Username: Nanami`

Name: Almein

Gender: Male

Favorite food and why?: He absolutely adores pineapples. You see, he has this thing for astrology, so when he is eating pineapples under the stars, he thinks about the sun, and it brings all types of wonders to his mind. It's a weird relation, trust me, he knows. However, more than once has the thought "I wonder, if you could eat the sun, what would it taste like?" crossed his mind, and the scent and taste of pineapple would quickly overtake his senses. He also thinks the yellow colors of pineapples are a fine contrast against his fur.

Extra:

Darkness dawned upon the skies as the beginning of the end of another day began. The beautiful nymph-like stars crawled out from their darkening blanket and their now more prominent twinkles signifying they were ready to play. Their companion, the moon, shone even brighter. Tonight, the heavens showed no signs of shyness.
Little did these beautiful stars and noble moon know of the existence of the mortal being that gazed upon their play every night. Who perched upon the canopy of the forest and eyes reflected their bright glow. This ‘existence’ was a very curious Kiamara named Almein.
His dark green fur bristled excitedly as he gazed upon them, perfectly camouflaged into the foliage of the forest. Well, all besides his eyes. They were a bright, bright red. However, the expression he had on his face would not make you think ‘menacing’. It would remind you more of a child who had just been recently introduced to the more wondrous parts of science, such as astronomy, archeology, and zoology.
It was a look of pure innocent curiosity. He looked upon the stars for hours, undisturbed, with a fascination that never ran dry.
It came sudden and fast, like a strike from a cobra. Almein was too uninterested in his surroundings and too emerged in his thoughts to noticed before-hand. The vegetation rustled uneasily one moment, making him react just before he was tackled by a slightly smaller body, causing both of them to fall from the safety of the tall trees.
“AAAH!” Two voices intertwined as they both fell from the perch. They were caught by a several large, thick and supportive leaves near the forest floor before they could fall to their death.
Both gasped for air, having the wind knocked out of them. Almein was the first to stumble back onto his feet, and quite angrily at that.
“FARORE! Why did you do that!?” Almein looked flustered, but not angry. He was a Kiamara of mind, honestly, and had no intention of fighting his best friend.
She smirked, and then her teeth showed and she broke into all-out laughter. “The look on your face right now, Almein! My dear friend, it’s truly priceless, I’ll give you that!”
He frowned once again, his red eyes still remaining just as innocent as they were when he was gazing at the stars. Even now, after both of them had received their feathers, he could not bring himself to do more than frown when they were arguing. However, Almein was truly angry this time. He turned around, walking away from Farore.
“Aw, Almein, I’m sorry. You just kept gazing at those old stars, I started getting worried you lost your head for a second there.”
Unlike Almein, Farore was most self-confident about herself and more about living in the moment. Her hair fell in a beautiful wild wave; Almein’s just nearly blocked his eyes from seeing properly and was grown just as wildly as Farore’s. However, this was mostly because he couldn't keep it calm. Not that he particularly cared about appearances.
Almein kept walking, his footsteps light against the leaf that supported them, seeing as it could give away at any moment. Of course, it wouldn’t. Not where Almein treaded. He knew the forest like the end of his tail or the feathers that decorated it.

w.i.p - note: Farore is owned by Blitz. I have her permission to use her in this story, I hope it's alright I did.

Name: Kyrin (Irish name meaning "dark-haired", also a misspelling of "kirin", an ancient Chinese mythical beast. He reminds me of a kirin.)

Gender: Male

Favorite food and why? Green tea cakes. He loves how they're sweet like a cake yet also have the refreshing taste of green tea.

Extra (Art, Story, etc. ONLY ONE EXTRA, but it is not necessary) :
Kyrin walked slowly around the courtyard of the ancient monastery, kicking up dust and dirt from the stones beneath his paws. He was so bored today. The monks where off hustling about indoors, getting set up for tourists or lunch or goodness knows what else. Kyrin didn't know. The green kiamara paused as he spotted a loose pebble in his path and then whacked it with one paw, sending it rolling off across the empty courtyard. They were always busy, too busy to play with him or do anything even remotely fun. They wouldn't let him leave the monastery in fear of him getting lost in the big city beyond it either. Kyrin shivered, remembering the first and last time such a tragedy had happened when he was little. He would have been either trampled or sold by one of the many residents of the city if one of the younger monks who had been on an errand hadn't found him. That aside, he was still terribly bored. Perhaps one of his other friends could play with him? A twinge of loneliness pricked his heart as reality hit him. He didn't have any friends other than the monks. The kiamara let out a long, sad sigh.

A voice suddenly reached his ears, making him jump nearly two feet in the air. "Hello?" it called from beyond the huge stone and plaster wall that separated the monastery from the world outside it. A flash of gold appeared in the edge of Kyrin's vision and he whipped his head around to see a puffy blonde head peak out from around the corner of the gigantic entrance to the monastery and its courtyard. A young human girl followed the curly blonde hair and head. Kyrin twitched as the girl spotted him and met his gaze with her own bright blue eyes. "Oh!" she exclaimed, looking startled. The two stared at each other for what seemed like ages to Kyrin before the girl promptly began to walk towards him. He backed away from her, not sure how to approach such a strange visitor to the monastery. The girl was relentless in her pursuit and caught up quickly to Kyrin as he scooted away from her. His back end hit a smooth surface, and Kyrin realized that he had backed up right into the very wall that protected him from outside forces such as the girl that stood looking down at him. He swallowed nervously, realizing he was trapped. What fate awaited him? The girl began to open her mouth and Kyrin's dread started to invade his very mind.

"Are you a kiamara?" she asked, her voice curious.

Kyrin blinked. "Um, yes." he sputtered. She didn't sound horrible and terrifying. He looked closer at the girl. She didn't even look terrifying.

"Wow," the girl breathed out excitedly before giving him a friendly smile. "What's your name?"

The kiamara cleared his throat. "Um. Kyrin. My name's Kyrin." Her outgoing demeanor made him relax a bit. He still felt wary of the girl, since she had come from beyond the wall of the monastery. He felt a little silly that he thought she would do something horrible and cruel to him, like kidnap him or eat him or something similarly ridiculous.

"Kyrin? Huh." The girl lifted a hand to her chin, rubbing it thoughtfully. "Are you named after a dragon?"

The kiamara was taken aback by this statement and shook his head furiously. He swished his tail back and forth like an angry cat, his feathers that where the color of the monk's orange and yellow robes tossing about with his tail. The blonde wasn't threatening, she was just silly! Kyrin scoffed at the girl. "I'm named after a kirin," he explained to her with a huff. "A noble and beautiful creature that brings good fortune. The monks of this monastery named me after they found me." He raised his chin to the heavens with pride, attempting with all his might to look down at the girl that towered above him. "They say I bring them good luck."

The girl gave a brief, loud laugh. Kyrin jumped slightly, startled by her outburst, and looked alarmed. "Sorry," the girl said after she noticed his expression. "I just still think you look more like a dragon."

The kiamara snorted through his nose. "I look like a kirin," he insisted, stating it like it was a fact of nature. "Here, lemme show you." He searched the courtyard of the monastery for the ancient stone kirin statue that had sat next to the steps that lead to the other half of the cobblestone courtyard for as long as anyone could remember. Kyrin finally caught its stone gaze and trotted up to it. He heard the girl following calmly behind him as he stopped next to the stone steps, smooth and worn from years of rain and footsteps. The kiamara hopped up onto the empty stone block on the opposite side of the steps, parallel to the block the kirin statue sat frozen upon. Kyrin sat down on the block and lifted one paw, opening his maw like the stone kirin was. He looked towards the girl who sat behind the stone kirin, her arms crossed and on top of the statue's head. She was smiling.

"See?" Kyrin attempted to say, but it sounded more like "eee?" with his mouth open wide. The girl couldn't seem to hold in her amusement any longer, and she burst out laughing. Kyrin gave her an annoyed look, feeling offended by her finding him apparently hilarious. Her laughter was so pure and sounded so much like the ringing of little bells that he couldn't help but let a smile tug at the edges of his open mouth as well. He closed his maw and placed his paw back onto the stone block, chuckling in tune with the girl's own laughter. "I guess I did look pretty silly, huh?" He asked her as her laughter began to dwindle. She nodded, gasping for breath from the laughter and wiping away the tears in the corners of her eyes.

"Hee hee... Yeah, hee, you did." The girl finally said after calming herself down. She shot him another joyful smile. "But if you really feel that seriously about looking like a kirin... I guess I can see you as one too." The blonde girl rubbed the back of her curly head sheepishly. "I'm... sorry I said you looked like a dragon before. I guess dragons aren't as good as kirins, and you're a good kia, so you should be compared to a kirin. You know what I mean?"

Kyrin's face broke into a pearly white smile, happiness permeating from his very being. "I do," he told the girl. "And... thanks."

The girl lowered her hand from the back of her head and down onto the kirin statue once more. She gave a smile back to Kyrin in return for his own. "No problem."

"Annabell!" a woman's voice suddenly called from the huge square hole in the wall of the monastery that made up its entrance. "It's time to go sweetie! We're going to go see the Summer Palace next!"

The blonde girl looked up from Kyrin with a start. "That's my mom," she muttered. She hauled herself off of the ground behind the kirin statue and dashed over to where she could see past the entrance to the monastery.

"Okay," she called as Kyrin saw her wave to whoever was past the wall, "I'll be there in a second!" She ran back to the stone steps as Kyrin got up off of the stone block. "That's my parents," she told him, a sad tone in her voice. "I have to go now."

The kiamara saw her face fall down into a frown. His heart ached at the thought of his new friend being so sad, and he smiled reassuringly back up at her. "It's alright," he said. "It's not like we're saying goodbye forever. I'm sure if you come back to China one day we can see each other again. I'll be right here in this monastery waiting for you, too."

A small smile alighted on the girl's face. "Really?"

Kyrin held out a paw for her to take. "Promise."

The girl broke out into a full smile, taking his paw and shaking it earnestly. "I'll see you tomorrow then!"

Kyrin's jaw dropped open in surprise as the girl ran off towards the entrance to the monastery, waving back behind her at the kiamara. "But..." he whispered before his voice rose to a shout for the girl to hear. "But I thought you were a tourist!"

She paused in her tracks to laugh and then called back, "Nope, I just moved to China! I'm Annabell by the way, but everyone just calls me Bell!" Bell cupped her hands to her mouth and yelled to Kyrin, "What's your name?"

Kyrin couldn't help but laugh out of relief and because of his new friend's statement. She had him fooled the whole time, thinking she was just a tourist from some far-off country there in China for a vacation. "I'm Kyrin!" he called back after catching his breath.

"I know, silly!" Bell yelled in reply, letting out a brief laugh. "See you tomorrow then, Kyrin!" she shouted before dashing out the entrance to her parents beyond the wall.

Kyrin sat back on his haunches and cupped his paws to his mouth, using them like a megaphone to amplify his voice. "Bye, Bell!" he called to her as loud as he could. The kiamara then dropped back onto all fours, a smile brighter than the sun gracing his face. He pushed himself up off of the ground into a standing position and trotted happily back towards the main monastery building and the monks that had taken him in so long ago. He chuckled joyfully to himself.

This was the best day ever.
