The Daughter of the Wind
Being a part of something important when you are young can be quite weird, especially if you have no idea what they are talking about. This is the most perfect explanation for the situation Talia is in. She has recently been called "The Daughter of the Wind".
Whatever that means.
Talia is a normal Kalon, who knows nothing of what others are speaking about. She thinks that it is just a joke or a way to make her feel special. However, this has been going on for a while now, so she decided to figure out the reason for this "nonsense" that she is hearing.
The young Kalon decided to go to her favourite place in the world: the clearing in the middle of the forest. The clearing contains many things that can be considered beautiful, such as the patches of different coloured flowers, the birds and the other creatures calmly roaming around, the breeze rustling the leaves on the trees, the sun peeking in through the trees that are covering the sky.....
Talia goes here to think. Thinking has been a major habit of hers, thinking about this and thinking about that. Some say that she would fit in well with a detective force, but she doesn't like to work with others on serious cases. She prefers to work alone....... like a private investigator. At least, that is what she thinks of herself. Young Talia sat down and thought long and hard, but no answer would come to her. This annoyed her greatly because she was so used to coming up with answers to predicaments. This is the first time that something actually stumped her.
Then a breeze whizzed by.
It wasn't an ordinary breeze, mind you. The breeze had a different feeling than the ones that usually passed over the area. It was as if it was directing Talia to go to a specific place. She looked around, hoping to notice something out of the ordinary, but to no avail. She decided to play this little game.
Following the direction of the breeze, she noticed that the creatures around her stopped whatever they were doing to look at her. Talia could feel them staring at them, curious as to what on Earth she was doing. She slowed down a little bit to see the creatures. There were all kinds of animals: birds, insects, deer, foxes, bears, wolves, wild cats, wild dogs.... It was as if they were ready to follow her command. The breeze continued to lead her in the same direction until finally, she came across a cliff with a wind so strong that it could knock anybody off balance. However, Talia was somehow able to stand without tipping over. She also found this strange.... as if the title "The Daughter of the Wind" was actually not a joke.
A voice rang in the direction of the wind.
Talia peered around, waiting for someone to appear. But nobody stepped forward. The animals, however, followed her all the way to the cliff. "Hello? Is there anybody who wishes to speak with me?" she called to the sky. A sudden whoosh zipped by her ear and a visible gust of wind landed in front of her. A female voice echoed from within.
"Greetings, Talia. I suppose you have questions for me."
Talia was surprised that this.... creature..... knew her name. "First of all," she started. "Who are you?"
The "being" chuckled lightly, almost as if she was royalty. "I am the Wind. I rule the open skies, the clouds, the air...... the breeze." Talia then asked another question.
"Why do the people call me 'The Daughter of the Wind?'"
The Wind paused for a few moments as if she was waiting for something. Then, a small answer rang in her ears.
"Because you are 'The Daughter of the Wind', Talia."
Talia widened her eyes in shock. She was a part of the wind all this time? That was quite hard to believe.
Talia was afraid. She was afraid that she might have to leave everything behind in order to become the wind. Her distress was clearly shown on her face, which was noticed by The Wind.
"Fear not, dear child. I am The Wind, and will always remain as The Wind. You are my descendant, one who will continue my line of work by being yourself. You do not have to become a part of the Wind."
Talia watched as The Wind drifted away into the sky past the edge of the cliff, past the trees, past the forests, past the mountains, and past the horizon. She turned around and saw the animals all bowing to her. Talia was hoping that The Wind could answer her question, until a voice rang in the distance:
"Be who you are."
Talia was confused to what The Wind meant, even to this day. However, she at least learned more of her identity and of what the people meant of the title.
She was The Daughter of the Wind.
