How does your parrapup respond to the new environment around them? Seemingly that they have left those that they knew on the other side of a closed portal, but other parras are coming out of the same type of portals.

Candina;;

"Maybe I was wrong," she muses numbly, stunned by the sudden shift in scenery. She looks briefly behind her to see her rift closing, as though it were a quickly healed scar in space-time. She nearly reaches it, before it vacuums itself shut and vanishes from sight. There was no way back.

Her head was empty of the tormenting voices... A welcome change. She hoped that Soupy and Araxie had been able to make the jump as well, but there was no guarantee, since her portal had closed. Araxie would have wanted to see what was on the other side, to know that this was where it was all coming from... Araxie wanted so badly to know how to stop them and this... this was it.

Candina sat down on the plush grass and curled her wings in tightly to her back, watching portals all around her open and close, revealing new Parrapups of all shapes and sizes. She watched dozens and dozens of other Parras cross over, but as hours dragged on, her hope of meeting back up with them dwindled.

Eventually, Candina stood up, picked herself up off the ground with a running start and began making her way to the tree. Maybe one day they too could escape to this place, but until then, Candina would have to be on her own.

A deep growl rumbled inside Khya's throat. This new environment strange and yet welcoming at the
same time. Fur on end and claws unsheathed, the parrapup took another further step, feeling the
grass crush under her paws as she walked. Blue eyes slowly roamed the scene around her. Khya felt
herself becoming more and more uncomfortable with each passing moment. The place she was in
was much different from where she had come from - which had consisted of blustery snowstorms
and towering evergreens. To say it simply, the peaceful atmosphere was odd.

Giving her feathers a shake, Khya felt the remainders of snow blow off, and it was as if a certain
weight had been lifted. Then slowly, ever so slowly, a call built up in her throat, "Anyone here?"
The mother's ears pricked, hoping to hear some response, whether it be from a stranger - or more
importantly - another parra she was familiar with. It would've been even better if a member of her
family responded to her call. And yet, there was no answer.

Urgency began to build in her chest. Legs churning beneath her, Khya began to lope across the greenery.
Her ears pricked and her wings rustled, and all her senses were set to high-alert. The collar clinking and
jangling against her neck became a distant feeling. As she began to cover ground, more of her kind began
to appear. Some appeared just as she did, and yet others seemed to be filled with wonder and joy.

Seeing no others that she knew, Khya felt another growl rumble in her throat. Her gaze drifted to the
large tree positioned just a small bit away from where she ran. With a call reminiscent of a battle cry,
the rather disgruntled parrapup launched herself into the air, wings unfurling and beating at the air.
She knew where she must first go.

[[ Khya will be my main parra that I'm starting off with! The others were written for fun. ]]

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Vice was the first to notice that Khya had disappeared: after all, she was his mother. Ears flicking,
he sauntered towards the front window, rising on his hind legs to peer out. A howling snowstorm
had descended upon the area, and his mother had been out on one of her walks. She had been
out in storms like this before, yes, but there was something... off. And Vice felt it.

"Vice? What're you lookin' so forlorn for?" A feminine voice squawked out from behind the parra,
causing him to cock his head to the side. In the doorway to his human's kitchen stood two others,
one dark brown and the other smaller, and lighter coloured.

"My mother hasn't come back yet." Vice answered in a simple manner, nodding his head to Godiva
and Tahiti. The more talkative, Tahiti, came forward with a grin on her beak.

"You're ma'll be alright. She's a right hardy one, ain't she, Godiva?"

Godiva responded with a snort. "Much better than my dad, that's for sure," Godiva drawled,
making an exaggerated movement. "If he'd have gone off into the storm, he'd probably freeze
his feathers off, or somethin'."

"That's true. Your father, Space... may not be the smartest beak in the bunch." Vice sighed,
attempting to organize himself. Absentmindedly he moved to clean himself, plucking at the
feathers that he deemed dirty. "What of the others? Where are they right now?"

"Bokuto and his son, Akinori, are just upstairs," Tahiti piped up, fluffing out her own feathers.
"Ah think that 'Noya is with them too. They ain't doin' much, that's for sure."

"Sam is upstairs too." Godiva took her turn to speak, shifting from where she had seated herself
to sashay next to Vice. "Though, she isn't with the rest. I think she was staring out at the blizzard."

Vice, to say the least, was a little disgruntled by the whole situation. His only response to the two
was the nod of his head, for he soon turned back to the window. He soon began to lose focus on
the others in the room, instead focusing on the blundering snow outside. Although this would've
been a normal occurrence, there was one thing in particular that bugged him the most.

When his mother had disappeared into the snow, the voices which had just begun to form in his
head had lessened to almost nothing.

"Mom, what is it?" "Is it safe mother?" "It looks.. interesting." "Maybe we shou.."

The voices of her loved ones were all muddle with the ones that seemed to be in her head. She knew her two children were talking to her and even her dear friends Pine and Atropos. However, as if she was no longer in control of her body, she went towards it. Before Pine could even finish his words, she was already through, with grass tickling her toes.

Dots blinked several times, not expecting the sudden brightness. As she let her eyes adjust, she noticed several things. Predominately, the voices had stopped. Dots sighed in relief. She wasn't sure what would have happened had they continued much longer. Eyes now adjusted to the light, she looked around. Blue skies, green land, a giant tree, and other parrapups popping out of nowhere. The sight excited her though. She finally spoke a reply to her family before quickly spinning around toward them, "You're going to like this kidos!" There was only one thing wrong. No one was there.

"Kiton! Gouyen! Pine! Atropos!" She whistled their names. No response met her. She thought back. Hadn't she told them to follow behind her? Did she tell them to stay put? What was it that they were saying to her? A chill overtook Dots as a realization came crashing down on her. She had left them behind. Staring at the grass, she began to wonder what this was all about and if she would ever see her children again. "Crying isn't going to help nor get anything done," she said to herself. She knew the aching feeling of the separation would always be there until finally reunited with her children, but she could distract herself. Dots looked at where she had came through one last time. Only blue skies met her.

"Blue skies.. Blue skies.. Blue skies? Where is all the land?" Dots slightly tilted her head and raised a brow. Slowly walking forward, she came to the edge of the land. What she saw shocked her, but left her very happy to have wings. "How can an island float in the sky?" Dots looked around again. It seemed as if parras were starting to congregate about the base of the tree. She wondered if they had any other new information, and so she too slowly walked towards the tree.

The first thing that flashed through his mind was an obscenity. So was the second thing. And the third thing. Furthermore, it took all the self-restraint he possessed to keep from shouting those first three thoughts at the top of his lungs for all assembled to hear, regardless of any offense he may cause. He very much wanted to do so. In fact, it took all of his self-restraint to keep from screaming period. What in the name of all that was good and decent had he - quite literally - fallen into? This was NOT his cozy little apartment. This was NOT the bar which operated on the ground floor of that same building. It wasn't even the park across the street! Instead, the landscape which unfolded before him looked like something out of one of those damn sci-fi novels his son was always reading. That tree... that tree was impossible; large enough around at its base to cover a city block. Nothing like that in New York. Never mind the fact that it was growing, and he was apparently standing, on an island - blueness on all sides... but not the deep blue of an ocean, as one would expect. Oooh no. Instead, the soft pale blue of a summer sky. THIS island floated on a sea of clouds.

Cairo gazed up into the branches of the colossal tree which now towered over him (he'd been wandering aimlessly for the past several minutes), fighting to overcome the panic which was gradually welling up inside his chest and threatening to make him scream after all. Panic never did anyone any good. Besides, he'd always prided himself on being a level-headed individual. This day, of all days, was not the one to lose it. Not if he wanted to ever have 'it' again.

The last thing he remembered, he'd been rushing about the apartment like a mad-beast, attempting to clean things up a bit during the five-minute window which existed before Wissenschaft was due to arrive and drop London off for the weekend. He'd been pulling overtime lately, in preparation for the holidays, and his usually tidy abode had taken the opportunity to grow amazingly cluttered. It never ceased to amaze him, the way that worked - turn your back for an hour or two, and stuff you never even knew you had mysteriously found its way into the least convenient place in the house. Just in time for you to trip over it. London called it the 'Law of Kipple-ization'. Or something like that... Forcing his eyes away from the tree and onto the growing crowd of Parras, Cairo took a deep breath to steady himself. He was drifting. Trying to cocoon himself in familiarity instead of dealing with what was trying to pass for reality. Start over. Figure it out. He'd been rushing around the living room, cleaning, and the voices had been at it again. As loud as they'd ever been. Maybe louder. So he'd been distracted. He heard the doorbell, whirled around, and hooked a paw on the leg of the coffee table. He'd fallen. Beak first, toward the couch. Then... A flash of white light, a warm tingling sensation throughout his body. Darkness. And the voices... the voices had gone away. He still couldn't hear them, either.

One thing to be grateful for, at any rate.

He must've hit his head on something as he fell, and this whole tree business was simply a product of his head injury and his son's silly games. He must be, right now, in an ambulance or a hospital bed. Unconscious. Dreaming. He wasn't actually on an island in middle of the sky with a giant tree and a bunch of strangers. Of course not! He'd wake up soon, and it would all go away. Hopefully with no long-lasting effects. And when that happened, little London would absolutely love to hear all about dad's crazy dream! Maybe the kid would even make a game out of it. So in the mean time... in the mean time, he'd go along with it and do to his best to convince himself that he hadn't cracked his head all the way open when he fell.

There was no other rational explanation, was there..?
