Show Name: NSS's First Winter
Barn Name: Snowflake
Prompt: Surprisingly, a yearling, as I would more want to train it myself and get it worked in, as it's a much younger age and I could bond with it at a younger age, while if it was an older horse it would be much harder to bond with and break in.

Prompt: I'm pretty inexperienced, so I would buy an older horse to start. I wouldn't have the confidence or knowledge to train a young horse, but I'd want to find a mentor to teach me while I gained more experience with my older horse.
Very tentative return to CS? Not on Discord anymore, so please PM here to contact me.

Prompt: It actually depends on what I'm buying for, to be honest. If I'm looking for a new competitor or a workhorse, I'd be more apt to look at yearlings and horses less than 4 years old. For companionship, or just about anything else, I'd be more apt to look at older horses. These guidelines are not exclusive, though; health and the ability to do what I need plays a big role, but I'll look at any horse that's right for the job, regardless of age.

Prompt: Depending on what the horse would be needed for, I would say yes. If I'm buying for someone else (I actually do a lot of prospecting horses for others) I usually go for something a bit older unless I absolutely know their riding level. I know older horses can still be rude but it's usually a safer route when you've got peoples lives on the line. If I am looking for a project, I would prefer something younger, maybe even a young untouched mare or one from the tip program at blm. I've worked with blm before and it's very exhilarating to work with younger wild horses! I definitely would do it again.

Prompt: I personally would prefer an older horse. I assist in therapeutic horsemanship lessons so I would love to have my own horse thatโs older and more reliable for that sort of work. Iโm also taking a break from riding, so even just having an older horse thatโs a pasture pony for companionship would also be a great addition.

Prompt: Much older horse. I find them easier to work with and overall very easy to connect to. I like to bond with my horses
and I feel it is much harder for me to do so with an energetic yearling. Sure, they're fun, but I also consider myself an old soul, so I can relate to all the oldies. I have a much better relationship with the older fellas. c:

Show Name: Roux's Winter Elegance
Barn Name: Roux
Prompt: Older Horse
I would buy an older horse because I personally love having the happy old fellas who love to go out for slow trail rides and swim in the river. Having an experienced horse allows me to feel much safer and there is less chance (depending on the discipline) that anything could scare them. Bomb-proof horses are wonderful for relaxing with, and I have also found I enjoy handling the older ones since they have a more mellow personality and tend to be much more understanding for vet work and handling. The mellow personality makes them much easier to hang out with in the field as well, like when I used to sit under an old oak at my place and sketch the landscape, or my horse if she stayed still long enough or fell asleep. I have a little bit of a fantasy of curling up under a tree like that with a horse sleeping laying next to me as I worked, and we all know yearlings have way too much energy or lack of restraint to do that safely or for long.
