Why not a Riddle competition? Find a riddle online, and tweak it a bit so people can't google the answers! Or maybe a little hunt? You leave a clue every few hours, leading to a post you've made before, edited with a codeword either set to tiny font, or transparent and the first person to find it wins them!

Competition Ideas

Free Rice Competition
Design an adopt, and tell people to play free rice with an account.
Free rice is a site where you can answer questions in various categories,
and for each question you get right, you donate 10 grains of rice to
free rice, which can feed someone in need. Whoever has the most
rice at the end of the competition wins.

Dulcet's Companion
The dulcet to be adopted has a companion that they take with them
everywhere. Have people participating tell you about said companion,
and develop the bond between the dulcet and their companion.

Puzzle Ideas
Make a mini-series of adopts where people need to find a cooresponding
puzzle piece in your posts to claim a dulcet. When all of the puzzle
pieces are found, release one final dulcet for everyone to try for.
