Elizabeth St. James was complicated,
that's what they all say.
But really Eli was just a plain old girl,
born and raised in South Carolina,
then moved to California because of
her god mother. As Eli skateboarded over
to her boy friends house, she thought of all
those things. Gia Berry, her god
mother, was a sweet kind old lady. The sort of
girl that would brighten your
day just by smiling. Then Eli wondered
about California, as she swerved to
avoid hitting a boy walking along the sidewalk.
For some reason
Eli thought of it as a purple state, strange but true.
And as she thought
another all of these things she realized that this
whole thought translation
had started when Eli had eaten a cheeseburger that
Gia made, and wondered
about the woman, that led to thinking of what
people call her, and that led to her thoughts
about California and that led her thoughts to
this right here.

Eli reached a finger up to her temple and
rubbed it hard.
Maybe she was complicated
like people said. The thing is, she is a
total literature geek,
she writes, and types poems like no other
person in
California. Too many times has she
written a poem
about preposterous things, as Gia
called it. Like once,
for her fifth grade poem
circle, she wrote a poem about
umbrella's catching
frogs and turtles in its- Eli paused,
what were those things
called? At the top of the umbrella?
The sheet cover thing?
Sighing she pulled into Lucas' drive
and flipped her skateboard
right into her hand. Grasping the
coarse edges tightly, she
climbed up the stairs leading
too her boyfriends front door and
reached for the handle.
Just as she was about to open the
big grey door, a
large crack of thunder split the sky
and rang in Eli's ears
rain started pouring down on her head.
Pulling her skateboard over her forehead
to stop the icy droplets from hitting her
face, she reached for the handle and
tried to pull it wide open. But there
was just one problem, it was locked.

“Trust me, Wilbur. People are very gullible. They'll believe anything they see in print.”
― E.B. White, Charlotte's Web
16//female//going to the library//wearing high tops and beanie hat +wolf sweatshirt//Reading Maximum Ride//

Charlotte’s eyelids fluttered open, with sunlight streaming from the windows and birds singing in the background, Charlotte knew it was her birthday. Every year, Charlotte had the best birthday ever; nothing had ever been canceled or moved on her birthday. Not even a single raindrop was dropped onto the ground.
Charlotte smiled at the ceiling. “Time for the best day ever,” It was her seventeenth birthday, and she was absolutely, terrifically, almost shining with happiness.
Maybe a car…or maybe a TV for her room! She thought of good birthday present ideas as she peered into her large closet, looking for something to wear. High heels, no, large sweat shirt, no, and finally a long strapless purple top was thrown on top of her large pile of “no’s”.
Here we are,” Charlotte beamed as she held up the large tank top with a wolf printed on the front. Throwing on some too tight skinny jeans and converse that fit her feet perfectly, she literally skipped out of the room.
Jumping off the last step of the long flight of stairs, Charlotte bounced into a pile of cushions lying on the couch. “Be careful that’s silk!” her aunt called from downstairs in the kitchen.
Charlotte’s aunt, Mia Hatchway, was all about the fancy life. Ever since Charlotte’s mother died and her father moved away, Charlotte had lived with her aunt. “Mia!!” Charlotte rolled her eyes and stepped off the maroon leather couch. Picking up a pillow and pitching it too the nearby rocking chairs.
Charlie, dear, why don’t you call your friends and tell them to come over okay?” Mia called from the kitchen while she flipped a pancake, and failed watching it flop lifelessly onto the ground.
“Okay,” she shouted down sitting on the ground with her iPhone in one hand her copy of Maximum ride in the other.
“Hi, hey! How are you? This is Harriet Westing, if your hearing this that means I’m not at the phone right now! But call back later or leave a message after the beep!” a quiet beep came out of the receiver.
“Listen Harriet, meet at the library. I have to go there, my two copies of Jane Eyre and Maximum ride just came in too my reserve. I. need. Those. Books!” Charlotte finished hitting the button ‘2’.
“Hey! You’ve reached Justin Hemming, I’m probably doing something really cool right now so call me later by!” I repeated the same message to Justin, even rolling my eyes at his stupid little ring tone.
My iPhone, a sparkly white case with a rose in the center was my gift two years ago when I was turning fifteen. Replacing my old blackberry I’d gotten when I was ten.
As I quickly made a run for the library, I examined it on the outside. For the first time ever examining our old library from top to bottom

Venus shook her head at Light, "Nope, I'm new, so I have no people I'd go to the dance with...Maybe just a group this year," of course Venus let off the slightest hint of a lie. She had never gone dancing before, heck, even thinking of dancing made her remember her old boyfriend who loved dancing. Feeling the puky feeling again, Venus took a step back, she decided to study the others instead of talk. She noticed a lot of things just by waiting and watching. Glancing at Angelica, she noticed a small smile planted firmly on her lips, but a slight twitch seemed to pass her face every time someone spoke. Like it annoyed her somehow. She decided that Angelica was one of those people who kept there feelings inside. Venus stole a look at Isaac and saw that him and Lucas were having an accidental staring contest. Isaac was defiantly that punk, loner type guy, like he'd hang out with just about anyone, and if you we're talking wouldn't listen unless it were him you were talking about.

Venus smiled, Lucas was so laid back it was almost funny. That cool look in his eye as he stared down Isaac, as if too say back off. From who? She wondered, probably Light. At first glance her and Lucas looked related. Brother and sister, maybe cousins. But now, seeing them interact...It was still hard to imagine them girl friend and boy friend. She pondered on this for awhile, maybe just good friends. Venus concluded, but still felt a nag at the back of her mind. A quote her aunt once told her. A boy and a girl can be best friends, but at one point in their friendship one will like the other. Why did this bother Venus so much? Probably because Isaac seemed like a cool dude, and he was about to have his heart broken...And their was no way Venus would let someone else's heart get destroyed by love other then her. Then she noticed little Faith staring at her, she gave Faith a little pat on the head. And laughed softly, she seemed like a shy little girl. Faith would go far in the world, Venus thought smiling, she was pretty, nice, shy, and would get everything she wanted just by holding out her hand.

Cricket was blown away when he picked her up, softly she started smiling again. "Hey, I smell amazing." She laughed following him towards the park. Venders and Shops dotted the street like a huge connect the dots game. Feeling butterflies she let go of Aaron's hand, ignoring whatever he was saying. Was he talking about pop tarts? Cricket felt a tug in her belly when he grasped her hand again, there it was; love. Cricket danced inside, why now? She thought while hurriedly pulling Aaron through the street.. She'd known him for what, ten years know? And this had just started to happen. 'Gosh' Cricket mumbled, she was feeling light headed. Either it was love or a major seizure coming on, she thought clutching her head and massaging her temples. This was getting out of hand, she thought as another tug wracked her body. If this was love, Cricket wanted nothing to do with it. She dropped Aaron's hand and gulped in a breath of relief as the tug's stopped. As he kept on walking, she realized Aaron hadn't seen her pains. Wiping the sweat off of her brow, she continued down the street. Walking up to a vender and buying a chili dog, only a trace of the earlier light headedness gone.

"Every winter,
When the great sun has turned his face away,
The earth goes down into a vale of grief,
And fasts, and weeps, and shrouds herself in sables,
Leaving her wedding-garlands to decay -
Then leaps in spring to his returning kisses."

Alana stared at her boots, her frosted blonde locks flowing in the blistering cold wind. "No, Jacey your right. " Alana spoke softly but her voice slightly grew louder with every word. "But there are plenty of *sses to go around," she spoke clearly now. Her voice traveled over to the boys ears, hopping to find Harry's. She locked arms with Kalee's, and smiled softly showing her slight dimples. But inside Alana was dying of confusion. She remembered the night on the porch, with her and Harry going back and forth. Why did he have to sign up for the X factor and leave his best friend at her house?! He never answered her calls, texts or anything on the show. And then when he came back sad because he lost, and needed someone to talk too, Alana had slammed the door in his face. When her mom died and he was still on the show, what did he do? Nothing! Alana had cried many times when he didn't pick up the phone, and now he expected her sympathy? She had tears stinging the corner of her eyes lightly, just thinking about that night. And, though it was horrible to think about, Alana had liked him at one point. Loved him, was a better phrase. And now that she had seen him for the first time in years, all she felt was a horrible pull in her gut. Alana's bright green eyes and become seething cauldrons of rage, almost like Alana felt as if she could run someone with them. Preferably Harry.

Waking up in the morning and practically leaping out of the bed too snatch her leather bound notebook was just a morning routine for this nineteen year old girl. Juno was a writer and would scream it too the world if she had too, this girl almost hated everything except writing. This was the girl who was bullied for her talents, and this was the girl who was abused by her parents. How is Juno still alive you ask? Well, when everything else failed, writing was her benefactor. She tried everything to get out of the monrose depths of depression. Drugs, Alcohol, and many other sinister things. But the burning sensation the whiskey and nicotine brought made her sick. A school assignment on writing is what set the fire. Now enough about Juno's past, it was 8:00 am when the alarm went on screeching throughout the house. It echoed off the bare walls, stripped of there child hood finger paintings, and soon a screaming girl straightened up in her bed. The delict figure stopped her screaming and took five deep breaths. "One, two, three-," Juno counted slowly. The nightmares had gotten her again, there tendrils of terror always tried to suffocate her. As the stick like girl tried to remember what had started her off screaming, Juno suddenly thought of it. She'd been in the dark forest again. A place her mind had taken her ever since she was three, a place that so terrifying that Juno almost never slept to avoid the atrocious beasts that haunted the dark reaches of her mind. Staring at her clock half way across the room, Juno tried to make out the time. But it was fuzzy and were those zeroes or eights? The girl's mind cleared from the morning haze, and she was suddenly able to recall her myopia, or it was most commonly known as being nearsighted. Shoving her navy blue ray bands up her face and resting on the bride of her nose Juno saw the time, 8:10 am already!..

Scrambling out of her bed, and slipping on a pair of sneakers, Juno ran out to get her parents breakfast. Her room wasn't a pretty one, but it was alright. Messy piles of clothes and books in some nooks and niches, the other corners had piles of pillows and blankets. Juno lived in a three wall finished basement, with lots of cupboards and crevices. It was an oddly shaped room, more like a triangle then the normal square that you'd usually find in a house. Stomping up the stairs, Juno heard a slight shaking in her parents bed, "Crap," Juno was worried her parents could hear her, but her raspy voice was barely audible because it was rarely used. Skidding to a halt, Juno realized there were no clean dishes. Rubbing her temple, the girl grabbed some bowls instead. 'You can make bacon in a bowl, right?' but she was too tired to care. After carefully microwaving the bacon, eggs, and sausages she rested them nicely on a plate. Juno walked up their short spiral staircase all the way up to her parents bedroom, it was a big room. Half the ceiling a sky light and the other half a starry pattern engraved into the boards. As for the carpet, it was an amazing charcoal color with long fronds that when your feet step on it, they practically sink into it. Juno laid the breakfast at her mother and father's bed side an quickly retreated into her backyard.
