Level 11 prompt // Before the decision

Postby Chimericect » Wed Aug 01, 2018 9:58 am

"Are you two ready to leave?" Adderbite's gruff voice sounded from behind the brambles, making the two young she cats stifle a scream. They hadn't expected the giant brute to be so adept at stealth, but here he was, previously undetected.

"How are you quiet?" Cove asked, narrowing her eyes suspiciously. "I don't trust you." She whispered to him, a long frown making up her face. Panther stepped in front of her, respectfully bowing her head. "Yes, sir! We are both ready to go." She murmured, somewhat quietly. Her confidence had not yet been brought to where it should, however with time it would only grow. She gave Cove a small nudge in an attempt to get her to stop staring at the scar faced tom, whom Panther was already intimidated by. She didn't understand how Cove wasn't, but the large male didn't seem to care much for Coves glares. Something told him he would have to get used to that at some point. Something told cove that he was already used to it, given the sheer amount pf apprentices in the clan.

"Excellent, follow me then you two. It'll just be us three, if you don't mind that. The typical size of a patrol is three or four hunters, however I am here to assess your skill and see how much work you two will need. I will also view how well you two will be able to work with one another, seeing as you two are close it shouldn't be too hard, but at it's core the most important thing of a tribe is working together as a team. Otherwise nothing would ever get done."

The two apprentices nodded in understanding. Panther had the look of determination sparkling in her eye, she was ready to show him her skills. Cove, however, still liked displeased with the situation, and still preferred the lifestyle of a wanderer.

As they trotted through the wooded area, Panther took note of the almond brown trees that seemed to touch the sky. The wind howled through the trees, making them sway back and forth, creating a rhythmic lullaby that gave Panther some comfort. She could only hear the scurrying squirrels that resided in the branches above her, a little too out of reach for her, for now at least. She didn't want to lose the other two, either. It only took moments for her to catch the scent of something familiar to her: a mouse. She would spend hours challenging cove to a contest back when they resided in the ship. Cove gave her a glace that indicated that she, too, caught the scent.

Adderbite noticed the two, knowing the same competitive gaze from Brokenpaw and Crowpaw. "Well, what are you waiting for?" Adderbite asked. Without hesitation, Panther took off, leaving a shocked Cove in the dust. "Well that's uncharacteristic," Cove joked, looking to Adderbite. "Usually I'm the one eating dust."

    ---

Hours passed, the two successfully amassing their own small hoards of prey. "Was this it? Because we could do this at the docks." Cove murmured, flicking her tail at Panther. "You're just mad because I won." Panther purred.

"You two would make excellent warriors," Adderbite complimented, a low purr rumbling from deep within him. "I'm sure that, if you chose, you both would be welcomed into the clan. You have some time, still, before your decision must be made, although I hope to see you in the training hollow with one of my warriors. Well done." [ 583 words ]

Level 11 prompt // A ceremony for two

Postby Chimericect » Wed Aug 01, 2018 9:58 am

Panther stared at a very unhappy Cove, a wide grin spreading across Panthers face. She was clearly pleased with herself. Whatever keeps her happy, I guess. Cove thought bitterly, trotting behind the so called "chief" of the tribe they were about to join.

"Stay here," Thunderstar instructed, watching both carefully. The leader climbed on top of a large, breaking boulder that stood in the middle of their camp. Before long, cats already gathered underneath, knowing what to expect. Adderbite sat beside the two new recruits, Panther slinking away slightly. Cove only glared at him with indifference. Adderbite either didn't seem to notice, or didn't seem to care, but either way he didn't appear to be bothered by Coves very intimidating stares. "What is about to happen may confuse you," the oversized brute began, his single eye focusing on Panther more often than Cove. perhaps he can tell I could care less about this, Covepaw thought, a smug smile barely being hidden on her face. Smart cat.

"You two are young, and clearly come from the twoleg village or somewhere near it. This may be intimidating to you, bu-" Adderbite was cut off by Thunderstar gazing down at him, taking it as a sign that he needed to hurry his pep talk. As he continued, she called the cats officially to meet at what Cove learned was called high rock, or the meeting stone. "Heh, as I was saying," Adderbite continued, shifting his gaze back to the two. "You will be given a mentor, and this mentor will teach you everything you need to know about being a warrior. You will be watched, and when you are done with training you will be put into a group that suits you. There are fish catchers, land hunters, fighters, gatherers, messengers, storytellers, scourer, or a tracker. If you have questions, feel free to ask me after the ceremony." He finished. The large tom then glanced back up, giving a small nod to the tiny leader. With a happy nod and wide grin, the leader enthusiastically shot her gaze up, holding her head high and mighty.

"All cats able to join us under the high rock join us for an important ceremony!" Thunderstar paused, giving time for the rest of the cats to stalk out and with the rest of them. "We have been joined by two new souls today wishing to partake in our lifestyle! We will allow them to join us, per their request. They have joined Adderbite on hunting sessions, and have experienced only a small bit of clan life. It is today that they wish to join us as full members of the clan, but before that, they must first be mentored. Panther, please step forward!"

Without hesitation, the small black furred cat proudly hopped up onto the rock and stood next to Thunderstar. I've never seen her look so confident. Maybe this is what she needed. Maybe this is good for her. Cove thought. She didn't like to think that her friend might be happier here without her, the thought hurt Cove a little bit. She was ripped from her thoughts as Thunderstar continued. "From this day forth, you will be known as pantherpaw until you have completed your training and have earned your tribe name. Spiderweb, please step forward." Thunderstar called. Pantherpaw watched as a large black cat stepped forward, a small glint of excitement in his eye. "You will be trusted to train Pantherpaw. You are new, but you know the clan well. You know what is expected of you, and I know you will make a good mentor. Now, Cove, please step forward."

Cove gulped, her heart beginning to pound in her chest. Come on, now. You're not supposed to be the nervous one here. That's panther...paw's job. She thought, giving a fake smile to show false pride in where she was. Pantherpaw would know it's fake, and she did, but the clan? They new nothing. "You have also come to us, and despite your worries you chose to stay with us as well. I know you will be a valuable asset to our clan. From this day forth, you will be known as Covepaw. As I said with Pantherpaw, you will train until the day comes where you can earn your tribal name." Thunderstar shifted her gaze to the crowd. "Hawkhunt, please step over here."

Cove watched as a handsome tom trotted forward, his chest puffed out with pride. He looked excited, as if he had been looking forward to this for eons. "Hawkhunt, you have shown great progress since you have come, you know the code inside and out and you are a very skilled fighter. I trust you to teach Covepaw everything you can, and make her the warrior we already believe that she can be."

The tribe cheered, or, most of them did. The two new apprentices stood proudly in front of the clan, hoping that their choices will not have costed them their lives.

Level 12 Prompt // Covepaws new 'friend'

Postby Chimericect » Wed Aug 01, 2018 10:50 am

Pantherpaw and Covepaw, the newest addition to the tribe, trotted proudly to the den that they would sleep. "We have to make ourselves a nest, or something, out of moss." Pantherpaw purred. Cove followed a fox-length behind, lazily making her way next to her friend.

"No need to do that!" A voice called out from the inside of the den, a head popping out of the darkness. "Softpaw!" The two exclaimed. Even Covepaw couldn't help but smile at the enthusiastic tom. "I'm glad to see you, I mean, we would be seeing you anyway, since we're a part of the tribe now, but still! It's nice to see the cat who had absolutely no problems with introducing himself to two complete strangers!" Pantherpaw mused, rambling as she struggled to find the right words. Socializing wasn't exactly her thing, though she did give effort to it.

Softpaw didn't seem to mind, and just chuckled at the two. "I already had beds set up for you after you guys came, Pebblepaw and Squirrelpaw helped me out too! As usual, the two lovebirds are off doing only the ancients know what, but i'm sure they are both happy to have new arrivals as well. If you need any help, you're free to ask me at any time!" The young apprentice chimed. His tail was held high with confidence, and his gaze made something in the both of them just want to befriend him. Even Covepaws icy, bitter heart melted with the more appropriate introduction to the cat. "Covepaw, are you okay?" Pantherpaw whispered. Covepaw hadn't noticed she had been staring at him, whoops.

"What? No, yeah, I'm fine! It's just so weird, um, that you guys are so nice." She lied, trying to come up with a lie on the spot. "I've only ever heard stories of these savage cats, eating the flesh from other cats who are not a part of them, and wearing the bones of whatever is left over." She whispered, Pantherpaw narrowing her eyes at the blue furred she cat.

"Nope! We just wear feathers," Softpaw purred, proudly sticking out his left hind leg to reveal a feather woven into his fur. "We all have one, if you haven't noticed yet. Sometimes we take them off and leave them in our beds if we know they could be destroyed, but we all have one! You should be taken out soon by Hawkhunt and Spiderweb to get yours, choose the bird wisely!" Softpaw mused. Boneshaker is the only one that has a bone collar, we aren't positive where he got it from, but as the spirit guide we know better than to question him.

"Spirit guide?" Covepaw asked, tilting her head to the side. "I don't know what that is."

"Oh! I'll have to explain everything to you then, won't I" Softpaw chuckled, giving a cheeky grin.

"I should go meet my mentor, get to know him a bit more," Pantherpaw murmured, taking the opportunity to leave Covepaw with Softpaw. "I'll ask him any questions I have, enjoy yourselves!" [ 509 words ]

Level 12 Prompt // Softpaw the teacher part 1

Postby Chimericect » Wed Aug 01, 2018 11:13 am

"So," Covepaw trailed off, glancing at the hard, dirt ground below her. "What are the ranks, exactly? Adderbite said he'd explain them to me, but he's a bit scary. I'm sure he's a real nice guy, but..."

"He's intimidating! I understand one hundred percent! Okay, okay so first we have the kits, which are kits." Softpaw began, deciding that explaining the ranks would be easier from the ground up. "You can't do much as a kit, you only have to play around and relax all day! It's kind of boring though, if you ask me. Most kits are more than excited when it comes time for them to become apprentices. Once you become an apprentice, which is where you are right now, you have to train under a more experienced warrior that is usually specialized in one kind of area. There are a TON of areas, but it helps the camp run smoothly, it's actually a brilliant system."

"So the lowest rank are storytellers, I say they're the lowest because they don't do much other than what the name implies, they tell stories. This is usually reserved for wanderers that can't acclimate to clan life, those who are permanently injured, or those that have a much bigger imagination than the other cats in the tribe. Their job? Keep the kits occupied, and tell us stories too! We don't have one yet, but Adderbite mentioned it before so I obviously had to ask what that was about. Then above that are queens, or those that will have, or have had and are caring for, kits. We only have one right now, her name is Briarleap! She's very sweet, I'll take you to meet her at some point." Softpaw offered. Covepaws face felt a little warmer than usual, and she couldn't seem to get any words out of her mouth. She gave a small, stupid nod before listening to Softpaw continue once again.

"Personally it's a shame I can't be a queen, I love playing with the kits! Maybe birthing them would be awful but I enjoy being around them. ANYWAY! I'm getting off task again, haha sorry about that. Okay, so, after that there aren't really ranks in my head, I think anything after this is pretty cool. So the one that doesn't do fighting is a messenger, a messengers job is to relay messages to and from the surrounding clans!"

"Wait, there are more clans over here?" Covepaw interrupted, her eyes wide with amazement.

"Yeah! Willowclan, which is directly southwest from here, and Cliffclan, who is west from here. We are on good terms with them, Boneshaker is actually friends with Otterstar of Cliffclan! They are our allies, so long as we don't do something to anger one another." Softpaw stated

Covepaw shuddered, she couldn't imagine what would happen if something were to cause a war to break out. What if something happened to the cat that she had called her sister? The thought made her ears press against her head, she didn't want to think about it. Luckily, Softpaw kept talking. "Hey, don't worry, we haven't had an issue yet. I-" Softpaw was cut off by another toms voice calling for him.

"Softpaw, we're going on a hunting patrol, lets go!"

Softpaw shifted his gaze back to Covepaw, who once again felt her face begin to grow warm. "We'll continue this when I get back! There's so much I have to tell you." He mewed, bouncing off towards the other tom to join him on his patrol. [ 588 words ]

Level 13 prompt // Coming to terms with emotions

Postby Chimericect » Wed Aug 01, 2018 11:33 am

Covepaw gave a small sigh as Softpaw dashed away, leaving her alone once again. The lonely feeling apparently didn't last long in a clan, because moments later both Pantherpaw and a fluffy red she cat also popped out from behind the bushes. "You totally have a crush on softpaw!" The red she cat exclaimed. The look of pure joy was on her face. Behind her, Pantherpaw was nodding madly. "It's so obvious! Man, you are super bad at hiding your feelings." The black she cat added.

"I... I do not!" Covepaw hissed, her ears flattening defensively. "I just met him, I can't have some silly crush on a cat. Besides, I don't want to be here anyway." She growled, curling her tail neatly over her paws. She forced her glance away from the two grinning she cats, unsure if it was anger or embarrassment that was burning hard in her heart. They couldn't possibly be right! "Wait, who even are you?" Covepaw hissed, turning to the red one again. Pantherpaw was still in back, a smug look on her face. Great. This was the last thing Covepaw needed: to have something against her to make her stay forever.

"Oh, how rude of me!" The furry red female exclaimed. Her eyes almost matched her pelt perfectly. They glistened with the same determination that Softpaw had in his eyes, was this a clan thing? Covepaw wasn't quite sure, but decided that it wasn't important right now. "The name is Squirrelpaw, it's very nice to meet you! Pantherpaw and I were going to go on a walk but she wanted to watch you instead, so we did! You must have it bad for the cat, too, based on your physical cues." She purred.

"Wait, what cues?" Covepaw asked, her hair beginning to bristle in alarm. Squirrelpaw, however, didn't bother elaborating on it. Whether it was intentional that she ignored it, or she just didn't hear was a mystery to Covepaw. She didn't feel very loud when she spoke, but she decided to go with the former. besides, how would they know how I feel? Pantherpaw has only ever been around me, she's never seen another cat... It's not true! Cove battled within herself, her tail now whipping about in anger.

"Hey, hey, relax! It'll be fine. We're just telling you what we see, that's all! You've always been rather open with your emotions, you know that right? I could always tell when you were angry with me, or when you were sad. I know you Covepaw, and you've never been choked up like this before. It's baffling, really, that you're even trying to hide it! I guess I know you more than you know you if you really, genuinely believe you aren't falling for him."

"I should make a club with you and Brokenpaw in it. I'll call it: Denying my feelings because I can't come to terms with my emotions. The name is a work in progress but seriously what is it with you two? You haven't even been in the clan a day. I like you." Squirrelpaw mused. Covepaw sighed. This was going to be a long lifetime, wasn't it?

"Hey, I wonder where Brokenpaw and Crowpaw are, anyway." [ 539 words ]

Level 13 prompt // A broken attempt

Postby Chimericect » Wed Aug 01, 2018 12:31 pm

"I don't know what your problem is but I'm getting real sick of it." Brokenpaw hissed. She trotted alongside Crowpaw in the woods, the two having snuck out once again. They went out so often on their own that it was no longer a surprise to not know where they were. They would always bring back food, anyway, so nobody seemed to be bothered by it too much. "You act like a jerk to everyone now, and why are you suddenly talking to wolfkit? When did you two become buddy buddy? Last time I checked, Wolfkit never even comes out of the nursery, so I don't get it." She hissed. Her tail swayed back and forth behind her, hitting against the bushes to create small whooshing noises.

"Sounds like someone is jealous." Crowpaw said quietly, a crooked smile creeping up on his face. He wasn't the same Crowpaw that everyone once knew, he had been visited by Starclan cats, taught the ways of a true warrior. What the tribe currently is? Wasn't what was according to the will of starclan. Supposedly, they had been tolerating it for too long, and it was time they passed their knowledge onto the tribe cats. He was supposed to be a savior, one who would save the tribe from warfare, one who would become a guardian of all three clans. He hadn't realized how much of a toll it had taken on him, though, until he began to lash out at the other apprentices. Even so, though, he just sees it as a minor side effect from being in the presence of starclan cats.

"I know what's going on." Brokenpaw finally admitted, her eyes glistening as Crowpaw stopped in his tracks. "I know you've been seeing them. I know that they're lying to you. You really think that these so called starclan cats are here to help you, they lure you in. Mesmerizing, almost putting you in a trance. I know them, they know me too. They don't like me. They-"

"STOP IT! Stop. it. Just don't say another word, I don't know what you're talking about but your nonsense is beginning to get on my nerves and I would appreciate you not accusing me of things you know nothing about." Crowpaw spat, his eyes burning with a rage so strong it didn't seem it would be able to be quelled anytime soon.

"I was a part of them, once." Brokenpaw whispered. "The tribe that you are going to serve. They are dark, malicious. I've seen first hand what they do to warriors, what they've done to kits. You see this?" Brokenpaw asked, weakly sticking out her bad leg. She had a permanent limp, one that Crowpaw noticed when she first came into the clan. "This is what one did to me. My own father. They have no regard for the safety of others, or even those in their own clan. They'll manipulate you, you're playing right into their paws. Wolfkit doesn't know any better, I know she's in on it too. I don't know why, but they've targeted her. Please, you have to listen to me." Brokenpaw cried. Crowpaw didn't even bat an eye.

"You are delusional. Go back to camp. I have no idea what you're talking about. if you need me, I'll be in reality, taking a stroll in the woods. See you later, Brokenpaw." [ 564 words ]

Level 14 prompt// Hawkhunt and Mousepaw // a check up

Postby Chimericect » Thu Sep 27, 2018 1:00 am

Story has to slow down so I'm going to do some normal encounters between cats. I will be rolling for 2 - 3 cats depending for each scene uwu <33
    ---
It had been two moons now since Hawkhunt was rescued from the jaws of death, taken up a new name as Hawkhunt, and lived his life now in debt to those who rescued him. Going on moon 5, the clan appeared to be thriving, and Hawkhunt could not be happier. Of course he loved them, they were his new family. Angels that rescued him when he lost hope. He wanted to be the best warrior he could be, and he was glad that he was able to help out now that he was better. However, one of the medicine cats still seemed to be on his case. He didn’t mind it, he quite enjoyed interacting with Mousepaw, as she was an enjoyable cat to be around. He had promised to visit today, making sure to keep the young she-cat updated with how he was feeling.
“You don’t look like you’ve been starved anymore,” Mousepaw purred as Hawkhunt walked in. “Nor do you look like you’re sick. You’ve come a long way, I’m so happy to see you feeling better!” She purred. “I probably wont have you come in much more,” She admitted.
“It’s not a problem, though!” Hawkhunt stated, swishing his tail across the warm, rocky ground. “Besides, it gives me a reason to be in a den. It’s hot out there today,” He murmured, glancing at the small cracks in the rock that allowed some light to sneak through, pushing it’s way into their sanctuary.
“Yeah,” Mousepaw murmured, sorting out some berries into piles. “Much too hot for me, but I like the heat! It means things are growing.” She purred.
“Yeah, that’s a good point.” Hawkhunt murmured, sitting awkwardly for a few moments before Mousepaw spoke up again.
“I think you’re all good to go, you no longer appear to have anything wrong with you! Come back in a few sunrises just to check in with me, okay?”
    “Alright, sounds good.”
And with that, Hawkhunt trotted out of the den. Although always an awkward encounter, it was never a bad experience. He loved it.

Level 14 prompt // Much needed advice

Postby Chimericect » Thu Sep 27, 2018 1:30 am

Hawkhunt sunned himself on the rocks, feeling the soothing rays soak into his fur and warm his very soul. There was something relaxing about days like these: days where a gentle breeze just barely dances through the leaves, the birds singing in unison. The woods played a song to express the joy they too feel when the sun is awake.
    “Hey, Hawkhunt?”
The voice was low and feminine, laced with insecurity and slight fear. She didn’t seem to be sure, either, about calling his name, which made him ever the more curious to see what she wished. His eyes lazily opened to view a frowning she-cat sitting in front of him. “Oh, Pantherpaw! How are you?” Hawkhunt purred, giving a lazy smile to show he was engaged, even if he was half asleep.
“Um, Good. I, ah, I have a question! To… ask you.” She stammered. The black feline glanced at her paws, which were soon shielded by her tail.
“Oh?” Hawkhunt tilted his head, his eyes not fully open and staring at her intently. “Are you okay?”
“Yeah! Yeah, no, I’m fine, it’s nothing to worry about.” She began, her gaze focusing on anything other than his own. “Don’t worry, I just… I feel like you can answer this better than any of the other clan cats.”
    “Alright, go for it.”
“How did you know that this life was for you? I love it, but I don’t know if I LOVE it, you know? I know Cove…paw… doesn’t like it here, she wants to be off doing her own thing. What if we would be better off leaving, and going off to explore and stuff? What if I don’t belong here?” She sighed. “I’ve been having these doubts for a moon now, I think talking about them would help me get over it. You’re newer here, I think you would be able to give me the best advice. Is that okay?”
Hawkhunt felt a slight sense of pride well up inside of him; she had come for his advice! He wanted to make it perfect, but something told him it would be better to speak from the heart. “It’s definitely okay, if you ever need to talk to me about something, never hesitate to ask. I’ll always be here. That being said, it’s okay to have doubts. I did too. But I think what makes it all worth it are moments like these. Where you can help another clanmate out. We all help one another; we live for each other. I think that you being here in the clan makes it a better place to be, we would all miss you both if either left. I think you know that this is the place for you when you can realize that you’re living as a family. I’ve found that the life of the tribe member chooses you, at least in this case that’s what it feels like.” Hawkhunt murmured.
Pantherpaw looked lost for a moment, but then something clicked. She grinned her eyes immediately brightening and her stance growing more confident. She appeared like an entirely new cat. “Thanks Hawkhunt. I appreciate it.” She murmured, dipping her head in respect before bounding off again to do starclan knows what.
Feeling prideful and like he did something worthwhile, Hawkhunt went back to his nap.

Breeding Prompt || Adderbite + Thunderstar

Postby Chimericect » Mon Nov 05, 2018 2:13 am

”You wanted to talk to me, Adderbite?” Thunderstar purred, her tail swaying back and forth calmly. The two had snuck out of camp momentarily, the moonlight guiding their paws as it illuminated a special path for them. It felt awkward, sneaking out of camp like a pair of apprentices. After all, she was the leader, and he was the deputy. They should feel more mature than this. Thunderstar, however, couldn’t help herself. She felt giddy, she had never been an apprentice, so she used that as an excuse to condone her behavior. After all, not much happens in the night, she could afford one more childish moment, right?

Despite the time that Adderbite knew Thunderstar, he was always taken aback by the bright blue eyes she possessed. He loved them, and he loved her. He knew she felt the same, it was obvious to anyone, including himself. Their relationship had gone so far, and Adderbite felt like now was really the time to make it official. After all, they were already raising kits together, adopting the kits they rescued from the rival clan. Tinykit, Squirrelkit, and hopefully one day they would have their own blood related kits. Was that wrong of him? Was it so wrong to want to put a label on it, to want to start a family to call his own? Would he even make a good father? He couldn’t imagine so, why would he be? After all, look at him. He’s huge, terrifying. He would scare the kits half to death!

“Is everything alright, Adderbite?” Thunderstar asked, breaking him out of his daze. She noticed he was visibly nervous about something, a rare sight for the stoic deputy. She thought it was amusing.

“Oh, yeah... I was just..” The tom hated when he was flustered, especially in front of the silly leader of his. He sighed. This was definitely not going as smoothly as he had originally planned, but of course, why should he expect it to be?

Thunderstar chuckled, trotting a few pawsteps closer until she found herself face to face with the brute. Well, face to chest, as she was much smaller than he was. “Are you sure you’re okay, you silly mousebrained cat?” She asked, sitting down in front of him. She found enjoyment in this, watching him struggle. She was oblivious to most things, but his love was not one of them, and she was pleased about it. It’s a good feeling, the feeling that you are loved. Adored. He made her feel important, he gave her strength when she didn’t think she had any. After all, he helped her to become a true clan cat.

    “Yeah! I’m just... I am... I-“

“Love you.” Thunderstar finished, grinning madly. She awaited his response with confidence, knowing there was no mistake. This was it, probably.

“...Yeah. That.” Adderbite mewed, lowering his head to be on the same level as her own. He could feel blood rush to his face, his ears burning in embarrassment. “Will you-“

“Yes.” Thunderstar exclaimed, pressing her head against his without hesitation. A rush of warmth and wholeness courses through her veins, pure joy was all she could feel. She never thought he would be the kind to want to commit, to be mushy and loving. “Took you long enough.” She teased. “I love you.”

Adderbite grinned, curling his tail around her body, watching her melt into his tattered fur. “You know, the kits are going to be upset when we tell them. After all, they wanted this for so long.”

“We can always redo this in front of them.” Thunderstar laughed, pressing her nose against his. The two cats had been on quite the journey already, but it was now that their journey will truly begin.

Level 15 prompt || Crowpaws darkness

A bright silver moon glimmered in the night sky, illuminating the large clearing below it. Not much could be heard aside from the gentle whistle of the wind that echoed through the trees. Dens surrounded the inside of the camp, creating a safe barrier that none could get through. Towards the back center of the camp lay a large pile of freshly killed prey, half buried in a hole under the summoning boulder as an attempt at protection. The summoning boulder was large and flat, the biggest thing in the entire camp. If you were to enter through the dead log, which is located to the south in the camp, looking to the left would bring you to the warrior den created from the roots of a long dead tree. Many of the cats lay asleep inside, not called to patrol in the night. Directly across from the warrior’s den sits an old fox den, which has been abandoned and created into the den of the apprentices.
In the den, an older apprentice lay awake, glaring at the others around him. Sleep seems to have evaded him this night, and many nights before. The young tom stalked bitterly outside of the den, stretching the second the moonlight hit his fur. “Tomorrow is the big day,” He murmured to himself lazily, turning back to his younger clanmates. How lucky they were to be able to sleep, safe and sound. All of which unaware of the situation that would soon change the way tribe life would be. “Not for long,” He sighed, the knowledge of an impending war weighing on his once pure soul. He glanced around the camp, seeing only sentries stationed among the trees surrounding the camp. They wouldn’t bother with him; they all knew him, of course, as this was some close-knit tribe. He remembered how he used to wish that he would be part of something like this, and how much joy filled his heart when he first met another tribe cat.

That feeling was gone. He glared at the sky that stretched out beyond his view, narrowing his eyes at the star above. “Mistress,” He hissed, now sitting among the rocks that surrounded the camp. No longer in the camp, he no longer felt pressured to keep on a mask. “I hope you realize what is coming; I home you realize that there is no escaping this. Your star-furred phantoms won’t be able to keep you protected. He told me so, I know the truth now.” He murmured, curling among the rocks. He was cold, the air whirling around him, snapping at his fur. He loved it, he felt it suited him now.
