this to Dr. Cameron, she'll know what to do," Flynn said, bending down so that his gaze was level with her face.
Sarin nodded briefly and picked up the briefcase carefully before stepping through the door. The door closed behind her, sealing shut, leaving her trapped in a tiny room. A moment later, the second door slid open and Sarin was inside the lab. The scent was horrible, and she automatically wrinkled up her nose against it, but Sarin was the only one in the room that would remain unaffected by what it actually was. Her image cleared and she picked out where everyone and everything was. Two of the scientists were slumped against the wall, seemingly unconscious and a third one was holding herself up using a table and coughing.
Lindwall was sitting in one of the corners watching everyone. He turned to watch Sarin, his scent now a mixture of fear. Sarin ignored him, staying far from him as she hurried to where Dr. Cameron was. The woman didn't seem good, judging from what Sarin was hearing, but she was in better shape than the others. She nudged the woman's leg and handed her the briefcase which she quickly set to work with.
While the scientist set to work taking care of her colleagues, Sarin moved across to Lindwall. She sat down a short ways from him, prepared to stop him if he tried anything. They didn't have to wait long, the door slid open and two men hurried in wearing haz mat suits. The door closed again, then opened once more, allowing two more suits to enter. It continued like that until at least ten more people were in the room. More would be waiting outside the room with a place set up to clean the spores off of everyone that exited the lab.
With Sarin's job done, they allowed her out first and she was rinsed and scrubbed down before being allowed out into the hallway where the first emergency team and Flynn waited. The head of security stood waiting, and with the arrival of Sarin, led Flynn down the hallway. Sarin followed quickly, feeling confused on what was going on.
Flynn was greeted at an office doorway by one of the lab executives and the two entered the office, leaving Sarin to wait outside the door with the head of security.
It felt like forever had passed before the door opened again and Flynn stepped out. Although Sarin couldn't really see it, the young man was grinning. What Sarin could tell was the he was feeling a mixture of excitement and nervousness.
Flynn bent down, stroking the top of Sarin's head. "Guess what, Rin. They want me to take over from the lab as your owner!" he murmured, his voice laced with the same feelings.
Sarin tipped her head slightly to the side and barked happily, completely surprised by the outcome and what had come of her decision to bring Flynn through security.
Well... I'm nervous, but hopefully this is good enough, I didn't want to add more otherwise it would get too long ^-^
I'm quite fond of this form, actually. So.. she'll be going to you, Arrow. But next time, make your story a bit shorter. (:
EmberThorn, before you ask, you tried too hard. You put too much irrelevant details and weird things into it (a wolf and raccoon in your story, for example), and it all became chaotic and too much to properly judge. The personality traits were good, but next time, keep it a short story.
As for the new batch of Trackers, they might arrive this evening. I'm still working on them to get their markings right, and one's being a slippery little fish and keeps getting away from me so I can't put it in a kennel..
