Pet's ID Tag: 64
Name You'd Choose for It: Gem
Gender: Female
Reason You Want It: I found myself drawn to Gem's simple, but very lovely design. She seemed to give herself her own personality, and her own story. I have also been wanting to either create or adopt a wolf character, but not one with an over-the-top, unnatural design. Gem's design is simple, effective, and exactly what I wanted in a character. She would be roleplayed and definitely have art bought of her. (Or art drawn/coloured in on the oekaki by me. :3)
History/Background/Other:
Personality:
The diamond in the rough...
Ever the optimist, Gem is always looking for the silver lining of even the darkest clouds. She is sociable, but really only when needs be. She does tend to crave friendly interaction with others, and could even be a little overwhelming to a friendly stranger with her high energy levels. Gem is stubborn in the extreme, and has a strong desire to be right. She does not want to be perfect, but she likes to know what is going on. She is not afraid of being different, or being honest. Her honesty can be brutal, and can trigger arguments with others.
Random Information:
♦ Gem always feels more cheerful whenever she sees butterflies. She's not sure why, they just cheer her up.
♦ Gem has three brothers. She is no longer able to speak to or see them, but they are never forgotten.
♦ Although she won't admit it, Gem is gullible. She believes a lot of what anyone tells her without doubting it.
♦ She loves her blue bracelet, simply because it is unusual.
♦ Many actually do not know Gem's name, and those that do know her may know her by the title of "Sunheart". This name came about as a result of her prominent sun marking.
History:
A sheet of darkness had been laid across the world, tiny pinpricks of light being the only thing visible amongst the dark. There was no moon tonight, and it was on this moonless night that a young female named Feather became a mother. In her den, close to a gnarled root system, she cooed over the newborn pups. One in particular, a female, caught her attention. "Pretty little dear, you are," she whispered, so as not to wake the pup. "Such odd markings." Feather tilted her delicate head. A sun? An arrow? And what about the circle around her eye? How were they possible?
"Perhaps you are simply that special, aren't you? More precious than jewels -- than gems. Gem? Yes, Gem." Feather thought aloud, softly licking the pup's fur. The newly named Gem awoke, fumbling around blindly. "Careful, little Gem," Feather told the pup. "Don't wake your brothers."
Suddenly and silently, another figure slipped into the den. A large, grey and brown male wolf. "Aren't they sweet, Thorn?" Feather murmured to the figure. The other wolf gave a nod, glancing worriedly at his mate when Gem's unusual markings caught his eye. "The markings, Feather. What's wrong with her?" he hissed back, motioning to the pup.
Feather stared back at Thorn with a shocked expression. "There's nothing wrong with Gem! She's just different!" the mother retorted, beginning to raise her voice.
Gem squirmed at the raised voices, attempting to snuggle back to her mother's belly.
Thorn could only roll his eyes. "We shall see. But you realise that having a pup like that is not an easy one to raise, Feather. The last of the... more unusual wolves were killed generations ago. There are some that will try to keep... differences dead."
"I know," Feather whispered. "But Gem's special. No one will hurt her."

In a screaming hurry, Gem swiveled around yet another tree. She daren't look back and see if she was still being pursued. Now an adult, Gem had to make a life for herself. But when you were so different that others were afraid of you, that was not easy.
Gem had discovered this.
She had made attempts to find herself a pack, she really had. But there was not a one that hadn't simply chased her away threatening to kill her without giving her a chance to speak. A wave of sadness overcame Gem as a memory flashed in her mind.
"Gem!" her father had snarled. "Leave here! They want you! They won't stop until they have you dead! Just run!"
She remembered that day far too well. It was the day that several other packs had decided Gem was dangerous and bizarre. They wanted her dead. Her father knew that for the sake of her brothers and mother, Gem would have to be exiled from their pack. Gem gave an absentminded shrug. She didn't blame them. Not at all. She had found ways to live alone easily enough. But she knew she had to be careful. One step onto another pack's territory could very well be her last.
Yet their reasons for wanting her dead were so obscure that Gem could barely wrap her head around them. It was all because of her markings, because she was different. Shaking her head as if that would somehow change everything, Gem glanced at her surroundings. She seemed to be near the humans' territory. She could tell, because they always left their materialistic possessions in one big, smelly heap. However, Gem knew food could often be found, and she was hungry enough to resort to scraps.
Poking through the rubbish, Gem discovered an unusual object. A blue thing. It was round, like the full moon, but it had a huge hole in the middle. It looked as if it could almost fit Gem's leg. Half-amused at her thought, the female slipped her foot through the ring, fiddling with it until it was firmly on her leg. Gem thought it was actually rather pretty. Seeing as no human wanted it, Gem decided it would be hers.
Some hours later, Gem crept along the border of a relatively hostile pack's territory. As a rabbit sprang out from the bushes, Gem made a mad dash for the creature, slaying it after finally catching up to it. From behind her, Gem could hear pawsteps.
"Hey!" a voice growled.
Gem turned with a wry, proud grin plastered across her face. Evidently the relatively hostile pack had found her. "Hey, to you too," Gem greeted. "Hunting?"
"Yes, as we see you have been." The owner of the voice, a dark grey male, muttered. "The rabbit was from our territory. It is ours, freak. Leave, and we might not hurt you."
Gem's plan could then be put into action. "Really?" Gem drew her lips back in a smile, sliding her leg with the blue bracelet on it in front of her. "You see this blue thing? It's got powers. I can send lightning from the skies and you'll all drop dead."
"Liar!"
"Don't believe me?" Gem murmured. "Well, you should have." The female broke into a series of frantic yips, springing into the air, snarling and somersaulting at random. The other wolves glanced at one another.
"What's happening?" asked one.
"I don't know!" answered another.
"She's calling the lightning!" a third voice wailed woefully.
"That's stupid." The grey male snarled to the owner of the third voice. "Just leave her. If she's this strange, I'm not eating anything she's wrapped her filthy jaws around." He decided, and the group took off back into the trees.
Gem gave a tiny shrug of her shoulders. Well, it had the desired effect. They had left her alone. They hadn't bought her giant fib, but she hadn't necessarily expected them to. She had a decent meal, and for once wasn't being chased away. Gem, for the first time in a long while, felt completely and utterly satisfied.
