In fact, I believe that this is the first time I've tried out for a character in a character adoption agency or center. I love writing stories, but I don't usually share them on Chicken Smoothie. My

Reason & Function I was looking for new characters in a few adoption agencies. As I got to the Pound of Love and scrolled through the characters, this design caught my eye. It was not too elaborate, yet eye-catching. I love its bright color combination. The yellow and the white blends in together, giving the sense of the bright sunshine in the wolf.
Solar will definitely go on my stories, either alone or with my other characters. She will mostly be tagging along with six of my characters: Electric Shimmer, Orchid Glimmer, Pyrophoric Shine, Cryogenic Luster, Umbra Eclipse, and Aerofoil. She will be one of the 'misfits' and she will be something like the six's pup-hood friend. However, I don't usually share my stories on CS. She will also be the subject of art practice. I will practice drawing her design, as it's quite simple yet tied up beautifully. I will probably draw her with my other characters, if I get her. When and if I have a character thread, she will be displayed there, too. Solar will also star a few times in my signature, especially since I am working on a new signature with sun as the theme. I will also try to make an avatar of her.
Basic Character information - I chose this name because of various reasons. I am interested in scientific stuff, which is one of the primary reasons I chose this name. I also chose this name because the theme of this wolf is about the sun. At least, that is what the theme is to me. The brightness and happiness of sunlight seems to 'radiate' from the wolf. It's also quite cool that the name of the character resembles my username: Shimmer

Detailed Character InformationSolar Radiation has the amazing ability to control light. Mostly sunlight. She can bend sunlight at will. Solar sometimes has patches of sunlight under her paws. Solar Radiation can also concentrate sunlight enough so that it can burn something. She can control certain types of electromagnetic waves, such as infrared waves and ultraviolet waves, as both are present in sunlight. She can also cause sunlight to reflect off her body, which is amazing considering the fact that her fur is a non-reflective material. Solar Radiation has another amazing skill. She can "recharge" her energy by going into the sunlight. She can absorb the sunlight and gain more energy from it. Unlike plants, she, obviously, cannot photosynthesize. Solar Radiation can also create a shield or force field made out of sunlight, which might come in handy when her friends are in danger.
Solar Radiation, being part deer, has two small antlers growing out of her head. She can use them for many things. The most obvious use is for self defense. If there comes a time when she could not use her powers, she will use her antlers as self defense. However, they are not very long nor powerful, so they do not deal a lot of damage. Solar Radiation can also choose to hang items on her antlers, making them good item holders when Solar Radiation has more items to hold than she can actually hold.

The best word to describe Solar Radiation is optimistic. Solar is an amazing optimist who always sees the bright side of things. It does not mean that Solar can never get upset. It just means that she does not get upset as much as pessimists. Solar Radiation's optimism can be considered strange and crazy by others, but during the roughest and darkest time, it can give the hope needed in such a dire situation.
Solar Radiation is also a huge dreamer. After all, she thinks that the sky is the limit! She dreams of achieving a lot of things. Some of them may seem impossible. Other wolves look at her strangely and consider her dreams to be silly. Solar might sometimes feel down-hearted by this. However, the optimist shrugs their comments off. Just wait until they see what she can do!
Solar is a cheerful wolf. She likes to do things to cheer up herself and her friends. Her sunny attitude can bring cheer in gloom. However, Solar might sometimes be over-cheerful and over-playful. Solar's cheerfulness might sometimes be in the wrong time and place, much to the annoyance of her companions. Despite this, Solar actually knows when to be serious and when to joke around. She just sometimes try to lighten up serious situations by pushing her cheerfulness past the limit.
Solar can be clumsy at times. Well, maybe most of the time. Solar bumps into objects and trip over her paws. She might also accidentally destroy stuff. Her companions are usually careful when entrusting something fragile to Solar, as she might accidentally drop it and break it. Her clumsiness is quite lovable, yet it sometimes gets annoying when she breaks something important or gives her companions away during stealth missions by accidentally bumping into them. But really, they were accidents. You can't blame her!
Solar, despite this seemingly goofy personality, is actually quite intelligent. She is a quick learner who is always curious about the world around her. As a pup, she would always ask questions to herself. Such as, "Why do sunflowers face the sunlight?" Solar would sometimes test these questions using her abilities to find answer. When she does find an answer, she stores them safely in her mind. Anyways, she can spin jokes like it's nobody's business. Doesn't that also prove her intelligence?
Solar is usually thought to be rather crazy. Her optimism, dreams, over-cheerfulness, and clumsiness are usually thought to be rather bizarre. Other wolves think that Solar is being absurd when she tries to encourage wolves. "Easier said than done," they had always said. However, her friends know better. During tough times, Solar gives encouragement... and it actually worked! So, they know that Solar does not only say whatever insensible suggestion that comes into her mind.

Interview with Electric Shimmer (best friend)Me : Hello, Shimmer. I'd like to ask a few questions about your friend, Solar Radiation. What do you think of her?
Electric Shimmer : Solar? Oh, she's really nice! She lifts me up with her cheerfulness when I am feeling down. She helps me to conquer fears through laughter.
Me : Can you describe a little about her?
Electric Shimmer : Solar is rather goofy and silly. She is very optimistic and cheerful. However, she is surprisingly very intelligent. Her funny jokes are sometimes only thought up right at that moment. She's got wits, that's certain.
Me : I heard rumors that Solar is actually out of her mind. Is this true?
Electric Shimmer : No, not at all! She might seem a little crazy at first, but she is actually being crazy on purpose just to entertain us.
Me : What do you think of her powers?
Electric Shimmer : Being a wolf who can control electricity myself, I personally think that her powers are great! I mean, imagine being able to control and bend sunlight. Sunlight is, after all, a huge energy source and Solar is able to control it!
Me : Okay, thank you for your time!
Interview with Orchid Glimmer (other best friend)Me : Hello. I'd like to ask a few questions about your friend, Solar Radiation.
Orchid Glimmer : Solar? I'd love to answer them! What are the questions?
Me : Well, I'd like to know about your opinion of Solar.
Orchid Glimmer : Why, Solar is a great friend! She is lively and upbeat, always full of surprises. Her sunny attitude always manages to cheer me up.
Me : I see! Can you describe a little about her?
Orchid Glimmer : Well, like I said, she is lively and upbeat. She has a sunny attitude. Her jokes can lift us up from bad moods. I love the things she can do with her powers to entertain us.
Me : What did she do with her powers?
Orchid Glimmer : Well, she sometimes bend light into funny shapes. She once did a joke in a dark cave with only a little sunlight coming through. She hid her face in the dark. Then, she bent the sunlight towards her like a spotlight and put on a funny expression. It cracked us up.
Me : Wow, I wish I could've seen it! Speaking of powers, what do you think of Solar's powers?
Orchid Glimmer : I think it's really great! She likes to help me out. As you know, I can control plant growth. Solar likes to help me speed it up by bending sunlight at the plant's direction. She can also be a light source when I travel through a tunnel to unearth metals using my power.
Me : Wow! That's really helpful! I heard rumors about Solar being out of her mind. Is this true?
Orchid Glimmer : No way! Solar might seem crazy and absurd, but if she can think up of jokes in a split second, then she is VERY MUCH in a normal state of mind.
Me : I see! Well, thank you very much for your time!
Interview with Aerofoil (best friend)It was rather hard catching up with him as he was flying through the sky. However, it was finally managed.
Me : [Huffing and puffing] Aerofoil, I need to ask some questions about Solar!
Aerofoil : Whoa, easy there. Breathe slowly. There you go. Now, what's the question?
Me : What do you think of Solar Radiation?
Aerofoil : Solar? She's great fun.
Me : Okay... Can you tell me a little about her?
Aerofoil : Well, she's an optimist. She's funny, sunny, and stuff. Quite a jokester really.
Me : What do you think about her powers?
Aerofoil : She is awesome with it, actually. She can control sunlight at will. She can even reflect it off her fur. At first, I didn't think much of that ability. Then, Electric Shimmer said that it's amazing because fur is not usually reflective like this thing Orchid Glimmer plays with. Called iron.
Me : Do you believe in the rumors about Solar being out of her mind?
Aerofoil : Nah. Those are rumors. I know better. She just becomes crazy for our sake. Then, when we're happy, she reverts to her normal, optimistic nature.
Me : Okay, thanks for your time!
Note: I cannot get to her other best friends because they were too busy to answer anything. So, I decided to interview some non-friends.
Interview with Flare (a random wolf who knows about her)Me : Hello. Do you know Solar Radiation?
Flare : Solar Radiation? That weird wolf with antlers?
Me : Well... Um... If that is what you think of her. Can you describe her based on your point of view?
Flare : Well, she's just... weird. She has antlers and that kinda bothers me. She is usually over-excited, which can get annoying. Her powers are also strange, really. I don't know much about her, other than that.
Me : So, do you believe in the rumors about Solar being out of her mind?
Flare : Well, I dunno. Kinda. I dunno if she's out of her mind, but I do know that she's weird.
Me : Right. Thank you for your time!
Interview with Lightning Striker (one of the warriors in the pack)Me: Greetings, Lightning Striker. I believe that you know Solar Radiation.
Lightning Striker: Solar? [Huffs] I've no time for that misfit.
Me: I don't suppose you can answer some questions that I have regarding her?
Lightning Striker: Fine, go ahead.
Me: What do you think of her?
Lightning Striker: She's one of the misfits. She hangs around those misfits and are friends with those misfits. She's not fit to be in the pack, same like those other misfits. As for her personality, she's too hyper for my tastes. I normally take no notice of those misfits unless they do something that concerns me.
Me: Right. What do you think of her powers?
Lightning Striker: [Frowns] I've told you: she's one of the misfits. Her powers are what makes her a misfit. Look at Electric Shimmer: she could control lightning and electricity. Look at Pyrophoric Shine: she could control fire. And look at Solar Radiation: she could bend and control sunlight. Not to mention her strange deer-like antlers. She is a one-hundred percent pure misfit.
Me: Do you believe the rumors about Solar being out of her mind?
Lightning Striker: Well, I dunno. I don't pay attention much to rumors. I am a fighter. I am too busy protecting the pack. Ask those ladies over there. If you want to hear gossip, they have plenty to tell you. [Gestures a paw towards a group of female wolves talking together]
Me: Right. Thank you for your time!
Interview with Bubble Brook (one of the female wolves that Lightning Striker gestured at)Me: Hello, got a minute?
Bubble Brook: [Stops chattering] Sure. I'll be back soon, girls! Fill me in on what I missed!
Me: [Leads her to a quiet place] First thing, I want to know who you are and what your rank is.
Bubble Brook: Why, I am Bubble Brook, one of the hunters! You can call me Bubble or Brook.
Me: Alright. Nice to meet you, Bubble Brook! Do you know Solar Radiation?
Bubble Brook: Of course I do! One of those misfit wolves, right? I know everyone and anyone in the pack!
Me: So, what do you think of her?
Bubble Brook: I think she's weird! She can control sunlight and she has antlers. Even her coat looks weird. You know... [Lowers voice] Waterfall Mist- that's one of my friends- thinks that Solar is some kind of mutant alien from a distant universe. Of course, that sounds absurd. Waterfall can be absurd sometimes, but I think there's something in what she said. No, not a mutant alien from a distant universe, but there is something strange about her. Mm-hmm. [Nods]
Me: Right. Do you believe the rumors about Solar being out of her mind?
Bubble Brook: Oh, yes! Well, sort of. You see, Solar is hyper and sometimes talk in nonsense words. I have heard her- yes, with my own ears!- saying something like "tooply-wooply jeriferi waddle." Whatever could that mean!
Me: What an interesting statement! Thank you for your time!
Bubble Brook: No problem! If you ever need another chat, I'd be happy to give you one.
History I did not know how I first came to be. All I remembered was sunshine. The bright sunlight beat down on me as I woke up in the middle of a sunflower field. All I saw around me was brightness. Bright colors, bright lights, bright skies. It was pleasing. Very pleasing. I stood on my paws, teetering a little. As soon as I regained balance, I began walking through the sunflower field. A smile was plastered on my face as I admired the cheerful scenery. It was amazing. Very amazing. Suddenly, I felt myself being yanked backwards. I looked up. My antlers bumped into one of the sunflower stems and got caught. I quickly pulled myself away and continued walking. I stepped into a bright patch of sunshine. "Ow!" I exclaimed as the light reflected into my eyes. I yanked my paws away from the patch. I put my paws forwards. "Whoa," I breathed as I discovered a strange fact. I could bend light! I played around with the light, spreading them across the sunflowers. I pranced around the sunflower field, continuing to play. Soon, I came to a grassy meadow. I flopped down on the bright, green grass. Patches of sunlight were stuck on my paws as I waved my paws around. My brown eyes caught sight of tall trees quite near. Curious, I got up and decided to explore.
I stepped into the dark, dense forest. I felt a little scared at first. It wasn't like the bright meadow I just left. Suddenly, I heard howls. My fur stood on end. I have never heard something like that before! I cautiously walked to the source of the sound and hid behind a tree. There were many canines walking around. Wolves, just like me! Except for the antlers. Suddenly, two wolves came up to me. I almost jumped out of my fur. They were around my size. One of the wolves had a serious expression. She was black with blue markings on her paws and neck. Her piercing yellow eyes seemed just as serious as her expression. The other wasn't as serious. She was white with twisty plants growing up her leg. A twisty rose plant grew along her tail. She had kindly green eyes. "Have you ever seen anything like her before?" the not-so-serious one said.
"No," the serious one replied. Then, she gave me a small push and an inward snarl. "Let's take her to the alpha," the serious one said. The two wolves kept pushing me towards a direction. Soon, we came to a HUGE wolf with natural fur color. "Electric Shimmer and Orchid Glimmer, what have you brought here?" he asked.
"A strange wolf with strange markings and antlers," the not-so-serious one said.
The wolf scowled when he heard this. He eyed me suspiciously. Then, he turned to the two wolves. "I have been kind enough to let you two misfits live in pack territory and this is what you brought me!? Another alien!?" he thundered. Suddenly, he lunged at me with his teeth bared. Scared, I bent a little ray of sunlight at the wolf's face. He snarled as soon as the sunlight hits his eyes. "Furious!" a voice called out. An elderly wolf rushed towards us. He stepped in front of the huge wolf. "Furious, you know that the pack rules prevent us from harming any pup," the elder said.
"Yes, Alpha," the wolf said, subsiding.
"What should we do with her, Alpha?" the serious wolf asked.
"She can live in pack territory. At least, until she is old enough," the elderly wolf said, nodding.
"Th-thank you," I said, rather shaken by the whole experience. The two wolves escorted me away. The not-so-serious wolf was so excited, that I actually felt relieved. "My name is Orchid Glimmer and that is my friend, Electric Shimmer! What's yours?" the wolf asked.
"I- I'm not-" I started to say, looking at a patch of sunlight on the ground. I felt a strange connection to it. It was as if the sunlight was beckoning to me. I continued walking. "Solar. Solar Radiation," I said, the words seeming to tumble out of my snout. I looked at Orchid Glimmer and then at Electric Shimmer. Electric Shimmer's face was still serious. It clearly shows that she is a no-nonsense wolf.
Days went by as I got to know Electric Shimmer and Orchid Glimmer very well. I also met four of their other friends. Three of them were male wolves named Aerofoil, Umbra Eclipse, and Cryogenic Luster. The fourth was a female named Pyrophoric Shine. As the days went by, I became close friends with all of them. I also found out that the seven of us were considered 'misfits' because of our strange abilities and coat patterns. Electric Shimmer could control lightning and electricity. Orchid Glimmer could control the earth and plants. Pyrophoric Shine could control fire. Aerofoil could control wind and gases. He had wings. Cryogenic Luster- or commonly called as Cryo- was part wolf and part ice. He could control ice and water. Umbra Eclipse- or commonly called as Umbra- could control shadows and darkness. We spent our days together as pups. Time seemed to fly by as we gradually grew up to become young teenagers.
One day, we went to a cave. It was dark and it was scary, but the healer wolf, Sage Leaf, needed us to find a special kind of mushroom in there. She was one of the few normal wolves who appreciated us, the misfits. Of course, we had to do something for her to make up for the countless of services she gave the pack and the many, many times she had to stand up for us. "Whatever you do, beware of the falling rocks. If you're stuck there, you're a goner. The shadow beasts will get you," Sage Leaf had warned. I maintained a cheerful disposition. Orchid Glimmer was standing guard in front of the cave, in order to try to hold up any falling rocks in case they come and giving us sufficient time to actually run away.
"Found some!" Electric Shimmer said, picking up the mushrooms. Suddenly, the cave started to rumble. "Guys!! Quick!!" Orchid Glimmer screamed. We were a long way in the back of the cave. We quickly ran and ran, trying to get out. We saw Orchid Glimmer holding up a load of rocks with her magic. Suddenly, she gave way out of fatigue. The rocks fell, blocking the entrance of the cave. We were trapped! Electric Shimmer quickly generated electricity. Lightning bolts encircled her legs, neck, tail, and one of her ears. Light blue glowing markings appeared on her tail. I saw a sliver of sunlight between a small crack in the pile rocks. I quickly pounced on it. Patches of sunlight formed on my paws, creating more light. Suddenly, sunlight reflected off my fur, lighting up the cave a little. Pyrophoric Shine burst into fire. At least, we could see each other now. Suddenly, wisps of shadow flitted around us. Umbra tried to get them away with his dark magic, but they did not want to go. "Food......" A sinister whisper echoed through the cave. "We're doomed! Doomed!" my friends lamented.
"Come on, guys. It isn't that bad. Once Orchid Glimmer recovers, I'm sure that we'll get out!" I said cheerfully.
"Not before the shadow beasts get us," Pyro lamented. Suddenly, she gave a shriek as one shadow beast flitted around her. My friends jumped away in fright. I watched my friends' scared faces, one after another. Then, I looked straight at the shadow beast. It looked a little bit comic, with its bent red eyes and deformed shape. Suddenly, I gave a giggle. I stuck out my tongue and reflected sunlight at the beast. "Gotcha!" I shouted. My friends looked surprised. The shadow beast roared and went away. "Fight them with happiness! They can't stand happiness!" I said. Then, I made faces at one beast. The beast shrieked and went away. My friends started playing around with the shadow beasts, laughing. The shadow wisps couldn't stand the sound of laughter. Suddenly, Orchid Glimmer stood up. "I'm feeling better now.. I'll remove the rocks," she said. She used her magic to carefully pick off the rocks as we kept laughing at the shadow beasts. Soon, Orchid Glimmer was done. We quickly went out, still laughing and giggling. "Did you see the look on that beast's face? It went..." Pyro said, making a funny, scrunched-up face. We laughed, prancing home. I looked at the patches of bright sunlight and smiled. I hadn't been welcomed very well by the pack, what with Electric Shimmer being all stern and Beta Furious getting all angry. But, I realized that this is the role I was meant to play. I was meant to bring happiness and help others see the bright side of things. I was meant to help them laugh in the face of fear. I smiled to myself. I silently promised myself that I would be an optimist whenever I can and help my friends to be one, too. I don't know where I came from, or who I was. However, when I am with my friends, I realized that this was the best place to be. This is my home.

Fears 1. Being alone with nobody nearby.
Solar Radiation would go nuts if there was nobody to listen to her. She had horrible nightmares of the pack territory being completely deserted of friends and other wolves. In her nightmares, there weren't any other creatures except dead plants!
2. Darkness with no light at all.
Solar Radiation feels confined in the darkness. She would fidget restlessly as she could not see anything and feels completely blind. Just a ray of light would be enough. She's afraid of losing her powers in the dark, as she feels that the darkness would try to squash her. However, she would still be a little comfortable if she knew that her friends were nearby.
3. Not being able to laugh anymore.
Laughing is a vital part of Solar Radiation's life. She also had nightmares about being struck by an illness that causes her not to be able to laugh forever. She described the feeling in her nightmares as 'having your tummy stretched out to its limit, but not being able to release the pressure'.
4. Losing her memory.
Her vivid memories are one of the most important things to Solar Radiation. While she would gladly let go of the bad ones, which sometimes haunt her, she would prefer to keep all of her memories rather than lose all. She does not want to let go of the bright, happy memories that she has.
5. Losing her friends.
Her friends are the most important wolves to her, as she does not know her actual family. They've acted like a family to her. Losing them means losing part of herself. If they had just left her or got into a fight with her, she would desperately try to make up to them. No, she was afraid that she would lose them forever. As in, an accident. She would not bear to lose her six best friends, although she would also be greatly depressed if she lost her other close friends like Shatter.
6. Losing the ability to joke around.
Jokes are also very important to Solar. In fact, it's what highlights her personality. Without the ability to make jokes, she would hardly seem as the wolf she is right now. Solar is afraid that she might lose her sense of humor, thus not being able to joke around.

Interesting Words Solar Radiation sometimes makes up silly words, something like the "tooply-wooply jeriferi waddle" that Bubble Brook overheard as mentioned earlier in the interview section. While for some of the words we don't know the meaning of, interview with her friends and Solar Radiation herself managed to get us with some satisfying results.

2. Gibbervlushur

Meaning: "Gibbervlushur is Solar's word for gossiper, adding an 's' at the back to make it plural. When some wolves spread bad things about us, she sometimes says 'Don't listen to those gibbervlushurs!'." - Electric Shimmer
3. Kitarcupular

Meaning: "Kitarcupular is Solar's supposedly silly word for caterpillars. While she says 'caterpillars' most of the time, she sometimes say 'Aww, look at that cutesy-cuddly kitarcupulars!'." -Orchid Glimmer
4. Waddly-wurble-wibblers

Meaning: "Waddly-wurble-wibblers are Solar's silly word for birds. She never uses it in single form, and only uses it to refer many birds. Mostly ducks or birds with high-pitched trills. Anything that she considers cute, though." -Aerofoil
5. Frupli topply puffles

Meaning: "Nothing, really. It's just a silly expression. Like when you're surprised. Frupli topply puffles! Was that a cat I saw?" -Solar Radiation

Note about above quote: Atomizer is the demonic nature of Shatter (Solar Radiation's friend) which sometimes corrupt him.Art
