While I was working on my Aywas pets and turning them into characters, I started playing The Walking Dead and I immediately got inspiration for them. I only have a few customs on the site at the moment (and they're all girls OTL but I should be getting a boy soon) but more will be introduced as I make them uvu

I'm also leaving certain things up to you guys. Who becomes involved with who, who gets attacked and how major it is, etc.
I'll try to keep this as clean as possible for those of you who enjoy apocalypse stories, but don't necessarily enjoy the blood.
I really hope you guys enjoy this and please let me know what you think!

For your entertainment, I'll be making a playlist of songs that I think Zillah wouldn't mind blasting while she killed waves of undead. You can find it here. I'll always be adding more!

Bios

Vinosity: Goes by Vin. A fifteen-year-old girl who was separated from her parents during evacuation. Has a sweet tooth, especially for gingerbread. Looks up to Sia and considers her an older sister. Doesn’t have much of a role in the survivors as she’s a lousy shot and most of the group feels morally obligated to keep her safe, given her age.

Sia: A twenty-three-year old woman with a short temper. Stumbled upon Vin in an abandoned toy shop and has since ‘adopted’ her. Extremely aggressive and enjoys starting petty arguments amongst her fellow survivors to pass the time. Only shows compassion to Vin. Constantly wounded as she never sits out of a fight. A tank.

Glissade: A twenty-four-year old woman and the oldest of the Morrison sisters. The voice of reason for the group. She is constantly scolding Sia for her antics and acting as a mediator. Has a past that dabbled in combat training, so she and her sisters are always on the front line.

Capri: A twenty-one-year old woman and the middle Morrison sister. Socially inept and sticks mainly to her sisters. Fidgety around others, especially men, and is prone to muttering, blushing and giggling nervously. When she’s paired against an undead, she’s an entirely different person.

Zillah: An eighteen-year old girl and the youngest of the Morrison sisters. Affectionately referred to as Godzilla. Has the personality of a ten-year-old and the looks to boot. Shorter than even Vin, Zillah is a fire ball. She’s feisty with a thirst for blood – undead, anyway. When she gets her hand on a weapon, she’s even more dangerous than her sisters and Sia combined.

Briar Rose: A nineteen-year old girl. Sees her sister, whom she lost in the chaos of everything, in Vin and treats her as such. Her usual calm and cheery demeanor can change in an instance when Nikki is brought up.

Nikki: A twenty-year old girl. Sweet as sugar to those she knows, but when confronted by a stranger or someone she doesn’t particularly like, she turns a bit hostile. Adores Vin almost as much as Sia and shares her candy with her. Has a competitive rivalry with Briar Rose.

Intro

If you asked me, six years ago, where I would be now, I would have said in college, living in an apartment with a roommate and holding a steady job. And if you asked me five years ago? Dead.

Fourteen, I was happy. Or, as happy as I could be when I was a freshman in high school. I had friends, a boyfriend and my parents were pretty rad. Fifteen, I was young, weak and vulnerable. Separated from the only adult figures I had In my life and surrounded by monsters, I was forced to take shelter and pray that my stomach didn’t eat itself while I waited for some sign that help was coming.

I can’t recall now how long I was there, in the dusty corner of that toy store. I only know that I was on the brink when she found me. Sia. She was like a beacon of light in that dark building, shotgun perched readily on her shoulder and body covered in bloody bandages. She was the coolest person I had ever seen and I looked up to her before she even opened her mouth. Like that older sister I always wanted, who beat up the kids I didn’t like and looked out for me when I couldn’t. I didn’t know then, how much I would come to rely on her, and how drastically she would change my life. In the absence of my parents, she came to be my rock in an unsteady world.

The others followed after and they stumbled upon the growing group, one right after the next. It wasn’t long before I found myself in high spirits again, surrounded by perhaps the greatest people I have and will ever meet. Each one was so radically different with their own likes, and dislikes, and even how they handled the undead. There were hard times, of course, but we were always so close, even as we grew larger as a group.

This, this is the story of me, Vin, and the survivors.

Chapter One

Breathe in. Breathe out. In. Out. Heart beating fast. Faster. Air. Choking. Need to stop. Can’t. Undead. Blood. Oh, God.

I ignore the words that pound through my head, like my heart in my chest, and I skid to a stop. Air fills my lungs like heaven and I double over, pressing the flats of my palms against my kneecaps. I hazard a glance over my shoulder and let out a shaky breath when I don’t see anything. Good, I must have lost them a while back.

Immediately I straighten up and return my attention ahead of me. I didn’t know where I was. All recognizable landmarks were ruined in the wake of the apocalypse – or, that’s what I, we, assumed it was. I start my pace again, slow and quiet, in case any of the buggers are limping around, and I go over the past hour in my head.

“Vin,” Sia grumbles at me from her nest made of beanie bag chairs. I still find it a hilarious sight, Miss Sour, cradled in a pile of brightly colored cloth bags with a backdrop of sparkle-covered dolls. I perked up at the sound of my name and stopped fiddling with a teddy bear I had found in one of the aisles. It wasn’t often Sia started a conversation, unless I was needed for something, and that in and of itself was rare. You see, I wasn’t good for much, other than being a look out. My aim was horrendous and I was rather incompetent when it came to physical labor. My best skill was my ability to find things, even when they didn’t want to be found.

“Yeah?” I questioned from my spot on the floor, rolling onto my stomach and propping my head up on my hands. From where I lay, Sia looked almost like a queen upon her throne. Gosh, she was so awesome.

As if sensing the mental praise I was giving her, the corners of her lips twitched into the smallest of smiles. It disappeared just as quickly and she shifted in the lime seat uncomfortably. “As safe as this place is, we shouldn’t be staying here. There’s no food and it would be too risky to scavenge for more every few weeks.” I agreed. “I know you can find us a new place to set up camp and get back here before nightfall.”

The trust Sia was putting in me was enough to make my heart skip a beat. There was no way I was going to let her down. After arming myself with her shotgun and a walkie talkie, I left the safety of the building and set off on my journey to find a new home for us.

And then I was jumped by some zombies.

Running the pad of my thumb along my brow, I stuck close to the brick wall of what appeared to be a pet store, once upon a time. I had lost my sense of direction somewhere in my escape and landed myself in the middle of some unknown street. But that was okay. I could find my way back, just like I could anything else.

That was exactly what I planned to do, before I heard the gunshot that echoed throughout the streets. Instinctively, my hands flew to my head and I clasped them tightly over my ears in hopes of drowning out any more that may come. So tight were my palms against my ears that I barely heard it.

“Whoa! Sorry about that. Thought you were one of them, the way you were walking. You okay?”

Chapter One, part two

I hadn’t realized how small I had attempted to make myself in response to the bullet that had whizzed past me. I slowly stretched out of the makeshift ball I had made with my body, like a frightened pill bug, and peered out from under my lashes. In front of me stood a girl who looked my age, a smile plastered on her face and a pistol clenched in her fingers. The first thing I noticed about her, aside from the handgun she was sporting, was her hair. It started black, or so I assumed, in the dark streets with only the moon and a few flickering streetlamps as my light. When the locks hit her shoulders, they faded into a lime green. They fell in curls around her face.

“Hey, are you okay? I didn’t mean to startle you. Or…or did I hurt you?” She questioned, her face falling into a worried expression. Immediately, I shook my head and offered her a reassuring smile. It seemed to calm her as she let out a relieved sigh. It was short lived.

“Zillah!” My head jerked up at the yell and I looked around nervously. Why were they being so reckless? The undead could hear. “Zillah! Are you okay?” An older woman, probably Sia’s age, was sprinting towards the both of us. Behind her, I could see another figure, but she staid hidden in the other’s shadow.

Zillah shifted nervously. “Shoot.” She glanced over at me and gave a sheepish smile. “My sister, Glissade. She’s a bit of a worry wart.” I nodded. “Yeah, sis. I’m fine. You know I’m trigger happy,” she chuckled, her smile spreading into a toothy grin. Glissade didn’t seem pleased with that response and she puffed out her cheeks in anger, bopping the heel of her palm against her sister’s skull.

“Are you stupid?! You know those things are attracted to noise, Zillah! You can’t just go blasting everything that moves. That was why we had to leave that amazing set up down at the clinic! Because you couldn’t hold your fire! And if you injured this poor girl, she’d be bringing them all to us with her blood.” It wasn’t until she mentioned me that she seemed to really take notice of my presence, and her mother henning ceased.

Glissade was beautiful, even under all of that dirt and blood that caked her face. Her hair was almost the same as Zillah’s, with curls draping over her shoulders and stopping mid-waist, but instead of green, the black of her hair faded into an orange that was just as bright. “What’s your name?” She questioned, eyes narrowing ever so slightly as she studied me. I raised my hands in the universal sign for ‘I’m not a threat’. I hardly looked like one, but Zillah was the same as me and she almost took my ear off, so I supposed that excuse wouldn’t fly.

“I, uh, my name is Vin. I was looking for a new camp for my…my sister, and me. I was surrounded by some of them and I, I can’t shoot too well, so I ran.” Glissade tilted her head in a gesture that told me she was listening and analyzing every syllable I spoke. I stood there, nervous, hoping she would believe me. These sisters seemed dangerous and I didn’t have a single doubt they would off me if they felt like I was even the smallest of threats to them.

Finally, she seemed satisfied that I was safe to be there, and placed her hand on my shoulder blade, urging me forward and closer to the building she had appeared from. “Let’s get you inside. It’s not safe out here, especially with Zillah making her own alarm clock for those vultures.” A nervous giggle was the only sound the younger sister made in response and Glissade rolled her eyes.

As the two bickered, I looked around, taking in every store in hopes of remembering where this place was. My eyes darted to and from each building and as I looked to the hardware store across the street, I noticed it. The same black figure from before.
