What are Aspinx?
Aspinx are a type of sphinx-like nature spirit who were once human, and blessed with a new form and abilities by an elemental deity.

Each Aspinx has a certain elemental affinity, which is signified by the color of the bright accents in their otherwise natural fur. They also have basic magical abilities such as telekinesis and telepathy.

Aspinx are immortal and commonly spend their endless lives protecting a specific place in nature, though some have started to integrate back into human society.

The setting is vaguely medieval fantasy and may be expanded upon later.

How do I get one?
Everyone can get 1 free starter MYO. The main way to get more characters is to buy an adoptable, custom, or MYO slot with C$. MYO slots will also be in the shop for species currency. There will occasionally be free raffles and competitions as well!

Design features:

▸ Humanlike face with animal nose. Nose has a strip of velvety fur that blends into the forehead.

▸ Human hands and birdlike back feet.

▸ Stocky body with thick fur. Fur can be different lengths/styles

▸ Mostly natural fur colors. (Reds, browns, blondes, creams, blacks, whites, gray/blue gray) Fur can can be dyed but there should be an undyed reference. Skin on face and hands is any natural human skintone.

▸ Markings don't have to be natural, but should stray away from manmade concepts and intricate objects/scenes.

▸ Elemental accent in a bright color. The accent can be anywhere on the body but should be very minimal. Accent markings can be glyphs/symbols/objects

▸ Wide eyes that can be any color. Pupils are only round or slit.

▸ Ears on the sides of the head, any mammal style

▸ Any mammal style tail

Most Aspinx are considered natural rarity. Occasionally there will be Aspinx released with evolved, enchanted, or cursed traits.

Designs do not have to be on the base! But there is a base so 1. I can make adopts a lot faster 2. people who don't know how to draw can still color their own MYOs

Special Traits

Traits in this species don't really have "tiers"; evolved, enchanted, and cursed Aspinx are equally rare. (But will not be impossible to obtain)

Special traits can be mixed. An Aspinx could even be all three, though they would probably have quite a story to tell.

Evolved
Evolved Aspinx have an especially strong connection to nature, and take on traits of animals that are native to their environment.
Evolved Aspinx can have any animal trait not available to natural Apsinx. This includes things like goat pupils, horns, hooves, patagium, scales, non-mammal tails, fins, wings, and many more!

Enchanted
Enchanted Aspinx have achieved mastery over their element, and can take on more fantastical traits.
Enchanted Aspinx have unlimited colors/markings/pupil shapes, can glow, can have halos/floating auras, and can have their element start to affect parts of their body (such as flaming fur or a plant tail.)

Cursed
Most Aspinx are blessed, but cursed Aspinx have a less fortunate origin. The curse may be a punishment for wrongdoings they committed as a human, or an unlucky accident caused by hauntings or interacting with a cursed object. They have very limited magical ability, and no elemental accent. They also exhibit more "horror" traits, such as facelessness, goop, exposed bone, many limbs/eyes, spikes/odd branching growths, fragmented form, and any other spooky things you can think of. (Note that design and lore should still be PG!)

Elemental accents:
Earth: red
Fire: orange
Light: yellow
Plant: green
Water: blue
Shadow: purple
Air: pink

Rules

▸ Aspinx are a closed species. You may not make your own without a MYO or special permission. I do not own the concept of elemental creatures or sphinxes, however Aspinx are a specific idea.

▸ If you bought your Aspinx with C$, you may sell it, but only for C$. You cannot sell free Aspinx.

▸ Aspinx and Aspinx item/MYOs tickets may be traded for items/characters outside the species as long as that species allows outside trading.

▸ You are allowed to take commissions to design an Aspinx for someone who has a MYO slot.

▸ You may make changes to your Aspinx designs, but these changes will need to be submitted for approval. The design will need to be recognizable, and you can't add higher rarity traits without an item.

▸ There is no limit on how many Aspinx you may own.

▸ An Aspinx can be an AU of an existing OC that you own.

▸ You are responsible for maintaining your own archive, please make sure it is up to date and all the proofs are correct. I can definitely help you if you lose something though!

▸ Aspinx cannot be co-owned.

▸ When an adopt is closed, it is closed. Do not enter for or bump an adopt that has passed its end date.

▸ No bigotry or discrimination will be tolerated within this community. This is a bannable offense.

▸ Harassment will not be tolerated. Do not guilt-trip or whine at a staff member (or anyone else) to do something for you. If you feel something is being handled incorrectly, contact me.

If you are banned, your Aspinx will not be revoked, and you can keep them on their original reference, though you will not be able to participate in the community or recieve any more. You can trade an Aspinx if you're banned, but you will not be able to get it back.

Bans will not be listed publicly.

How do I start getting myself an Aspinx?
First, you need an archive! Archives should be made in the Character Storage forum.

Your archive should have images of every Aspinx you own, as well as a link to where you got them.
There should also be sections for currency you earned and spent, and items you own, with links to where you got them. If you use an item you can cross it out or delete it. The currency logs should stay though.

You can also write about your Apsinx's story/personality, but it's not required.

You can format and decorate your archive in any way you like as long as I can tell what's going on and the proof is accessible. Do not use discord links! They expire after 24 hours.

Since you don't have anything yet, you can leave it mostly blank for now!

Once you've made an archive, you automatically get 1 free natural MYO. Head over to the MYOs/Customs thread to get it approved.

Everyone has access to 1 free MYO. This does not go away if you win an adoptable before you get to make it.
