└──────────────────────────────┘This is Sugar Loaf. She traveled around with a circus for most of her life. But one day, when the circus set up next to a fair, Sugar Loaf escaped from her stall and went off to explore the fair grounds.

*Sugar Loaf trotted along until she came across a merry-go-round. She spotted a large zebra on it. "That must be my mother!" Sugar Loaf thought, since both she and the zebra sported stripes.

*Sugar Loaf scrambled onto the merry-go-round and nuzzled up to the zebra, which was surprisingly hard and cold. Suddenly she froze when she felt something heavy slide onto her back.

*Sugar Loaf let out a high-pitched whinny, bucked, and tore off the merry-go-round. The sounds of the child's cries made Sugar Loaf feel bad, but she was too much in a state of shock to brave going back and comforting him.

*Sugar Loaf slowed down, breathing hard and feeling lonely. She saw a small building filled with colorful toys where people threw balls at targets. She slunk in and curled into a corner.

*"I want that little horse!" A little girl leaned over the counter of the building, pointing at Sugar Loaf! The man inside the building blinked at Sugar Loaf, but said, "I don't remember ordering her, but since she's here, she's all yours."

*The man bent down and scooped Sugar Loaf up. He passed her over the counter into the waiting arms of the little girl. Sugar Loaf snuggled into the girl's shirt, forgetting all about her bad experience on the merry-go-round.

*Sugar Loaf shied when the circus animal-wrangler strode up to the girl and the woman she was with. "Hey! That's my filly!" he yelled. The girl's arms tightened around Sugar Loaf. "Here," said the woman, pulling some bills from her pocket and holding them out to the wrangler. "Will this be enough, sir?" He eyed the money, eyed the girl and Sugar Loaf, then snatched the bills and stalked away. "Hurray!" cried the little girl.

My little cousin adopted the zonkey foal and named her Sugar Loaf. Since her family had no where to keep her, I took Sugar Loaf to Unicorn Wishers Ranch to live. Sugar Loaf loves it here, maintaining a healthy sense of adventure even as a high-spirited adult.
