Many hundreds of years after the events of Wind Waker...

A shipwreck was discovered off the coast of an island, and the remains of a red sailboat was found amongst the wreckage.
The boat was very small, hardly large enough for one person, and it was obvious that it was very old, with most of the wood rotted away.
However, it was obviously also once a very majestic and beautiful little sailboat. While it was too damaged to be saved, the sailor who found
the debris was able to break off the elaborate lion's head carving and take it home with him. He crafted the lion's head into a mask.
It proudly was hung from the wall in his home for many years after.

While the fate of the sailor is unknown, the mask has recently been seen being worn by a Mask Merit.
