CPO: Oboe

Postby ImmyWimmy1 » Thu Oct 09, 2014 4:20 am

This rather unusual chap represents the oboe, the king of the woodwinds (though not my favourite! :P )

To take this guy home, you must guess which breed his dam was (HINT: the country of her origin is one of the countries where the oboe was played in the 17th century under a different name).

Show Name: The King's Music
Barn Name: King
Age: 5 years
Gender: Stallion
Breed: Corsican Horse (50%) x ? (50%) (Guess below)
Height: 14.3hh
Colour: Black
Markings: Star, sock and Chubari spots
Genetics: E/e.
Personality: King thinks very highly of himself and likes to act like he is king of the paddock. When a new horse arrives, he is first to inspect them and make sure they know how regal he is. When he sees mares he puffs out his chest, arches his neck and prances over. He is the biggest flirt on the farm and actually a hit with many of the mares ;)
History: King was born in France on a fancy farm that bred the highest quality purebreds. King was actually an accidental foal, his mother was supposed to be in foal to a pure bred stallion of her breed. Because of this King was cruelly picked on by the other foals, he was always angry about this. He was just as good as they were! When he was taken out to go with the other yearlings, King's life was absolute misery. His mother, the only horse to ever be kind to him was no longer with him, his only company was the snotty purebred yearlings. King would probably have been sent of to some horrible home if not for a huge mistake. A wealthy person ordered one of the purebred Corsican colts to be shipped to his farm. Unfortunately the main stable hand was sick and one of the new hands had to get the colt. They were not paying attention and had thought the owner said, "The one with the white" when she actually said "The one without white". So the stable hand grabbed the spotted colt and lead him up to the waiting trailer. King was on the rode for a couple days and then taken to a plane. He was given some calming injection and then loaded on the plane. The ride was scary and weird, especially since King felt so woozy. Once they landed he was taken of to the farm, the second he stepped out the man let out a cry of anger. "This is NO purebred! Look at him!" he shouted. The man called and said they had to take him back, the people at the farm said they didn't want the mutt anyway and to just send him off, they would send in the proper colt. King was taken to the auction were the owner of Night Thorn Ranch instantly saw the regal colts potential and bought him for only $700. He has been at Night Thorn Ranch ever since.

What breed do you think the dam was?: Mérens horse?

Guess: Pottok?

New Guess: Thoroughbred? (The only breed I could find that had any info about having chubari spots)

Show Name: A Kingly Note
Barn Name: Oboe
Age: 8 years
Gender: Stallion
Breed: Corsican Horse (50%) x ? (50%) (Guess below)
Height: 14.3hh
Colour: Black
Markings: Star, sock and Chubari spots
Genetics: E/e.
Personality: Oboe is the loud mouthed horse at the barn. He's very demanding and wants everything done his way and done when he wants it to be done. He's very self-absorbed and rather worry about himself than worry about other horses. He rather stay away and focus just on his rider only. He though can be a softy and will take up for his rider or his close friends. He might be very demanding but on the inside this boy just wants to be accepted.
History:
November 8th at 9:58pm, loud mouthed, A Kingly Note, was born to sire, King of All, and dam, A Musical Note, on a farm in Southern France to an old man who owned the ranch. He at the time was flourishing in life and with his ranch doing successful business he had enough money to hire the best trainers around to train young Oboe once he was old enough. At the time the young stallion turned three, the old man had ended up bankrupt for many reasons. He ended up having to sell his prize to a stable in the United States. Oboe was shipped away and given to a young horse owner at the time. Oboe was retrained for the next year and flourished under his new owner's hands. The young woman did her best for the loud animal, taking great care of him, making him look like a champion. Though things got rough when Oboe turned five. He was put in an auction as his previous owner wrecked her car on the highway and wasn't healthy enough to take care of him anymore. Oboe was sold to his last home to a father and two children who needed a horse to help on his farm. Oboe was taken to his new home and settled in rather quickly, soon enough he was plowing fields and herding cattle for his new owners. In return for his hard work his owner's daughter and son took Oboe out into shows to bring back that spark of enjoyment in his life. Once more he is a champion for his riders.
