xxxxVierah was nothing special, just a small kitten, born in a large world. She had no special talents, her hunting ability was not extraordinary, nothing about her really made her stand out, and her home life was just as plain. The other siblings all had something different, whether they were adorable, the best story tellers, it didn't matter, they all had something different and amazing about them. While Vierah didn't. She was average, and confused, sure other kittens admired her for her beauty but it never made her feel beautiful, they'd say she was smart, but she'd brush it aside. She wasn't beautiful, she wasn't smart. She was just Vierah. Nothing more but boring, hurt Vierah.
From the moment she could catch the mice that wandered into her home, she'd be up and out, trying to be anything she could, but finding nothing, nothing was different and it hurt her more and more with each day. Everything was always the same. Was she destined to be - just some cat? Was she never going to be special? It wasn't fair.
This troubled her dearly, so much so that she found herself tossing in her asleep, Vierah could not understand why were her siblings were blessed with their own attributes and she was not. Was she not special too? Would she ever be special? Everyone always complains about how being different was bad and awful, but for those cats who aren't special, it's far worse. "I'm always some dumb background character! Why couldn't it be about me for once, about how I stand out. About how I fit in...do I fit in?" Vierah was torn in two ways and as she grew older, she began to rebel against the other cats and her mother, she was so stubborn and frustrated. She'd occasionally escape into the forest or in back allies, hoping that her future would lead her somewhere. And one day, it did. Vierah climbed her way onto the roof of a house one night, her orange eyes glistening to the shimmering moonlight, her pelt caressed with the coolness of the wind, as her ears flicked around, nothing out of the usual, did she hear a sound. It was a mouse and instantly her instincts kicked in. Vierah hadn't been eating in the house anymore and barely visited her family, only for the shelter and warmth, which her mother usually scorned her for but she'd ignore it anyways. "It's not your life." She'd reply, flicking her tail as she usually did when she was unsure, a piece of her dying inside.
The cat thought back at this and sighed, narrowing her eyes firmly before hoping down to the floor to stalk after her prey, one paw after another, she kept a low profile and stared deeply at the mouse. It squeaked unknowingly, grooming itself when suddenly - BAM! It jolted out of sight and Vierah lifted her head with a huff, something had scared it away...? "Oh well. I wasn't really wanting mouse anyway..." She told herself, turning to stand face to face with a dark figure, the creature's shadow loomed over her and rumbling sounded in its throat, slobber dribbled down to the floor, Vierah glanced at it before hunching her back with her muzzle wrinkling defensively. "Stay back." The monster did not reply. Then without warning, it lunged and the cat dove under it, her fur brushing up against its underside as it came over her, everything passed by so slowly. Her widened eyes gawked as it went over, then jerked around and cracked its muzzle apart. Seeing the piercing white fangs, Vierah yowled and lurched backwards with her paws ready to attack, but it wouldn't do much. She had been declawed as a kitten and backing up, her rump had touched the side of a towering wall, Vierah's gut sunk in her stomach. She was cornered. "Rats." Hissed the cat, her fur growing further on end as the beast dove again, she struck its muzzle with a screech. Is this how I'm going to go? She asked herself, hitting its face again with her soft paws, this was not going anywhere. It'll tear me apart in seconds. Her ears were pulled back, she desperately pranced about to avoid the attacks, hitting its face, trying to get around the large animal but in vein. She pulled back her cheeks to reveal her fangs as she hissed, when suddenly, an idea struck her, Vierah acted as if she was going to dash under its legs, which made the animal lower its head, then she quickly took action. Bolting up and over its head, along its back, she leaped into the air, nabbing the edge of the wall, and pulled herself up and over. Listening to the maddened sounds of the creature as it flailed around to get her, the cat gave a real smile, one she hadn't done in many moons. No ordinary cat could have thought that quickly and dodged all those attacks, maybe - just maybe, she was more than just some ordinary cat. "Was that me?" Vierah murmured, feeling proud in herself for a first. "I spent my whole life trying to fit in when really, I didn't need to. I am beautiful and smart like the other cats said." Vierah furrowed her eyebrows. "Maybe my siblings are better at some things than me, but there'll always be someone better than everyone in this world. I need to stop putting myself down and start realizing just how great I am, how great everyone is. Because we're all different." She lifted her head. "And I know now where I belong." Vierah thought back to the warm house, her mother scorning her for not eating, her pesky siblings. She missed it. Not knowing just how much she loved that place until she thought back, the cat couldn't help it. Hot tears welled up in her eyes and a longing grew in her heart.
