Equidius Form

Equidius Name: Lumina (meaning 'light' in Romanian.)
Age: Ten Years
Gender: Mare
Size: Twelve Hands
Position in herd: Defender
Personality: Lumina is a wild, untamable spirit, passionate and kind, though she is notorious for a temper so hot it could burn down the caves she lives in.
She is known for her lack of self-interest. The mare has never really given much thought to how she looked or how much he stallions were attracted to her. She merely lived life to the fullest and showed that no one and nothing could ever change her.
I admire that about Lumina, and I think that other Equidius’ do to.
Lumina has a pure heart and true thoughts, even though it may not always be so obvious. She knows what she is doing, always. Although her intentions may not start out so clear, they bloom into something much brighter than many perceived them to originally be.
Even though Lumina seems so perfectly sweet and loving at times, she can be very difficult to be around at times. She doesn’t give a care what other people want when she is set on something. Which really angers other people around her sometimes.
Also, Lumina has a bad habit of being a bit unfair to people. Like, as in, “I like you better so you get to…” blah, blah, blah. See what I mean, though?
Lumina is level-headed and smart. She often takes forever to think things through and make sure that the decision is correct.
Although the mare is very loving and passionate, she is a bit with-holding. Lonely, even. She gets to remembering everything she’s done wrong and life, and feels like no one is there to catch her and protect her. Lumina feels like it is just her… Only her… This is why she is, also, a bit secretive. She doesn’t let out much naturally, but after experiencing what particularly she experienced, it made it even worse.
Lately, Lumina won’t even divulge what she ate that morning if it could save her life.
But, don’t get me wrong. Lumina is a fantastic, loving, encouraging, sweet, untamable soul that is easy to forgive and live with, but can also be complex and difficult to understand.
Some say it’s just the fact that she’s a mare. Some argue.
Eh, all in a day’s work, right?

Basic History Lumina grew up fairly well-cared for, with a mother so strict it was not even remotely funny and a father, a defender, which was rarely present to bond with his daughter and, ironically, defend her. She never really had a chance to grow close with any other foals, as when they would play in the fields while their mothers chatted, Lumina was forced to stay with her mother and watch from a distance.
While she never got to befriend anyone much, she still grew up friendly and caring. The filly developed a burning, sharp temper that could never be dowsed except by her father, who loved her so much that it filled in the empty holes left by her mother and much more. But her father was almost never there. So, Lumina almost constantly argued with her mother, questioning her rules and words, and why she even bothered to have a foal if she would expect it to be born an adult.
Little did the beautiful mare know, this hurt her mother much more than she let on. Every time Lumina made a smart remark, it killed her mother a little bit inside more, over and over. Only when her mother was on death’s door, taken ill, did Lumina learn what she had truly done. That same evening her mother passed on.
That killed Lumina’s temper until merely a spark remained, buried deep inside of the grief that overwhelmed the Equidius for the remainder of her first year of life.
Lumina lost sight of herself after the death. She felt like a monster, like she was a scourge to the herd and to her father, who loved her more than ever and was there for her much more. She barely spoke to anyone, including her father. When Lumina became older and even more stunning, other stallions began to try to court her, much to her father’s hope and delight, for if she found her true love in one of these stallions, perhaps her spirits would be lifted and she would be more like herself before her life took a cruel twist.
There was one stallion that caught her eye, but he soon fell in love with another mare and Lumina was long forgotten. She didn’t hurt very much, though.
Lumina found herself again, though, not too long after her birthday. She had been drinking from a stream when she laid eyes on a colt being bullied by a few yearlings. Seeing the helpless creature cowering and shaking, she felt herself about ready to pop and trudged over, already screaming at the yearlings -- sure as hell giving them what-for. About three minutes later, the yearlings were off, shaking and cringing themselves every time the word Lumina was even mentioned.
The mare finally recovered from her long-term stupor. She befriended more Equidius’ and learned that it’s all about living in the present; Not the past.
Lumina presently lives happily in the caves as a defender. She is well-known and respected for her temper and her grace, but she has a soft-spot for younger horses, as a younger horse was what saved her from wasting away life in grief and pity for herself.

{ Short Story One: Guess Who's in Trouble This Time! }
“Lumina!”
She knew she was in trouble this time. As Lumina scrambled through the cave corridor, her chest heaving with the effort and her lungs and heart pounding from the exhilaration, she heard her mother whinny loudly- fury practically gushed through her voice.
Making a frantic attempt to hide before she was caught and ultimately punished, Lumina leapt into a small opening in the hollow wall of the corridor she escaped through. There, she hunkered down and watched as her mother thundered past, hooves slamming forcefully against the ground and antennae flapping. Lumina cringed as she heard the voice of her aunt addressing her mother. “Lotus! Lotus, calm yourself. What has happened?”
Lumina heard the sharp, echoing noise of hooves denting rock. “Everything! Everything has happened, Catkin. Lumina escaped our chambers- again! - and she’s been out making mischief all day. I just returned, and she was gone. I found her, just a moment ago.” Lotus inhaled loudly, and then exhaled with the same volume. Lumina couldn’t help but snicker as Catkin, her aunt, snorted, her antennae glowing brighter with irritation. “But Lumina’s disappeared. Gone, just like that.”
Catkin looked over her shoulder, pricking her ears straight up and stiffening. “Oh, I believe I hear Balios. And… Oh, is that Jupiter with him?”
Lotus immediately brightened, jumping forward to meet her mate and her leader. Lumina, not thinking, did the same, frolicking from her hiding spot to stand in front of her mother and be the first to greet the two stallions.
“Ha!” cried Catkin, trotting forward. “I knew you were somewhere around here. Even the cleverest of fillies and colts cannot outwit me!” Catkin teased, leaning down and ruffling Lumina’s scruffy little mane with her cheek. Lumina, though, paid no mind to her aunt as she usually did. She was returning her mother’s infuriated gaze.
“Uh oh…” whispered her aunt, although that was obviously quite unnecessary.

{ Short Story Two: Wishing -work in progress- }
The noise of hooves clapping against the rock ground forced the sleeping mare into consciousness. With an indignant grunt, she blinked open her eyes. She breathed out heavily, her nostrils flaring.
“Lumina?”
The mare’s appaloosa rear-end was the first thing that the filly laid eyes on as she walked into the cavern which Lumina had claimed as her own to sleep in. “Good morning, Rhea,” groaned Lumina monotonously. “Um… My mommy says that she thinks there is something you should see.”
Lumina stood up and looked at her cousin, Rhea. “What?” Rhea, just a bit airheaded, repeated herself. “No, I understand,” murmured the mare, rolling her eyes and laughing.
Rhea did not laugh, though.
That was very unnatural, as Rhea laughs at much.
Lumina trotted after her cousin. She would have much rather come later in the day when she was more awake, but curiosity willed her on. “So, why did you wake me so, Rhe?” asked the mare politely.
Rhea glanced cautiously over her shoulder. “You’ll see.” Lumina could have sworn her cousin’s voice broke as she spoke those words.
Her heart began to sink as she recognized the corridor they traveled by. This was the route to her mother’s cavern.

{ Short Story Three: Finding Fire }
“Yes! Water...”
She bent down to the underground stream, plunging her nose into it and gulping greedily. It’d been awhile since Lumina had actually had fresh water. Mostly, she’d been licking droplets from the moss she pulled off of the walls of the caves.
She smiled as she drank and swished her tail with delight as the cool liquid slid down her throat.
Lumina tilted her head and pricked her ears. She could have sworn she’d heard something… A foal’s whinny of distress, perhaps? She raised her head precariously and peered around. Yes, now she was sure of it. A short, quiet whimper of fear, coming from down one of the corridors, accompanied by a few snorts of ridicule.
The mare fully stood up, worry and curiosity pulsing through her.
She trotted quietly through the stream, scurrying through the cavern and walking into the darkness that the corridor provided, as this one had no glowing moss or shafts of light. She walked quietly, her antennae leading the way for her.
Lumina stepped into another cavern. This one was a bit smaller than the one she had found a stream in, although almost five times as many souls were in this one. Four large yearlings stood in a half-circle, laughing and teasing something. It, honestly, looked like they had gone a little loony and were ridiculing the wall. But Lumina knew better.
She stomped a hoof, slamming it roughly into the rock.
The yearlings looked up, their eyes wide. “What were you saying, boys?” demanded the mare, tilting her head to the side. The stallions gave her innocent looks, tilting their heads to the side and smiling sweetly. “Oh, don’t play innocent with me. I wasn’t born yesterday.” And with that, Lumina launched into a series of scolds, explaining (rather loudly, mind) exactly what they’d done wrong and why they would never do it again.
Within an hour or so, she’d finished. She was panting heavily, her chest heaving form the long time of telling off the boys. They had shifted positions and now looked up at her, trembling and cowering.
“Got it?” she finished; her eyes and antennae were glowing with anger and exhilaration.
The yearling nodded. Lumina stepped back to dismiss them and off they were, racing through the corridor. Lumina smirked and swished her tail.
“Thank you, ma’am,” the small colt that had been teased earlier murmured, his voice trembling. “Oh, it’s not a big deal,” replied the mare, feeling her heart swell with delight.
She’d finally found her fire.

Do you have an Equidius yet? No, but I wish for this one to be my first!
Why do you want one? They're a fantastic, unique species. I love how they are so different- not woles, not cats. Not even directly horses! Specifically, this horse is... Oh. By far magnificent. Her coloring is a very beautiful mix of shades and colors, her spots are so cloud-like, and her eyes; Well, let's just say that I pretty much died when I first saw those eyes! Completely and utterly fantastic. I am so glad I decided to stalk KaiKenNatusuki's gallery a few days ago, otherwise, I wouldv'e never seen this Equidius nor would I have had the chance to call her mine.
What will you do with it? I will love her and squish her, for one thing. I will also find her a mate, quite possibly, and maybe even breed her? Not sure. But I will make a special spot in my character thread just for her. I believe that, outside of the world of Equidius, she will be a best friend to my Warrior Armored Saber, Adrastos. I have also started creating plushies by myself with my own bare hands. I believe that if I win Lumina, I will certainly make a plushie of her, and post it here! I will order art and show it off in my signature and wherever else I can, as well. I know my story and personality are kind of pitiful, but I fell in love from the moment I saw her.

Equidius Form

Equidius Name:
Celatum
meaning 'secret' in latin - [pronounced as CHE-lattum]

Age:
19 Years
Gender:
Stallion / Male
Size:
12 hands
Position in herd:
Forager

Personality: Celatum is a live secret that many ponder upon. His movements and his silence, though may bring tranquillity; still make many question about his existence. He is like that of a actor who is able to adapt to any situation - like a puppeteer he controls the situation playing on the feelings of those who surround him. He can makes someone fall in love with him and likewise he can makes other creatures hate him. However, behind most of the moods that he plays out in order to fit into a situation- he is still the same charming stallion that many desire. Celatum in reality only needs a few words or gestures to hypnotise someone - nonetheless, Celatum is not a cruel, ruthless evil monster and therefore rarely uses this power to fulfil his own heart's desire.
There are not many words in the dictionary to describe the calm and still stallion. In many ways he is like that of a shadow that is stuck in time. He is not particularly caring or gentle but mares really admire the patient and composed figure that they find so easily to talk to. But behind his soft words that one can easily be conciliated - there are very few who question his inner personality.
It is impossible not to love Celatum with his light humour and his likeable personality traits. He is meditative and ruminate but along with this comes his sensual heart which easily picks up on the feelings of others. He is understanding and though simple by nature, he is a good listener. Because he is so cautious and careful of his surroundings he was awarded the job of a forager. Celatum tends to muse a lot and therefore there is the questionable silence around him. It is impossible to see him as a dark, evil figure nevertheless it is also difficult to picture him as a good-doing angel. So who is he in reality?

Basic History
[written from the viewpoint of Celatum (i.e. first person) and third person at different times (present and past)]
The dark night sky arched over the eerie world. Nothing but the soft sound of hooves against the dead, infertile earth could be heard. Mountains in the distance slept lazily and the absence of the moon made the world a more dark and fearful place. But I savoured on every moment of this isolation. Darkness was like a long lost-friend that hid me from predators and from reality. But as I walked meekly on the surface of the earth, I knew that I would soon be joined by the Aurora Borealis.
The conversant silence was the world's secrecy – years grew quickly and all sorts of sound gradually deceased into the tune of nature. The song of living organisms was now losing it's power and no sound ever exceeded 40 decibels. But the dreadful feelings of loneliness and despair breathed in this world of what was once known as Earth. The stars had left this world long ago and yet all forms of life had died years ago. Everything was painted in the tones of darkness. Where was light? Where was life in this desert? It seemed that the world of darkness was never-ending; stretching for miles.
I walked steadily across the cold land, foraging for any substance that would keep me alive. Altering my walk to a fast trot, I gained speed– but no matter what distance I covered, I still didn't sense any food.
A ghost or a fragment of your imagination? You tell me that. But I felt like I had been trapped in a death trap - no food, no plants, nothing. The thought of the sweet, delicious glowing fungi made my stomach ache with pain. Foraging for food wasn't an ideal job if you were hoping to find food in the desert. I had now joined the gallop - I was painfully pushing myself to the limit with each step. I could have died simply because of lack of energy. Searching in a foreign area that was cast with darkness with nothing but the sound of my faint echoing neigh could be heard. Lost and estrangled in this nightmare, I still carried on running.
That's until I felt a sudden weakness in my legs; my front hoof had awkardly pushed inwards and I ran down, down, down stumbling.

*****

The soaring wind had hidden any sign of life - it howled mournfully as if grieving for something. But suddenly there was bright flashes of life that danced into the midnight sky. Starting from a light green and transdecending into other flashes of neon colours, it painted the darkness and now nothing could be seen except for the Aurora Borealis. The toxic cloud faded and invited pairs of dancers into the ballroom. It was a live show of beauty and enchantment. Moving along the floor, the moving spec of blue light danced onto the cold soil as it decended from the sky. It jumped lightly on the ground before hitting a body of a Equidius. There was the regular deep breathing but it was supported with the groaning moans of the creature. Without minutes to wait for; the long strand of light needled it's way into the creature's mane and disappeared within seconds. Celatum breathed gently as his memory reran his past and his history...

*****

Jumping, playing, cavorting into the air. Why was life so fun then? Lifting his little legs and then falling back - he snorted cheesily.
An black coloured handsome foal moved elegantly on the field, his head numb with the horns and his antennea softly flying behind him as he held his head high with child pride. A little jump with the help of his back hind legs and then rolling on his back. There was nothing more joyful then seeing the little colt grow up in life with fun. He whinnied mutely, kicking his head up. His antennea flying lightly above his head and shining with the usual luminious blue. Was this the real me?
There was the soft neighs of other mothers to their foals - but none which he recognised. The little Appalosa foal breathed quietly; seeing that he was now alone.
'Hello my boy!' murmured a soft voice. The colt saw nothing and felt nothing. He snorted in reply and again he heard the voice.
'Son?'
'What is that? Who is there?'
'I am here silly!'
'Where?'
'Look at the front of you.'
The colt cast his gaze onto a medium sized, pale-palomino dappled mare whom smiled joyfully.
'My Boy! What were you doing for so long? You should have seen me by now!'
I remember her; I remember the melodic voice and the golden eyes and the warm scent beside her - But why is she not with me now? Why?
I remember that strong bond between us and the smiling, pleasant feeling that I had when I was around her. I didn't have any certain name that my mother called but she tend to nickname me 'my boy'. In our herd; Equidius horses were only named when they reached three years of age. But mother didn't live until my 3rd Birthday; she didn't survive to it. That is why I didn't receive my name from her. She didn't live, she died. But how?

*****

'Celatum?' A delicate feminine voice touches me softly as she repeats my name.
'What?'
Brushing my body against the ground, my orbs scan the world to see Fae. The pretty fairy-like mare plays around me. Fae dances as if flying on air; her position as a defender may seem silly but her dance and her wit is captivating. Any victim could die if they don't stop admiring this mare. My mouth feels dry and my body feels stiff. I pull my mass over onto my feet and look around to see the same environment, the same world. But the sky is dead and the world is lost again. I don't say anything and meet my eyes with the anxious look that I am being given.
'Fae? Where am I?'
'Well you are not in Equidius heaven for sure. The herd has been scoundering everywhere for you. There was no sign left of you. Thank the Earth that I found you.'
With that simple structured answer she delicately glides over the ground and is in a few seconds was ready to bound away. I walk slowly towards her and leap away with Fae. With that I blindly stumble to where Fae leads to. The light from her, radiates and I follow like a little lamb.
The entry into the herd was like that of a huge party that was suddenly thrown. I can't help quickly hid my entry and leave the scene. Moving into a more silent area of the herd - where Fae was standing watching ground. I quietly admire her protective glance as she gazes over the herd.
'Fae?' I gently whispers. Fae turns her huge shining eyes at me.
'What's wrong?'
'Fae, tell me one thing. Who had given me my name?'
Fae's eyes lost heart as if she was gone in a lost world. Her coat shone brightly in the dark world but the secret in his heart had darkened the world.
'Cellatum; your name was given to you by the herd. We had discovered you as a lost foal. Your discovery was a secret; your history was a secret. That is what Cellatum means secret.'
'But my mother, what about her? She couldn't possibly have given me that name.' I protest.
'I am sorry, but that's all I know about you.' she gently answered.
And suddenly, I fall again into the wild dream...

*****

'Quickly, wake up little one!'
Everything was in a live frenzy as each small family had disappeared quickly as the herd split up. I rose onto my thin long legs and was pushed instantly by my mother. Me as as foal again? But I couldn't come to my senses so quickly because my mother was now pushing me towards the hill.
'Come on quickly! Quick! Quick! Quick! Run for the mountains, higher away from the field. Remember my words and keep them safe in your heart, Cellatum.'
Those were the last words I heard, as I escaped away. I heard nothing after me except for my name - 'Cellatum'. My mum, my life was ruined because of what? But there were no answers as I escaped up to the mountains. I lived there for months, for nearly a year. I was found asleep; I was found by my new herd. But my name?

*****

'Cellatum! Wake up!' Fae's soft, light voice carefully hit me once again.
'What?
'You fell again once into a trance. Are you sure that you are feeling alright?'
'Fae, please try to answer me. My mother. My mother, have you ever heard of a horse called Maya? Palomino coat -'
'Cellatum, please - she was an equine. Which is a prehistoric animal. She was your imagination.'
'Fae, you didn't answer my question. Equine or non-equine. Have you ever seen-'
'Seen? Well, we did see a equine-like creature that has been nearly fully devoured by predators. But -'
'But, what?'
'She couldn't escape in time. She was not your mother because she was not a Equidius and only an Equidius can give birth to any Equidius. She was not your mother.'
So my so-called mother had named me 'secret' because neither did she know about me; just like my herd I was foreign to them.
Carefully, lifting my heavy heart and my heavy body I embraced Fae gently.
'Thank you Fae. Thank you.'

Do you have an Equidius yet? Sadly not.
Why do you want one? I find the breed itself beautiful and enchanting - I adore the idea of antennae and find that this makes the breed more secretive and special in it's own way. I don't know what hit my heart when I saw this boy, the markings are painted on him to look natural. The simple colouring and the contrast of black and white. There is really no complex markings or fashionable colours on him but he looks so naturally coloured that even maybe the most normal of horses won't find him to be different! I don't know what exactly struck me but I find that an atmosphere of serenity is present around him and it is impossible not to fall in love with him. I really adore this breed and would love to spend my time writing about him.
What will you do with it? Love him and certainly do my best to find the perfect mate for him. But I am actually planning to welcome him into my horse herd. [All of the horses there are not naturally-coloured, so he won't feel like the odd one out ;3]. That means placing him on the equine character thread and showering him with love. But now with the absence of writer's block; I have been receiving random and weird ideas which push me to write on. I certainly won't be making this boy do circus tricks or whatever - but I will be given the chance to write about silent and eerie areas while featuring him. And certainly roleplay him.

Congratulations, Faint. You truly deserved him and I am not in the least surprised you won. I wasn't even sad that I lost, 'cause I knew I didn't have a chance.
Amazing form and again, congrats. Maybe next equidius I could get you to critique my form. ;3
