Origins:
Subwoofers were created in a top secret lab for military purposes. They were made to detect radio signals that technology couldn't do at the time. Some kind of crazy science stuff and yeah, then poof. They were first found by the public two years ago, near an abandoned research lab. They were nicknamed Subwoofers as a joke. The name stuck, and now, they make perfect family pets!

Short story on how he got his lightning:
Striker's previous owner was a meteorologist, and when they were experimenting on how Hurricane Katrina started, it went wrong, and now he has strange lightning strikes over his body. But lets just keep it simple: The name came first.

Short story on how (s)he got the lightning:
A science experiment, how else? While testing the energy carrying properties of electrons, an actual lighting bolt hit BJ's lab. The electricity ran thorough the equipment and collected inside the Subwoofer, his stereo parts capturing it and amplifying it. They say curiosity kills the cat but it gave BJ lighting blood
