MetaCrystals serve two purposes.
The first purpose is to change your Novibat from an adolescent form into an adult form!
That is what this thread is for.
Please note that adolescents cannot breed with adults.
There are many different adult lines and the metamorphosis usually changes them into a lineart that is for a random biome.
However, there are items that will allow you to influence or predict what biome your Novibat will choose.
Starjewel Faceting Kit
This handy kit allows you to craft a StarJewel to your own tastes...
When aging a Novibat, you may use this item to choose a specific set of pre-existing adult lines.
One use only.
Jeweler's Gem Eye Loupe
With this Loupe, you can peer into the facets of your Novibat's StarJewel to determine what biome they will age into. You can then choose one line art type for that biome.

The second purpose is to summon custom Novibats!

The more novibats you attempt to summon or age, the more crystals you will need.
Novibats really, really like these crystals, so it's important to collect a lot of them by playing games in streams or participating in events.
How many do you need to perform either action?
1st attempt: one crystal
2nd attempt: three crystals
3rd attempt: six crystals
4th attempt: 10 crystals
5th attempt: 15 crystals, etc...
