Mocha was tired. And hungry. So tired and hungry that she could feel it in her young bones. So tired and hungry that it was hard for her to remember when she hadn't been this tired. But she was happy. In fact, she hadn't felt this happy since the days with her mother, before she was taken away by strange creatures with fur only on their heads.

At first, the strange creatures had seemed nice; they "owned" her mother and cared well for both her and all the kits. In those days, she had been known as "Tiny;" Mocha had been born the smallest and weakest of the litter; the dreaded runt. She lived mostly in bliss and ignorance of what the real world was like, playing with her siblings and cuddling with her mother. She did have some doubts about her size, though. After all, her siblings would sometimes make fun of her. When she told her worries to her mother, she just told her that being smaller was fine, as long as you had a good heart. That always comforted Mocha. However, that piece of advice couldn't have been true, for when Mocha was old enough to be without a mother, the strange creatures took her away and gave her to another creature, while her regular-sized siblings stayed behind. You would've expected that the creatures would make sure that she was going to a loving family, but what happened was quite the opposite; they just gave her to the first creature that asked. That creature turned out to be a nasty one; he almost never fed her and kept her locked away. She wasn't sure exactly how she had stayed alive, but she had. Maybe it was her will that kept her alive.

One day, after a couple of days of starvation, the old creature came into view. Mocha thought he was going to bring food. She was wrong. He took her out of the cage. Mocha, in all her innocence, thinking that maybe she was finally going to get affection, stayed in his cupped hands without a fight. They got into a strangely-shaped metal creature and he put her into a cardboard box.She didn't think it was so bad compared to the metal cage; the top was open, after all. She dozed in her little box until the metal thing stopped and her owner picked up the box with Mocha still inside of it. They were in an unfamiliar, smelly place, filled with large, abandoned buildings. Mocha had no idea what was happening until her owner set down her box in a corner and walked away, getting into the metal creature. She tried to jump her way out, but alas the sides of the box were too high. She could only just peer over the sides and see the metal object disappear into the distance.

For days, nobody found her, since her box was in an abandoned part of the city. Finally, just when Mocha was about to give up hope, she saw one of those funny-looking creatures with no hair again. She didn't think much of those creatures, after all her experiences, but maybe this one would at least give her food. It looked like she was going to pass Mocha's box, but, suddenly, she turned back around and headed towards it. The girl (Mocha thought she was a girl) looked inside the box. Mocha tried to hide herself somehow, but the girl just gasped and picked the box up immediately.

The girl kept on chattering away with phrases like "I hope my mom lets you stay, or at least lets me feed you," as she carried Mocha's box to who knew where. Mocha supposed it was supposed to be comforting, but she really just wanted some peace and quiet for once. Finally, the girl quieted, but not before introducing herself...

"Oh, I forgot! My names [insert appropriate name here]!" Mocha blinked her small eyes to show that she understood. The girl paused, and smiled at her.

That was when she started her new, content life.

I might add more, even though my writing's not that great. xD Anyways, I hope it's okay I wrote a long story about her background. ^^ (Oh, and the first paragraph is sort of a lead-into her flashback.)
