Splash: SKYLER I THINK MY PAW IS BLEEDING!

I don't ever start stuff like this, but she really just said that.

Me: Wait... okay. We'll stop at this spot right here.

So... we stopped somewhere at the side and I tried to check Splash's paw in the darkness.

Me: Your paw is definitely bleeding....

Is it infected? Has she stepped on something? Oh yeah, right. I did say we spotted a clue, but I think it was the sharp thing - maybe glass shard - that Splash stepped on. Ouch. I'm not very good at medicine and healing stuff, but at least I knew how to stick a roll of bandages on fur. I searched through my bag and found the bandages the nurse gave me back at school after the battle. I pulled it out and attempted to wrap it around her paw - it was slightly lumpy, but it was pretty okay for a... dog who's never tried first aid before.

We continued walking after that and when I held up my paw to send a small breeze (It was hot in there - yes, I know it's filled with water, but have you ever been in a sewer before?! You know the water is dirty, right? Oh, wait. You're with me... So yeah.) To my surprise, instead to blowing straight onward, suddenly it hit me in the face and I stumbled backwards. I don't think Splash noticed.... but I realized it was a dead end.

Me: Hmm... Looks like it stops here.
Splash: *squints into the darkness* Yeah....

I used the wind to feel around the walls - I didn't want to stab myself on a rat bone or something. I found out there was a ladder to the side and we climbed up it. I nearly slipped and fell on top of Splash, but I managed to steady myself with my wings. One point for feathered wings and zero for Cyber Wings - they're probably not solid or touchable or something, but I don't really know about it.

Splash: Woah...where is this...?
Me: I don't know but I don't like it...

I looked around my surroundings. It didn't look like any part of the town I've been before. It seemed to be an abandoned town in a different world - it was quiet except for our paws crunching against debris. An explosion? It was free ice cream hour and the animals around squashed their homes to get the ice cream? A giant hamster went and squashed everything? It seemed like most of the buildings and homes were in ruins except for a couple, which had lost their coloring and were half crumbled, like a crumble sundae.

I noticed a little piece of paper tucked under a rock. It looked like it was on purpose instead of being blown there... Is I carefully used a small amount of wind to pick it up. Splash probably had the same idea too, due to her injured paw, and used her other paw to send out a jet of water. There was a crackle of thunder as water and air met.

Both of Us: Sorry!

Before we could say anything else, we noticed what the note said. It was in a fancy, ink handwriting, and the paper looked old and yellowed at the edges. It looked like some old guy wrote this and hid it under a rock - but what was written on it caught my eye. And maybe Splash's, too.

I didn't expect to see you get this far. No problem, little stormlings. I'll play with you for a while... and your little girl Shauna isn't going anywhere. She's not dead yet - but she may be if you don't hurry! Come on now, you know it's the only way... Anyways, here's your next clue -

This city is a place of not only destruction, but also of your greatest fears. Face them without falling and you take one step towards saving your precious master.

Me: Mas -
Splash: G - Greatest fears? Do you think he's telling the...

Before she could finish her sentence, a loud rumble cut her off. I think I'll put you away now... because my greatest fear... I... I'll write in you later... S - See you, Hawk...

Dear Hawk,

Anyways, as I was saying… The clue. Which, isn’t actually… very… good. We had to face… our fears. Maybe greatest, maybe not. But it did seem like it…. And it was really weird, because - maybe I’ll… describe this. Yeah, okay. I’ll write it down…

We just stood there, trying to figure out what the note meant when there was a rumbling sound. We looked up from the note, dropping it in the process, and I noticed a gigantic wave of water rushing over the ruins and broken buildings. I kinda forgot the name for it, but it was really tall and… well, I freaked out. Honestly.

Me: SPLASH THERE’S A GIANT WATER WAVE -
Splash: What water wave? *looks around in confusion*

I was already running, spreading my grimy wings and trying to fly. But the sewer slime and water clung on and I couldn’t escape from the horrible wave of water…. And I couldn’t believe Splash couldn’t see it.

Me: YOUR WATER POWER THING -

Before I could finish my sentence (telling her to stop the wave with her powers) she vanished under the giant wave. I couldn’t see her, or pretty much anything really - my eyes were fixed on the wave of water that was rising above my head, and curling towards me, threatening to pull me into its watery embrace. Someone I screamed (Okay, I admit it) and tried running, but it was so much faster than me - and it fell over my head. I was knocked to the ground and swept along - I writhed and turned, trying to get my head out of the water.

I’mgoingtodrownI’mgoingtodrownI’mgoingtodrown It kept on ringing in my head. Just those words. Honest. I couldn’t breathe…. I was about to let it carry me away when I felt a paw on my arm. I blinked, trying to see through the dark water, gasping for air - then I realised I couldn’t see dark water. I saw Splash leaning over me in concern. I realised I just now had been screaming - when there was no water around me, no wave, nothing. Weird.

Anyways, Splash was shaking my arm and yowling with fear, concern.

Splash: SKYLER, NO! WE COULDN’T HAVE GONE THIS FAR!

She shook me harder. I got to my paws - then I realised my fur was soaked. And wings. But anyways, I gently pulled my paw out of her grasp.

Me: I’m fine, Splash! Nothing to worry about!

Splash completely ignored me and continued shaking me.

Splash: I - It was just an accident! I didn’t… I don’t….
Me: I’m fine, Splash. It - It must be…

She just had this wild look in her eyes as she continued shaking me. My arm was kinda starting to get sore. I was about to try shake her to get some sense into her when suddenly someone appeared. Someone I thought… was dead. Or banished. Or something like that.



Me: Sh - Shadowheart! You - You’re supposed to be dead!

I glanced over to Splash. She still was shaking my arm, not noticing Shadowheart at all. I tried to remember something about this, anything - then a memory from the robot battle came to my head. Illusions. So I thought, ‘Could this be an illusion? Could Splash be…’ Shadowheart broke off my thoughts as he wrapped a cold paw around my wrist.

Shadowheart: Illusion? No, dear Skyler, this is very real. Even you believe that I am real! You know that….

I scrambled backwards, pulling Shadowheart’s paw off me. Splash let go of me, spinning around with wide eyes.

Splash: W - What’s wrong? Why are th - there…
Shadowheart: *glances at her* Perhaps… should I rip the life out of her? Then figure out which of your friends to kill next? Hmm… Perhaps….

I tried to think - I tried to remember. Splash didn’t respond to Shadowheart’s threat, so maybe she’s… She can’t hear my… illusions. If they are illusions. And I can’t hear hers…

Me: I - I know you’re dead! Back off, you… useless illusion!
Shadowheart: *laughs* You know I scare you, little girl. You know I am not….

His voice faded away as I closed my eyes tight. I reached out - and I felt Splash’s paw against mine. I opened my eyes again - Shadowheart seemed to have mostly faded, like a ghost, and I couldn't hear him anymore. Splash’s crazy look had gone, and she was staring at me.

Splash: You were… Y -
Me: An illusion ghost thing?
Splash: An illusion g - M - Maybe… But Skyler, my worst fears…
Me: I - My worst fears appeared, too. Or fears…

I flashed a look back at Shadowheart. Fear suddenly shot through my heart and he seemed to become a little more solid. I quickly turned back to Splash.

Splash: Then… How do we….

There was suddenly a familiar ringing sound. I pulled out my IPaw - it hadn’t broken down yet, luckily. There was a SnoutTime from… Shauna? At the exact same time, Splash pulled out her IPaw and accepted the… SnoutTime. I did the same too - there was a slightly glitchy view of Shauna. Her paws were tied behind her back but there was a gag hanging on her neck - she must have got it off. I tried to see where she was but it was too blurry - however, Shauna’s voice was clear.

Shauna: To join together to create a storm… You must join together! Feel each others’ fears - and counter them!

Just at that moment, someone knocked the camera - or IPaw - or whatever it was - to the ground, showing us the dark ground. We could only hear voices, now -

???: You managed to get the gag off, eh? Leave my little playtoys, Shauna. Or perhaps…?

Then the SnoutTime cut off. I looked over to Splash, who seemed to have an idea.

Splash: Join together and face each others’ fears… Skyler, what fear are you facing right now?
Me: I - It’s Shadowheart…
Splash: Shadowheart? I don’t know…

Splash reached out and placed a paw on my shoulder, closing her eyes. When she blinked them open, she gasped. I looked over at Shadowheart - he was solid and menacing again. He grinned at both of us - it seemed like Splash could see him too, but… how?

Me: S - Splash…
Splash: *turns to Shadowheart* You’re not going to haunt my friends anymore, you creature!

Splash’s eyes glowed blue - a suddenly, there was a… water bubble around us. I could feel fear shoot through me - I was suddenly afraid of the water bubble collapsing around us. However, Splash’s… glowing blue eyes touched my heart and suddenly courage rushed through me.

Me: SPLASH IS RIGHT! YOU’RE A HORRIBLE CREATURE AND YOU WILL NOT HAUNT ME ANYMORE! YOU’RE… DEAD!

Shadowheart’s illusion glowed brighter, then started to fade. When he was finally gone, the bubble popped and we landed on the ground. Splash closed her eyes.

Splash: It’s… my turn. I… Animals… hurt.

She didn’t seem to want to say much, but I suddenly understood what to do. I closed my eyes, imagining the scene - and it appeared. My eyes glowed - white/grey kind of color - and suddenly I felt so much braver. I turned to Splash, who was trembling as she stared at the poor, hopeless animals. I gently placed a paw on her shoulder - wind picked us off the ground. It was like an invisible barrier - wind rushed around us, protecting us. I could hear Splash sigh - and I concentrated on trying to pass my renewed bravery to her. She closed her eyes, now not shaking anymore - and opened her eyes. She suddenly gasped.

Splash: They’re gone! We’ve…

Before she could finish her sentence (Nobody wants us to finish sentences now) there was the sound of thunder. We dropped to the ground - the sky was dark with clouds and it was faintly drizzling. A gentle breeze whipped around us - this was merely the natural kind of storm, not my fears. We shared a look and smiled - then we noticed the note we had found before our fear illusion thing started. (Don’t know what to call it…)

However, this time, the words have changed… Wait… I’ll write in you later, after checking this note out. See you, Hawk.

Hi guys... Sorry to say, but the collab with the Pet is.... on hold. I won't be posting any more entries until Splashtail is less busy. But you can check out my other diary, the Rawst Berry, and sometimes I'll post entries in Secrets Revealed! But the real big announcement is -

Remember the poll before? About 'Adventure' and 'Romance' and all of those stuff? Romance was mainly about the top... so I'm offering you guys a chance at giving your characters a crush! Post your character's name and the name of the other character you want to crush on... If the other person replies, they'll become a proper couple! (Might take a while, though.)

I know that some of you don't bookmark fanclubs, so here's the announcement! If the other person doesn't reply, however, their character won't crush back... but if their character crushes on someone else... Love triangle, of course!
