ABOUT

South Island Fjords is a recently discovered breed of horse. They are a cross of Fjords with Quarter Horses, Paints, and Appaloosas to get the wide range of colors. They have been refined with selective breeding to keep the stocky Fjord build and the unique two toned manes while displaying gorgeous color combinations that the public have come to love. Today they're commonly used as trail horses and parade ponies but can be used for almost any discipline except for jumping and racing. There is a large portion who have been released into the wild on their own private island, so you may have either wild or domestic fjords. [more coming]

HISTORY

BREED INFORMATION

- thick and strong build of a Norwegian Fjord
- stands from 14.3h - 15.3h
- can come in any natural horse color.
- common colors/markings: palomino, bays, cremello, chestnut, liver chestnut, bay, seal bay, palomino, buckskin, any color+dun, grullo, real life Fjord colors, tobiano, sooty, pangare
- uncommon colors/markings: chocolate palomino, cremello, smoky black, sooty buckskin, perlino, champagnes, dunalino, dunskin, sabino, overo, silver, birdcatcher/chubari spots, rabicano
- rare colors/markings: solid black, dominant white, bend or spots, splash, medicine hat, roan
- most rare/markings: pintaloosa/appaloosa patterns, chimeric, brindle, blue taffy, & pearls. These can only be achieved through customs or during holiday events.

ADOPTION

- there is no limit on how many you can own
- you may only win one every 7 days.
- if you wish to adopt please fill out the form correctly on that horses page.

BREEDING

- each Fjord has 6 breeding "slots"
- currently only mares and stallions may breed, but once the population grows stem cell breeding will be introduced.
- two overos may not breed, the foal will be stillborn due to lethal overo.
- brindle has 15% to pass, chimera has 10% to pass, roan has 40%, any appaloosa patterns have 5% chance to pass to offspring.
- artists choose if they offer free breedings or if they charge.
- breeding chimeras:
*chimera only has 10% chance to pass when bred to a non chimera, if breeding two chimeras together you have a 40% chance to produce another chimera*
1st basecoat x 1st basecoat = basecoat
2nd base x 2nd base - other basecoat
so for example,
Bay Black chimera x Palomino Red Dun Chimera = Bay x Palomino=Buckskin and Black x Red Dun= Grullo, so you would get: Buckskin & Grullo Chimera.

CUSTOMS

- customes are currently: closed
- staff get 4 customs a year.
- members of the community get 1 custom per year, on their birthday.
- artists can choose how much they charge to make a custom.
- customs must be approved my me(Skyy) before becoming official.

GIFTING

- currently no gifting yet. Any fjord who is unwanted will be put back up for adoption.

RULES

- keep the signature on the picture.
- do not steal this lineart or any of the designs.
- do not post "good luck" or "congrats" on the adopts pages please.
- respect staff and artists. talking bad about any of them will result in a temporary ban, if it continues it will be a permanent ban.


BANNED

- if you are banned you may keep your fjords, but you may not apply for more and post on any fjord topic.

are you familiar with the Fjord's specific colors? (which are common, uncommon, rare, ect):

duns, grullos and buckskins are the most common, while solid blacks and whites(greys) are the most rare.
- common colors: palomino, bays, cremello, tobiano
- uncommon colors: roans, perlino, sabino, overo
- most rare: Appaloosa patterns, chimeric, brindle & pearls
I'll keep looking so I don't make 100 rare horses x3
are you willing to be a breeding artist as well? (saying no doesn't disqualify you, I just need to make sure I have enough of both regular and breeding artists): I've been in many horse adoptables, I have just forgot the names... but if you look in my gallery i'll think you'll find some, but my best examples where on my old computer for this adoptable that didn't use oeakia :C

note: when i open customs & breedings, you may charge whatever you like. CS pets/items, CS$, DA points, whatever you want as long as it's reasonable priced of course.
