After moving to a new city and starting a farm I noticed one thing missing. A good farm dog. Growing up I had plenty of dogs on my fathers farm. It had to be a special dog just like the horses being raised. But also a dog good with all creatures like the sheep and goslings. It had to e friendly and just the right size and temperament. A dog that could pull it's own weight and be a loving companion. To ride in cars and follow on trails. Something smart and willing to work. I had often wanted to compete in dog shows and own a kennel. Show dogs and show horses went hand in hand. Researching I found the mudi and with luck a kennel close by. I figured I did well with raising all types of horses it was time to try something new, but the bitten line was to find a good dog on the farm not just a pretty dog.
I drove to the kennels to check everything out.
Born of two competive parents, copper was one of nine puppies. Each was given a name in Swahili for a strong characteristic they had. Copper was a strong dog with a lot of fight and loyalty and spirit. He had an even temperament. At 8 weeks old he was put up for adoption. I walked along the kennels and saw his markings and his beautiful eyes. He jumped and aged with his siblings full of pure energy. He stood out to me as the perfect little pup. I filled out the registration papers and paid the fee. He was to be the start of my kennel and show dogs. We first went to the vet. He didn't enjoy that but he was fully vetted. Next we went to the pet store so I could buy him a collar and tags. I already had a crate and supplies. After selecting a blue color with gold claps and tags we went home. He sniffed every corner and got I to everything he could. He grew and very fast at that. He loved to go on walks and chew toys and was a very social dog. He would greet me when I came home and would bark at anything passing the house. He loved to visit the animals on the ranch and herd the sheep and geese. He was a strong boy but was gentle. He loved to work on agility courses and trails. There was nothing he couldn't do if he set his mind to it. If everything worked out I planned to aquire more dogs because he made me fall in love with the breed. He was a very good dog and like every dog had his days of trouble. He grew up handsome with a wonderful coat and build. Finally his time to start competing was near. We both were excited and I was ready to try my hand at something new.
He already like agility courses and jumping. When te horses were jumping and someone didn't have him in the house he would often jump the rails himself. He was never taught it he just pick it up. Seeing this and knowing he could be evented in agility I began working on him with that. His stamina built from accompanying on trail rides proved helpful. We mainted his coat and nails. Making sure he looked great and followed breed standards. We then took him to a judge to have him judged as a trial. Te only fault he carried was a slightly jaggad mouth line. Some accepted that others did not. It was just a hereditary trait passed from one of his grandparents the trainer informed. Copper was loved as a pet and prized for all he was. A competition dog in both conformation and coat as well as a agility dog. Next we picked out his rose all mudis had. A nice dark blue to make his coat really pop. The final process was to register him. Everything went smoothly.
