That's a great saying a friend of mine told me once when I was having a bad day! I'm sure you've heard of it! I'm not sure who first said it, but they sure were smart! Except, I think lemons by themselves are pretty good. I mean, not only are they a really pretty color, but they make you make the funniest faces! Teehee~

I've got lots of friends, since I'm such a social butterfly, but there aren't very many friends of mine who have ever seen me really down. I'm really good at smiling when I don't feel like it, you see. I love hearing my friends laugh, so I never want to see them sad! And they're all so nice that I just know if they saw me down they'd get upset too! But anyways! I have one friend who has seen me really down before. It wasn't intentional. She sneaked up on me when I was crying! Some mean ol boys were picking on me for being so pink! They were saying that it was so unnatural and annoying. And it really got me down!

Well, Ophelia was the one who found me after I ran away from those boys. I didn't hear her coming, because my crying had gotten so loud. She came right on over, crouched next to me, and grabbed my hand. She opened up my clentched up palm and put a bright yellow lemon in it. I have to say, I did stop crying. I mean, honestly, such a strange thing to give to someone who's crying! After I saw what she'd given me, I looked right up at her with my puffy red eyes and asked her, "A lemon?"

"Yup!" she giggled and gave me a big ol smile. The kind of smile that's usually really infectious, except when you're feeling really down. I was still looking at her like she was crazy, so she sighed and decided to explain!

Then she took the lemon out of my hand, used her nails to cut it in half, and handed half of it back to me. I still didn't under stand what she was getting at, so I kept on looking at her like she was crazy. She realised that I still didn't get it, and giggled again. As she giggled she brought the lemon up to her mouth, and bit into it. And when the lemon juice got into her mouth, she made the funniest face I've ever seen! Haha! Just remembering makes me laugh!

Her nose started running, and her face got this really pinched up look to it! Her eyebrows pulled together, and she pulled the lemon away really quickly. As soon as she had though, we both started giggling like we'd never giggled before! She told me to do the same with my half of the lemon, so I did! And I made the same face that she had! It was so strange! It was the most sour thing I'd ever tasted in my life! But I had stopped crying! Something so sour made me laugh so hard, and forget all about my sadness!

After our giggling fit was over, Ophelia put a paw on my head and gave me a really warm smile and said to me,

That day, with the help of a very good friend and my favorite fruit, I discovered that anything bad can be turned into something good! All you have to do is look hard enough! You might just find something in the bad that will make it amazing!

Name: Sarah
Story: one day I was riding my horse through the woods when I saw the most beautiful hazelnut squirrel I have ever seen in my life! I got off my horse to go look at the squirrel closer. When I got down closer to it, it put its head under my hands as if to say," pet me! pet me!" I pet it for a few minutes before I got up. When I got back on my horse it stated making this weird sound while trying to jump up on the horse with me. I laughed and picked it up. I put it in front of me so it could hold on and if it fell, I would know. I told my horse to go real slow back to the stables so the hazel would be safe. "i think I will name you Sarah" I told it. She looked up at me and nodded, as if she understood me. When we got back to my house I went to get some strawberries. When I took them out of the refrigerator, Sarah started jumping up and down, running around the kitchen, and just spazzing out! I put the strawberries on the counter and bent down to see what was wrong. She made the same weird noise she made when she wanted to get on the horse. She was jumping up and down under the place where I put the strawberries. "do you want one?" I asked. She jump around even more when i said that, so I got the strawberries down and gave her one. She shoved the whole thing in her mouth, then spit out the leaves. I put the strawberry container on the ground in front of her and she just started gobbling up all of the strawberries. I took them away from her after she had about 7. "ok, thats enough. you are going to get sick." She started getting all crazy again and started to run around the room. "don't worry sarah! you can have more when I pick more from the strawberry field." She stopped spazzing out and sat down. I picked her up and sat down on the couch. "I am so glad i found you." I told her.

isn't it just the most perfect name?
It means "sunset" in Italian, but I like to be called "Tammi" for short.

well, it went a little something like this. . .

every morning i wake up, the instant I step outside the squirrels in
my yard scatter, chittering and hissing at me for disturbing their face-stuffing time. This
time, one squirrel stayed. But it was obvious to see why. This squirrel, why, she was pink!
A tiny bandanna wrapped neatly around her neck and a belt strapped around her tail, and her
eyes! They were blue! The deepest, most sweet blue that you can imagine, like the color
that little children think is the color of water. She didn't run from me, so I slowly walked
towards her, expecting this marvel to run away as fast as she could. This one seemed young,
younger than the others. But that didn't matter. When I was a foot away, I sat down. The
squirrel waited for me to stop moving before she got to her feet and walked towards me.
She sat down by my knee and pawed at it with tiny hands. Feet. Whatever.

Then, I remembered the cashews in their baggie in my pocket. I pulled out the bag, opened
it with expert hands, and pulled out a cashew, laying it in the palm of my hand and holding
out for her. She took it cautiously, but not quickly. Holding it akwardly, the squirrel looked
up at me as I popped one into my mouth. I absoloutly adore cashews.
"What?" I said. "They're not poisoned. See?" I rolled another one into my mouth.
The squirrel stuck out her tounge and licked the cashew before stuffing it in her mouth and
churring happily. I passed her another cashew and she ate it with gusto. This time after she
finished, the squirrel walked around to my back and proceded to climb up my jacket with her
tiny claws. Then she sat on my shoulder. I raised my hand to my shoulder where I knew she
was sitting and put it near her. The squirrel didn't flinch or pull away. So I stroked her fur.
Suprisingly, it was silky, soft and short. Not coarse and stiff, like the other squirrels that I
knew. {Yes, I have petted another, wild, squirrel once before, but that is another story,
though not so different from this one.}

She chuffed gently and I handed her another cashew before I stood, slowly and fluidly.
Still, I must've jostled her a bit, because tiny claws skrittered against the skin on my neck,
no where near enough to draw blood, but enough to remind me that she was there and
a little bit uncomfortable. I stopped moving and she made a sound that sounded like the word
"Tramonto" or maybe it was "Tamogo" but either way, I liked the way Tramonto sounded better.
"Are you a Tramonto?" I asked, my voice quiet, my heart loud. Tramonto chittered in that way
that squirrels do and nuzzled my neck with her tiny head. I laughed and pulled her down, though
"pull" is too crude of a word. . . more like I helped her down. I continued on my way to the
stables in back, where my horse waited for me, impatient.

Tramonto, who was sitting in my cupped hands, looked up at him before taking a flying
leap and landing on his withers.

As we went on our ride, we all became very close, and could never think of a time before
us
