Welcome, we're so glad you're here! Masques is a work in progress. Lore, rules and assets are subject to change but the thread will post updates to keep all informed.

✦ GENERAL RULES ✦

✷ Of course, all CS rules apply.

✷ No spamming the thread.

✷ Do not recreate or steal any of the artwork/contents of Masques – text and any graphics (artwork like titles, etc.) included.

✷ Do not claim Masques that have not been commissioned, given to or won by you.

✷ Masques themselves are a concept that can be recreated as an OC, however, this character would not be affiliated with the Masques UMA. Masques are closed in the sense that only official artists can create official Masques. You may not use Masques lines to create an OC inspired by the concept.

✷ Trading for Masques is allowed, full rules will be in the trading thread.

✷ Breeding Masques must be conducted by an official artist. Full rules in breeding thread.

✦ DESIGN & ART RULES ✦

**more detailed breakdown coming soon! Masques have a base body, base tail, and a mask.
Customs are fully custom.

Masques are intended with the concept of full creativity within some rules. There are only a few requirements that a Masque must meet. Bases may come and go. Expect new poses and body types in the future.

✷ Only officially created Masques are “real” – this means official artist Masques, that have an ID.

✷ Masques uses binary/pixel art, outer lineart is thicker than inner lineart. They use cel shading but some exemptions may be made. They MUST have lineart, and it should either be darker than their body or completely contrasting it. The Lines must be clear and obvious.

✷ All Masques MUST have a mask! Their true(?) face can never be shown. For this reason, transparent masks are not permitted.

✷ Masques have opposable thumbs on their front paws; exceptions can be made.

✷ A “mask” can be anything that covers the face, in any style, as long as the artwork complies with CS rules.

✷ Masques can have wildly different bodies, as long as the general design is recogniseable. So, for example, a standard Masque can have a different body such as canine, feline, reptile, etc.

✷ Copyright material cannot be pictured on a Masque. You may use IPs as inspiration, but cannot have a direct copy.

✦ TIER SYSTEM ✦

Masks also work in Standard, Unique and Special tier which is seperate from the Masque itself. Masks can be changed and swapped!

✦ STANDARD TIER MASQUES ✦

Usually found in raffles. All standard Masques have the following limitations:

✷ 3-4 limbs, no wings, 1 or maximum 2 tails.

✷ A mask that is WITHIN the head lineart (it cannot be outside the head lineart).

✷ Mask material cannot be: precious gems or metals; holographic/glitter.

✦ UNIQUE TIER MASQUES ✦

Sometimes found in raffles/events and the Boutique.
All unique Masques have the following limitations:

✷ 2-6 limbs (including wings), maximum 4 tails with 0 being allowed.

✷ A mask that can exceed the head lineart by no more than 50%.

✷ Mask material cannot be: precious gems or metals.

✷ Large edits to original body lines allowed.

✦ SPECIAL TIER MASQUES ✦

Only found as customs, or special breedings. All special Masques must follow the general art rules, but have no limitations on limbs, tails or masks. These have completely new lines that may be one-time only.

✦ THE MASQURADE ✦

Here you can find raffle Masques! Raffles are always FREE to enter, and usually have a theme. All Masques within a raffle are considered to be related and cannot breed.

✷ accounts must be 2 months or older to enter.
✷ do not delete the litter tag!
✷ you must have a co-op post. co-op post must already be in place and up to date if already existing. Do not make multiple co-op posts!
✷ re-read your form before submitting; edits are permitted only with good reason, which is explained in the post itself not a follow-up comment.
✷ how to enter: either select individual id tags OR say “all”
