Snail Raptors "Snaptors"

Snaptors are small, raptor-like mammalians who inhabit a chain of tropical islands. They are a highly intelligent, communal species who use tools; they have a recent mastery over fire, sail short distances between islands, and create complex structures.

They are faculative bipeds who retain the ability to run on all fours while still benefitting from dexterous forelimbs, including thumbs with sensitive fingerpads. They have a stiff tail to counterbalance their heavier torso, and small feelers on their head used for communication and social gestures.

Shells are worn as an accessory, fixed with a band around the torso. They use them for small item storage, and some flexible snaptors are able to retreat inside of their shells much like hermit crabs.

Most snaptors resemble Pebble (#001), the island's chieftan.
However, there are several divergent subspecies with unique benefits during foraging.

Island Subtype:
concharaptor insula insula

The common snaptor. They have dexterous fingers and
standard stamina over long distances.
Require boats to travel between islands.

Aquatic Subtype:
concharaptor insula marinus

Marine snaptors who spend their lives much like pinnipeds.
Able to dive into the reefs surrounding the islands, though their flippers are
clumsy on land and lacking in dexterity.

Reef forage location open
Can carry up to 1 snaptor to another island
20% forage failure chance; roll for aquatic loot when applicable

Yes and no:
You can make a Snaptor or Snaptor-based oc: the species is open, and I love seeing new ideas!
You cannot make a Snaptor for use in forum games, events, or UMA activities! If they don't have an official ID, they won't be included!
