Known to locals as "Spirit Guardians" - Valludin's are a closed species that are tpically identified by their beak-like nose stumpy bodies and an "imprinted" item, Valludin's come in all shapes, sizes and colours.
They are omnivorous, feasting mainly on a diet of plants and small birds/rodents and live in packs called "camps".
They can live for centuries and spend the majority of their younger life searching for their imprint. Once they find their imprint, the blank eyes they are born with will change to match the object.
There are different known sub-species of Valludin who have evolved to live in different habitats, the "typical valludin, however, is known to prefer woodland environments where they can hunt and tend to use their long tails to dangle from trees to sleep, safe from any predator.

Imprints are the term used for the items each valludin treasures most.
Each valludin searches for their imprint from a young age and are only made aware that they have found it once their eyes change colour; a magically sensation each valludin must go through before finding their place in their camp. For example: one valludin may imprint on a crystal and become a mage who studies them in order to perform magic for other valludin within their camp, another may imprint on a particular herb and train as an apothicary to help heal their fellow camp valludin.
Along with the eye change, valludins also display their imprints on themselves at all times. They do this as it becomes a vital part of themselves. They wear their imprints as a badge of honour.
It is rare a valludin struggles to find their imprint. Most known print-less are driven to the verge of madness while trying to discover their imprint, desperate to find their role in their camp. They can still see and do usual tasks but tend to struggle adhering to a single profession or role.

Valludin camp's are the close-knit communities that valludins tend to live within. These "camps" usually consist of 15-30 valludin, with almost all that are of-age having already discovered their imprint and putting their talents to use.
Their are various roles and ranks within the camps with the highest being Alpha's and elder's.
There are many roles within these camps and they function as small civilizations where each valludin provides a service to their community and they tend to prosper well.
Each camp follows the teachings of a chosen deity/deities. These teachings are passed down through generations and are seen as rules for the camp.

Deities are valludin who were deemed worthy by the "celestial deities". The prime example of this is Stolas; the star walker. Stolas imprinted on the stars themselves and was granted the powers of a deity due to his kind and helpful nature and the fact he continuously went out of his ways to teach generations of valludin.
Deities wander the valludin world, teaching their powers to younger generations and learning more as they go along. Camp valludin will occasionally meet the deities and have the opportunity to breed with them unlocking rare and even legendary traits!
Breeding with a deity only produces a single kit per litter but these "demi-deities" will have more powers and ranking than the standard valludin.
A new deity can be named at any moment, particularly during celestial events. These deities outrank all except the celestials.

Valludin have many roles within their camps.
Each role is unique in its own way and each valludin may be better suited for some roles than others.

Alpha - Leader of their camp. They call the shots and do their best to keep everything running smoothly
Elder - The eldest members of the camp. They are usually called on for their wisdom and knowledge in tough times.
Soldier - The strongest members of the camp. They protect the camp from predators or other camps who wander into their territory
Mage - The magicians of the camp. Mages can usually conjure items for other valludin... for a price.
