"Get back here you furry beast!" a voice boomed.

Lilac quickened her pace, hearing the monster gaining on her. The sound a net swooshing could be heard nearby. She couldn't understand why it was chasing her. All she did was steal some food that some monster left on a table. What was the big deal? They had more! She, on the other hand, had had a hard time finding food. All the other squirrels had apparently got the food, leaving her empty-pawed. There was no way she'd get through the winter with no food, so she took matters into her own paws.

The monster kept getting closer and closer, his brushing against the tips of her fur on her tail.

"You can run, but you can't hide!" the monster boomed again.

Lilac could see her tree coming up. She started dashing faster, without looking down. She slipped on a mud puddle, spinning around and around, eventually blacking out. The last sound she heard was the net coming down over her.

She blinked slowly, once, twice. Her eyes shot open. Instead of seeing the tree she's known her whole life, she saw bars. Thick, cold, silver steel bars. Lilac, panicking, tried to chew through them with no luck. She tried over and over again, but nothing worked. She finally sat back, hoping her new home would be without any nets. And maybe that they could give her a bath...
