It's background story is...
This creature was one of the few that did not want to escape. He was fully trained at a very young 'age' and was what most would consider a 'good dog'. The creators valued him as one of the best trainers to help with the training of the other dogs, due to his calm and freindly personality. As a very obediant creation they had no reason to treat him in any other way than priase, therefore he never suffered. Ever since his creation he had nothing but good encounters, no problems with humans at all. When the fire broke out he was confused, all of his companions were fleeing, leaving the creators behind to die in the flame that he would later come to find out was instigated by one of his fellow dogs. While he could feel the heat and sense the danger however he felt no pain. Jay was in no danger but the humans around him seemed to be effected by the orange tongues of light roaring around him.
Jay stayed for as long as he could, attempting to help those that were kind to him just like a real good dog would, unfortunately he failed and all of his attemps were thwarted. Many of the humans he tried to help seemed afraid of him, he god no smiles or pats, only wide eyes and screams or gasps of terror.
Eventually he fled from the crumbling building and followed the trail of the others, but due to his tardiness to escape their trail was cold and hard to follow.
After a week or so of searching he stumbled upon a small civilization near where the scientists had been working. The town was small and primitive, unsure of the new seemingly real animal they could sense their was something off about the creature.
At one point they tried to chase him off by pelting him with sticks and small rocks but due to his robotic figure the objects had no effect and Jay was confused. 'Why were these people hurting him? He had done nothing to them.'
From that point on he hung in the shadows around the town, refusing to leave to quaint town. He stuck around due to the training embedded into his man made body and programing, this told him to help and serve the humans, as masters.
Roughly a month of lurking went by and nothing happend, the people of the town grew to ignore this creature, he posed no threat and never seemed to steal food or water so he was no bother. However one day a young girl of five or six wandered away from her father who was in the town center, trying to scrounge up money for him and his daughter. The girl ran after imaginary friends that told her the green grass and tall trees outside of the village were much more entertaining than the drab sidewalk and cobblestone of the market place.
So off she ran, skipping and singing without a worry. Soon she made it to the edge of the trees and trotted in, immidiately finding leaves and shadows to chase around in the darkening light of dusk. As she dissapeared into the foilage her father was finishing up his haggling, barely getting a week olf loaf of bread and some cheese, he searched for his daughter, thinking she had not gone far. However as the light faded his worry grew, the forest was dangerous at night, snakes, spiders, and even possibly a big cat hunted those trees at night and a six year old girl was no match for any of them. The father scouered the edge of the trees, hoping to find a sign of his daughter somewhere, but she left nothing. Little did he know, a certian robotic dog was watching his antics and the soft blue glow of his eyes diverted from the terrified father to the distant screams that rang above the trees. Both Jay and the father's heads snapped up and at the same time they bolted into the cover of the trees.
However due to his robotic legs and muscle work, Jay easily out ran and out manuvered the young dad and he found the girl first.
Huddled at the base of a tree it seemed as though she had only just realized how far she had actually wandered. Jay approached cautiously, not wanting to frighten the girl even more, but much to his suprise the girl leapt at him and wrapped her tiny arms around his metal neck. Jay took a step back in suprise but even then the girl didn't let go, and her tears soon stained his synthetic skin and fur. He could feel her small body quivering although it subsided quickly as she clutched the back of his neck, "Good doggy.." She repeated quietly between sobs.
Soon, the robotic dog sat down and let the girl snuggle up to his broad chest. Just as her crying turned to a slow rythmic breathing of sleep her father broke through the tree wall, panting heavily and looking totaly broken and exhausted. Jay watched as the man tried to catch his breath, soon he looked up and noticed his little daughter sleeping at the paws of the strange dog that stallked his village. The man froze in absoloute terror; a chill down his spine froze him in place, he couldn't move.
Realizing the fear in the man, Jay slowly stood and attempted to back away from the little girl but the child held fast to his right foreleg, muttering something that sounded like, "Good dog Jay..."
At this point the man's expression changed from one of absoloute fear to slight suprise and curiosity. However this moment was short lived because the previous screams of the child had been heard by more than just that of Jay and the man.
A sleek shadow slid down from behind Jay and onto the ground, silent as the night sky but visible to the man in front of the robot dog. "Lily.. Lilly! Come here, quickly!" The man grew frantic as he crouched and yelled for his daughter.
The girl apparently called Lily startled awake, "Daddy? Daddy! Jay!" The girl had no idea of the immediate danger behind them, but Jay heard as soon as the creature moved a paw. With scarily accurate precision, Jay bent low and picked up the girl by the hem of her sun dress and bolted to her father dropping her in his waiting arms, then spinning around to face the danger behind them.
A growl of anger was spit from the creatures mouth, her easy meal wasn't so easy any more as now she would have to fight for it. With a roar of rage the leopardess leapt forward towards the girl and her father; but Jay was way too fast and with a single leap he rammed into the animal that was probably twice his size and sent her muscular body crashing into a nearby tree trunk. The man's eyes widened as the strange creature flung the big cat to the side like a doll, even the leopardess herself seemed shocked as she struggled to her feet, wincing in pain.
Her yellow eyes narrowed in pure rage as she crouched to strike again, this time going straight for the kill. Jay was ready and with practiced eases he sidestepped the charge. The leopard skidded to a halt less than a foot away from her missed target, but Jay didn't even give the cat enough time to turn around and try again. In a split second the robotic dog was on her, jaws clamped, shoulder blades crushed by his steel jaws.
The cat couldn't even scream.
Jay dropped the decesed animal and stepped back towards the pair whos lives he had just saved, but the father was not having it and he moved to leave. Lily squirmed out of his arms however and ran back over the the creature, once again hugging him. "Daddy! Jay came back!" A huge smile lit her face in the darkness of night, the man studied his daughter then the creature that had just saved them from certian death.
The robotic dog's body structure looked similar to that of a doberman pinscher, the dog that had once been their family dog. The man hadn't always been alone, he had a wife, however one day his wife and their grey doberman went on a walk and didn't come back. Not until three days later did they find his wifes mangled body being gaurded by a half dead Jay. As soon as the man approached his wife and dog. the animal let out a sigh or relief and rested his bloody head in the lap of his master and best friend for the last time.
As the man studied the dog before him all he could think about were the dulling eyes of his dieing dog, and the dull blue eyes of the similar creature before him. Without thinking the man held out his hand,
"C'mere boy, c'mere Jay."
