Introductions

Hello, I'm hyperthymesia., better known as hyper or polo. I am a half-Russian, half-English agender teen living in the UK, and one of my many passions is collecting characters, along with drawing, writing and reading.
This is the first time I have ever tried for a character here (overall, it'd be my second time applying for one!), so I'm super excited, heh
I shall explain why I'm called polo - previously, I had the username of Polo-Tay, which I invented when I first moved to England. I had used that user for many years, and after seeing a close friend change their user to something interesting, I searched up a few words I'd heard the other day and liked.
I was instantly torn between chromosynthesia and hyperthymesia. Both have utterly different meanings, and though I liked the meaning of chromosynthesia, I decided to give hyperthymesia a shot, and, well, it stuck.
But now whenever I see something with the word 'hyper' in it I start hyperventilating from laughter - ahahha, get it? Get it?... my puns are terrible, pardon that horrendous use c;

Why do I want this character?

He is perfect. Literally. I love his colours, and how the amber-orange eye just stands out, like a topaz gem in a forest of greens. His scars are probably what drew me most to him - how did he get these scars? Why? If I won this character, how could I use him? Things like these started to run through my head when I saw him. He was the only one out of one hundred and fifteen that caught my eye.
His spines are awesome as well - and the odd, scaly hair(?) he has; it looks awesome, and adds to his utter uniqueness. His nose horn is super cool too, and makes one think of all sorts of things he would do with it - maybe he could take up a hobby of doing wood carvings?
And his claws like ahhh they look so dang cool! The fact that he has special hybrid features in him is so flipping awesome - quite frankly, the claws are probably my favourite part of his design! I wonder how powerful he could be, with enough monentum - maybe he'd be able to blow someone's head off in one swoop..
Lastly, his colour suits him so well. Needless to say - green is my favourite colour, but the way the artist splashed it onto him is truly amazing. It looks so dull, but simultaneously stands out.
Furthermore, I have ideas for him being an anthro in some of my comics, when I get round to drawing them. It would be a fun concept to play around with! And I'm totally writing a story about his life.
I don't know, I just realise that I have this intense urge to draw him and keep him and imitate Dory with her "He is my Squishy and he shall be mine"
To be honest I cannot believe that he hasn't been applied for yet prior to this round!

Where will I use him and what for?

As I progressed through this form, I realised that I really wanted to use him in a comic, or something of that sort. I'd do art for him, and possibly write a story, as well as display him on his own Weebly page that I store the rest of my characters and closed species in.
He will also most likely either replace or co-exist with my beautiful hybrid-creature who's in my sig; I can see their friendship forming already. Furthermore, I'd love to develop his character and background and such and spoil him with treats c:
He will also litter my sketchbooks. Being an artist, I draw a lot, and many drawings of Akhalabarr and other various charrs have been placed into random sketchbooks and pieces of paper that end up being on my wardrobe and walls. So he will definitely be one of those characters - if I win him, he will be one of my main characters, of which there aren't many to begin with.

The Basics

I decided that the name Coel Aeker would fit this croc's image. The name just came off the top of my head - spur of the moment, though I was thinking of a name with something along the lines of a C-name. I kept thinking - he must be called Coal, or Connor, or something - even Colton came to mind - but I wanted it to be slightly exotic, hence 'Coel Aeker' was born.
Coel is pronounced the same way as 'coal', by the way. I just prefer the other spelling for this bab. And the surname - reminds me of an acre, which was unintentional. Heh.. I like them both, anyway.
He is a male, as previously stated with all the male pronouns, and is asexual and grey-aromantic, meaning the has no sexual interest in others and rarely experiences romantic attractions. I felt that this suited his melancholic mood.
Lastly, his breed is a cross between two croc species that I really like - the Yacare Caiman and the Tomistoma; I liked the Tomistoma's slender build, which I felt applied to Coel's tail, and also the fact that they're a rather muddy shade of green, which, once again, I related to Coel. The Yacare, however, has quite a bulky build and has strong, thick teeth and jaws which I see in Coel. He also has quite a bulky, thick body structure, and I liked the fact that he may be descended from two completelt contrasting croc species.
Which reminds me that I have an obsession with alligators. Or used to. I think.

Personality & Quirks

Coel is a very introverted crocodile, preferring to mope in the shade and nosing the water gently than talking to others. Even if he does talk, he usually grunts and growls, but as his violence is virtually non-existent, this only tends to occur when he gets stomach aches.
He often acts quite melancholic and dull, carrying a bored attitude on his shoulders wherever he goes - this is just the way his face is; he can be fully capable of being happy and passionate about something, though this isn't often, which may explain he facial expression he heralds. He is also quite untrusting and it takes a while for him to even warm up to you at least a tad.
Contrary to this, he can become motivated when making someone feel better - he'll even crack a few, ultra rare jokes just to see the latter smile instead of being sad. He tends to be quite empathetic, thus trying to take away other's sadness in spite of his own moods. He would sacrifice his own happiness for someone else, which few other idiotic creatures and humans alike have taken advantage of in previous events.

A few quirks he has are as follows; he hates lightning. It frightens him, and also causes him to have anxiety attacks, probably due to the multiple flashes lightning and thunder take with them. All you need to know is, when storms are a-beckoning, he will be hiding in your bed, under the blankets, shaking uncontrollably until someone cuddles him and calms him as much as they can.
He is also aggravated by volcanoes - no one quite knows why, but he really doesn't like them and finds them to be an annoying presence. It may be because of their heat, or the fact that they spew lava in similar shades to Coel's eyes - though he's never been near a volcano, lest one that doesn't soew red lava (yes, they exist!), so this aggravation makes no sense logically.
He also hates cats - or fluffy things in general. They get stuck in his scales and tickle him; he's extremely ticklish, so this is a terrible down-sider for him. Cats especially annoy him because they're all so clingy and so scratchy and they enjoy using him as a scratching post rather than leaving him be.

As for luck - you could say that Coel's luck is 49/51. Sometimes, he gets a stroke of luck - for example, finding a badge in the street to add to his ever-growing collection/hoard, but equally, he has bad luck; take stepping on a sharp stone as one of them.
He also has anxiety, which doesn't help at all in stressful or social situations. He prefers to be alone, which doesn't bode well with his melancholic nature, but it helps to keep his head clear and his emotions somewhat stable. His claustrophobia when in crowds also doesn't help at all with the poor fellow, which is really the core reason why he doesn't go out much, if not at all.
He is also a mass hoarder - any small toot will earn a place in any nook or cranny that Coel can find. Some things disappear without one noticing, and there is only one, medium-sized, melancholic croc to blame for that.

History

As a little croc, he was found abandoned near a gutter, with the remnants of plasma still covering his scaly sides. He was quite small at birth, and the first few nights that he was still in the streets, he got into a fight with a rat, which earned him the multiple scars on the muzzle - he suffered near-blindness because of hoe close the rats talons had gotten to his right eye, but otherwise, he was alright.
He was taken in by a kind soul, who tended to his wounds and let him scurry about in the garden that had it's own salt-water pool - which was of Coel's preference, anyway. He has lived there for many years, growing in size and thriving much better than when he was a tiny crocling.
Maybe we could revisit a part of his life?

The street was filthy. Grime coated the ground and sludge oozed from multiple crevices and gaps in the cobbled road. The buildings were tall, stark naked of any decorations, instead covered in charcoal smoke, weaved into the paint from the many years of pollution that had affected the houses to the extent of smothering any other colours with it's dead black or hues of grey.
A gutter gurgled it's protest as sludge spewed from it's mouth, hints of a radioactive green glinting vehemently. In this exact gutter lay a single, large egg. Sludge coated it's side, and it was grey from the amount of time having spent there, lying in the gutter. A verdant tinge flooded it's surface like goo. The egg gave a few shakes, and then stilled.
The screech of a car engine seemed to awaken it once more - it cracked, as if an earthquake had attacked the disgusting road, and, painfully slowly, a layer of egg shell lifted itself from the object. A few more hazardrohs cracks appeared, before plasma spewed from the tiny entrance and a little, weird looking creature tumbled out.
To put things lightly, it was ugly. A weird mop of scales adorned the creature's head, and heavy eyelids peeled away to reveal two dull-orange eyes, regarding its surroundings with a look of sloth-like boredom. The colour of the creature was that of a jungle - dark, matted green, with not a hint of other colours. Lastly, claws had erupted from the creature's feet, giving it a malicious look - which was difficult with the baby, pudgy body type it had.

The little crocodile hybrjd looked around, and saw a world of black and grey.
This was how Coel Aeker was born; into a world full of vengence and scorn.
