short description : A small witch who belonged to a powerful coven not long ago. She was loved for her unique potions and ideas but once one of the members she despised "disappeared" she was to blame since everyone knew who she hated most. She was locked up for years until she escaped and began to practice her own dark magic elsewhere. She often uses broken gems she finds in her potions to add a little elegance and style.

Telekinesis
Since they have no arms, they use telekinesis to lift things. Nix's telekinesis is only able to lift things they would normally be able to lift if they had arms. For example, Nix can lift a book, but they cannot lift a car or another doll. Nix can lift up to five things depending on their weight and distance from them. Nix can lift things up to 10 doll-scale feet away.

shadow:

Nix's shadow is an unnamed bottle that is continuously creating liquid. Nix uses this liquid to give their potions potency. The more liquid is added, the more potent the potion is. Nix's potions will not work without at least a little bit of the liquid. If Nix does not periodically pour out liquid from their shadow, the shadow may overfill itself and possibly die. There is no consequence if the bottle is emptied.
It takes 12 hours for the shadow to completely refill itself when emptied.

personality:

Nix is a generally happy and cheerful doll. They enjoy alchemy and run an apothecary shop out of their room in the dollhouse. Their products range from healing potions for shadows, crack sealing and strengthening glue for dolls, as well as air fresheners and perfumes, and many other things most dolls wouldn't even think they need. Nix is very friendly and often sells their potions for little or no cost.

When people disagree with Nix, they get very defensive, even over the littlest things. Often Nix gets so frustrated during arguments, all they can do is scream and run away to calm down. Nix often calms down while gardening. They have an herb garden where they get most of the ingredients for their potions that they love to spend time in.

history:

Nix's story began during the Great Depression. A small rag doll was given to a little girl. It wasn't much, but she loved it. As the little girl got older, she discarded the rag doll and moved onto more mature things, like dating... college... working... marriage... children... It wasn't until she was an old woman that she began thinking of her childhood companion again. In her old age, the woman had taken up the hobby of making beautiful porcelain dolls. She decided to create the ragdoll, but instead of rags, she would re-make it out of fine porcelain. Her new doll was strange compared to her previous dolls, with their frilly, Victorian dresses, perfectly curled hair, and beautiful glass eyes. This new doll was dressed plainly, had no hair, no eyes, and a strange, mischievous smile.

When the woman passed, her children sold most of her dolls except a few, special dolls. One of the dolls that was kept was the rag-turned-porcelain doll. It was given to the woman's oldest grandchild, a teenager obsessed with fantasy mages. The teen painstakingly sewed new clothing and a floppy hat for the doll, hand embroidering the runes. They then glued a small gem to the forehead, and made a staff for the doll. In the teen's opinion, the doll was perfect.

When the teen moved away to college, they gave the doll to their little sibling. The child was not careful with the doll, and ended up losing the staff, as well as leaving the doll in the hallway where both arms were stepped on and broken. After the doll's arms were broken, the child no longer wanted the doll, and threw it away. It was in the trash that the doll made the contract with the bottle, and climbed their way out of the trash. They had no memory of being a doll, nor any clue as to their gender, name, identity, or anything. This is probably because they were never assigned any identity characteristics by any of their owners.

Once they got to the dollhouse, they named themself Nix. Nix found the dollhouse very exciting, with its varied inhabitants and architecture. Once they discovered the library, however, Nix truly fell in love with the place. They read and read and read as many books as they could, often into the wee hours of the morning. When Nix found a book on herb gardening, they found their passion. Nix learned as much as they could about plants and their applications, and after many years of practice, research, and experimenting, Nix became a skilled alchemist.

Now Nix rarely ever leaves the dollhouse, except to deliver potions to doll not currently living at the dollhouse, or to find a special ingredient for one of their potions that they cannot get locally.

(this witch is adorable and I am v irritated that I do not have time to try out for them. so! bc anything with runes on it makes me excited, here's a little rune guide:)



(the runes on their cloak look to be a form of younger futhark (it evolved a bunch over the period it was used), or just a mixture. This has no real importance but runes are great and I guess this might be useful for characterisation? idk. remember, runes have (mostly fairly recently invented) symbolic and portentious meanings, so they're great for depicting particular spells! the combination of different runes into one symbol, sometimes called a bindrune, is really fun to do and when done right suggests a particular, very specific spell or effect. *finger guns* the more you know.)

The spell is actually the name of the shadow itself. Destiny. The spell when applied to any inanimate object or doll, brings them to life! It can be applied numerous times to an object or a doll. If an object and then a doll got 2 drops of the flamboyant fluid, they will immediately be drawn to each other one way or another. After Wihnhilda had learned that her shadow did this, she instantly knew that they were meant for each other and that it was their duty to get the Dollhouse more members. Despite its name, the shadow does know who to use its fluids on by pure intuitive instinct.

Because of this, the spell and shadow is merely named Destiny.
