Name:

Ora
(this name is latin for white wave)

Breedable:

Only for the right Male, because she can't take anyone leaving her again.

Short Story:

"Fish! Fish for sale!" Chanted the fisherman at the market. These chants slowly died down as the day went on. Finally, the day came to an end, but Adella would soon find out it was far from over. She wanted to go to the beach to get away from the busy town. She would much rather live at the beach, She feels more comfortable, more at home. The moon was watching over the beach. It was peaceful and quite. All you could hear were the waves crashing on the sand. The wind started to pick up, and it started to cry a longing cry. This went on for a while, but when the wind finally died, Adella noticed something weird. The crying from the wind was still going, but there was no wind.

Adella looked around for the true source of the cries. The cries continued but she couldn't see where they were coming from. She was nervous because the cries had so much pain behind them. Adella wanted to find where the cries were coming from. As she looked out to sea, Adella looked back and forth but saw nothing. Then something popped up out of the water. At this same time the cries began, and ended as the creature dived backed down.

The creature did this repeatedly, popping up in different places each time. She finally started to swim to shore. As this creature began to near the beach, Adella was able to see the outline of this creature. It was an Elkrin, and finally Adella realized that this Elkrin was the Seaside Elkrin. She remembered the stories the locals would her when she first moved here. Adella moved here excited because she loved the beach, and the first day she went to the beach. This was the first time she heard the cries. Adella was a lot younger, but she still remembers that day. She saw a young Elkrin doe, who had matured from a fawn not too long ago. She was running up and down the beach, making a similar cry. Adella tried to walk up to her, but she wouldn't stop crying out to the vast ocean. All Adella could think was if you lost something in that underwater world, I don't think you'll find it soon. Adella asked around and finally told her the history of the Seaside Elkrin. This particular doe lost the only thing that brought her, and any of us, comfort and happiness, the love from a caring family. She lost everything.
As Adella looked at the grown doe who was still searching, She couldn't just sit there. She got up and started heading towards the doe. As she neared the elegant doe, the doe started to run towards the ocean as if she expected to find something she missed. As she swam out, Adella decided it was about time she got that swim she so greatly desired. She looked out to see a part of the does body stick out. It looked more gray then the blue she saw. The Elkrin, she remembered, had markings that looked like the ocean stained her coat. I swam out to swim her. She was staying under for a while without coming up. The Adella heard the cries but the Elkrin was still underwater. She turned to the direction of the cries to see the actual Seaside Elkrin. Adella looked at the thing she was swimming towards, turned and started to swim towards Adella. Adella had swam right towards a shark!

Adella hurried and swam back to shore, but she was no match for the grey child of the sea. There was a good distance between them so she was able to make it back to the shore. She looked back and realized the Elkrin was still in the water crying for her family. The shark turned back and started to head toward the Elkrin, who was oblivious to the nearing danger.

Adella started to panic, and didn't know what to do. She couldn't leave the doe. She wouldn't leave the doe. She wouldn't leave the doe. She started yelling to the doe. She screamed get out over and over again. Finally, the doe snapped out and looked at Adella then glanced at the grey fin heading towards her. There was a lot less distance between the Elkrin and the shark. Adella worried she wouldn't make it. Adella didn't know what to do put either way she wasn't going anywhere. She decided to make a stupid decision. Adella was going to swim towards the shark. Adella wasn't sure what she was going to do when she reached the Elkrin, but she just had to. She met the scared Elkrin who had stopped moving. Adella tried to push the paralyzed doe, but that was useless. The shark was nearing and the doe wasn't willing to leave the water.

Adella looked at the Elkrin who was still crying for her family. Adella looked at the doe and said, "I know i don't know you and you don't know me, but I promise you, you'll never have the chance to find your family if you sit here. I know you are hurt, but there is someone out there who is waiting to find you. Do you want someone to feel the pain you felt when you were alone?" The doe turned to me, her eyes filled with tears. She wouldn't stop looking at me and she finally turned and started to swim towards the beach. They swam as fast as they could. The Elkrin almost dragging Adella. The shark was still coming and was now closer than ever.

They both were breathing heavily and Adella smiled at the doe. They made it to the beach. "I was never going to leave you," Adella said with a trusting voice. The doe looked at Adella, and for the first time she smiled. At that moment Adella felt and overwhelming sensation. The doe and her became connected, and would never become separate. They would both be there for the other when ever one needed the other. Adella looked at the doe and asked, "May I call you Ora?" The doe managed to nod. "I know you long to find your family, but I promise you, wasting your time looking at the same place is not going to help." Adella said while she nodded towards the town. Ora was hesitant but when she looked into Adella's eyes and felt safe enough to leave. Ora said goodbye to the beach for now and turned towards Adella, her new live. Adella had made a new friend, a new family.

They went to visit the beach the next night and for the first time, Ora was smiling at the ocean. They laughed and played, but didn't dare go swimming again at night. They would have plenty of time to swim, but right now was a time celebrate new friendship. Adella looked at Ora and said, "I'm your family now, and I won't leave you."

OMG, her story just makes me want to cry! She seems that she would fit in well with Mizu, who has also lost his seaside family.

:The Gem of the Sea:

Name: Sagara mem lahara
Nicknames:
Lahara
Sage
Memsy
Lala

Name Breakdown:
Her name means "Ripple in the Ocean" in Hindi. I figured this was fitting since she has had many 'ripples' in her life, and her coat looks like the light ripples of a windy ocean.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Breedable:
Yes! She would make a wonderful mother, and be very protective. She has lost enough of her family already, she would never loose a fawn. Not to mention her fawns would be absolutely GORGEOUS!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Short Story:

The beach was lonely, that day. Just like my life. My parents had just divorced, and were fighting over custody. To add to that, my boyfriend had dumped me, and my beloved owl (Barnard) had just died. There hadn't been a day where I haven't cried. I just wanted some empathy, someone who understood what loosing the ones you love is really like. My heart was broken. But, enough about me. Walking around on a deserted beach has it's advantages, for one thing you don't have to worry about large crouds overwhelming you. It would have been nice, if it weren't so cloudy. The beach had an eerie vibe, that day. Surf was piling up on the shore, and a light fog rolled in and swirled around my feet. I wasn't going to swim or anything, I was just on a leisurly hike around the beach. To see what I could find. The sand was dry and grainy as I curled my toes in a particularly loose spot on the ground. I had my backpack with me, with all my emergency provisions stored away in its safe, waterproof clutches. A small lunch, some water, a switchblade, matches, and a sketchbook that came with a pencil. I thought that I could sit down and draw for a while, if I weren't so scared.
Finally, I found a half way decent place to stop and rest. I pulled out my sandwich and my book, and began to draw. There wasn't really anything to draw, except for a dull and gray sky. I started wondering how the Runes were doing back at the house, whit the new sitter. Were they giving her any trouble? After I finished my sandwich, I packed up my bag, and continued to walk. A gull cried in the distance, as I let out a sigh. I was thinking about the Elkrin. I had been trying to find one for months now, but with little luck. They were returning, and now people were starting to take them as pets again. If only I could be part of that croud. "Hey, watch it!" I heard a burly voice in the distance, and started to walk toward it. "Why do you care, it's just an animal!" Another voice chimed in, as a could see a foggy silohette of two men trying to tie something down. It was large, almost horse like. Could it be...?
"This little beauty will make us rich!" The fog cleared a bit, and I could see what seemed to be two fishermen trying to get ahold of a beautiful Female Seaside Elkrin. She had a look of panic in her eyes, as the two men tied a thick rope around her muzzle.
"Yeah, her hide holds a pretty penny on the market. We just have to find someone willing to tan her hide." Good God! They were poachers! I had to save this Elkrin, but in order to do that I'd have to come up with a plan. And quick, as I could see the men binding the Elkrin's legs together with another thick piece of rope. Think, Think Luz! What can I do?!? An Idea popped into my head as the men started talking again.
"Hey, Carl. Wanna get some lunch? We can just tie the deer to that tree and come back for her later."
"Sounds good to me." The two men tied the ropes to a droopy palm tree, and started walking away. I waited a few seconds before I burst onto the scene, grabbing the Ropes that bound this Elkrin. She started to bleat, so I pet her head to calm her down. That would work for the time being. Now, how to get these knots undone? Then I remembered, my switchblade. I grabbed it out of my pack and unfliped the blade from its holster. I grabbed the rope and began to saw at it with the blade, being careful not to cut the Elkrin itself. I left the teather on her muzzle so that I could guide her away from the ports, and away from the poachers. I ran, pulling the Elkrin behind me. She was reluctant to leave, especially with a stranger, but we had to keep going. She stopped running, and when I turned around, she was bowing low enough for me to climb on top of her back. To confirm this, she flashed me a beckoning look as if to say "C'mon! You know you want to!" And I did, so I clambered onto her slippery back, and we took off. She was about two times faster than me, kicking up dusty sand with every step. She seemed to sense the urgency that we needed to get away, or face certain death. A sliver of sun peeked through the clouds, as a sign of hope. We were going to make. But just as soon as it had appeared, it dissapeared along with our hope.
"Hey! What's she doing with our deer!" Amazing, these men actually thought she was a deer.
"Looks like she's trying to steal it!"
"Get the girl, I'll get the deer." The men charged at us, too quickly to get away. The larger one rammed into the side of the Elkrin, cracking her rib cage and sending me flying off of her back. I hit the sand with a thud, and I too could hear my own arm crack and break. I wailed in pain as the smaller man approached me with his fists clenched. He took off his gloves and revealed brass knuckles attatched to his fingers. He raised his fist, and punched me several times in the arm, making my bone crack even more. The larger man did the same thing to the Elkrin's Rib cage, making her wail in pain. Then I remembered my emergency provisions in my pack. I grabbed the switchblade, and unholstered it just as the man was about to strike, As his hand neared mine, I waved the blade madly through the air, sending several little droplets through the sand. The man yelped, as I managed to clamber to my feet. "If you ever try to hurt an animal again, I'll find you, and I'll cut you like this." I walked over to the larger man, trying to tie up the Elkrin, and slashed the blade across his face. He screamed and wailed, and his friend had a look of pure horror across his face. The both ran, far back to the docks, and possibly beyond. I ran over to the Elkrin, hoping she was Ok. She obviously was not. Her rib cage had splintered, causing her skin to rip open and bleed. Her legs were fractured, jutting out from the rest of her body. She was unconcious. I shook her head, splashed the ocean water on her face, but nothing worked. All the while, my arm was seething in pain, and the broken bone was starting to puncture my skin. It was worse than I thought. Finally, I just gave up, and laid down of the Elkrin's chest. I started to cry, not just from physical pain, but also emotional. "Why...why did something so beautiful have to go..." I cried for what seemed like hours. After a while, it started to rain. Finally, I gave up on myself, and went to sleep.
~~~~~~~~~~~
When I woke up, I was in a white room surrounded by medical equiptment. I was hooked up to an IV, and I was laying down in a thin nightgown. Pain returned to my arm, which was now put into a cast and sling, and I moaned. The nurse in my room looked over at me, and she plastered a smile on her face. "Oh good! You're up!"
"Wh...Where am I?"
"You're at Alabaster Hospital. We found you on the beach with an Elkrin, you were both unconcious. We took you back here and found out that you've had some pretty bad internal bleeding. You've been out for 2 days now. Glad to see you're up."
"What happened to the Elkrin, is she Ok?"
"Oh, she's fine. Mind you, she had worse injuries. But she's recovering at Ocean View Animal Hospital. Is she yours?"
"No. I saved her from some poachers, but they hurt us pretty badly. Can I see her?"
"Sure, but you have to go in a wheelchair, you're not healthy enough to stand up yet."
So, I went and saw the Elkrin. She had casts on her legs and ribcage, and looked pretty bad. But she seemed happy to see me when I wheeled in the door. "Hey." I said. "So...what are you going to do about living arrangements?" Silly me, thinking she could understand me. "Do you wanna come back and live with me?" Oddly enough, she nodded. "Ok...great! But, shouldn't I give you a name?" I said. i tried to think up some names, but none of them seemed to work. "I know! How about Lahara?" She nodded her head. "Yeah...Sagara mem Lahara, that's your name. Although I think I'll just call you Lahara." Lahara nodded, and she seemed to almost smile. Even though my arm was still broken, my heart had just healed itself. An Elkrin to finally call my own.
Re: Seaside Elkrin Doe
Postby .a m a r y l l i s. » Fri Mar 01, 2013 9:38 am
:Form:
Name:
Nereida
The name Nereida means ''sea nymph''; in Greek mythology, the Nereids were goddesses of the sea, and the patrons of sailors and fishermen.
Breedable:
Of course, to the right stag~
Short Story:
"The sea is a dangerous place, boy.
Never forget that."
If there was one thing Kelby remembered about his grandfather, it was his continual warnings to be wary of the water from which they made their living.
"Respect her, 'cause she sure won't respect you. She'll drag you down, if you let her, and she won't care none for what you leave behind."
Sitting there, staring morosely the sand, he felt the same choking truth behind those words that had plagued him for going on three months now, feeding a grief so raw it threatened to burn itself into the very fibers of his being, supposing it hadn't already.
The sea didn't care. If it had, Kelby would still have the only family he had ever known.
Instead, he was left with nothing but a dilapidated boat, and the sea.
Always the sea.
Blinking back tears, Kelby's eyes dropped, finding the lucky bracelet his grandfather had made him when he was born. The village folk were quick to point to it as his means of survival, muttering amongst themselves how lucky he was to have been born in the caul. And while Kelby couldn't see what that had to do with his not drowning, he knew that his grandfather had felt the same; it was why he had sewed it between the pieces of leather he used to make a bracelet for his grandson, lest the talisman get lost.
Now, standing here on this beach, the young man was gripped with a relatively new, yet already approaching familiar, urge: to throw the darned thing away. Some charm, to protect the least valuable member of the ship while the others were consigned to a watery grave.
Sweet Ben Haldis, old Alm, the brothers from the shipyard, Mark and Karn-and his grandfather.
It hadn't even saved his own blood.
Stooping, his fingers clutched blindly at the smooth rocks that littered the sand around him, tears streaking down his face as, with an ease borne of long practice, he skipped first one, then another, and another out across the bay. The fourth rock was more of a throw than a skip-the fifth didn't even try.
It sank with only the softest of plops to mark its sudden absence, this solitary record of its destruction utterly unmemorable. Blinking back tears, Kelby swayed, a soft keen rising in his throat, trapped behind teeth seemingly glued together. In the end, that little rock had as much of a chance as his grandfather had. Better, in fact-it hadn't left the beach of its own volition.
The keen became a howl as the young man lurched forward, blinded by renewed tears. Long fingers sprawled through the sand, desperate for some tiny feeling of stability. The pain turned to anger, the howl to a scream.
"Whywhywhywhy why!"
The last syllable hung in the mist, taunting, as the boy's shoulders shook, grief and rage consumed by silence. Shuddering gasps racked his lanky frame, even as he struggled to shove everything back into the box it had inhabited before.
Stupid, stupid, why had he come out here, he knew better than that he...
A low moan rose from over the gentle breakers, forlorn and miserable, and hung on air turned still. Kelby froze, eyes wide.
There, out in the middle of the waves, something was swimming, endlessly circling. Its head ducked, and once more the cry sounded over the waves, stirring the young man's trembling heartstrings. He knew that sound, despite not knowing its creator. It was one of the few, perhaps even the only, cries that came from anyone and anything, with no heed for what species uttered it.
It was the sound of grief.
═══
The rain was pouring down in sheets when Sasha heard the bell above the door chime, letting her know in its sweet little voice that someone else had come in. Bustling out from behind the counter, she tsk-ed when she saw Kelby standing on the mat, dripping.
"What were you thinking, boy? You trying to get sick?"
Snagging some blankets from the closet, she wrapped them around the young man's shoulders, shaking her head at him. Kelby shrugged, silent.
Sasha and her husband had taken Kelby in when he washed up on the shore three months ago, the sole survivor of the small fishing fleet that had tried to race the storm. He was a good worker, if a morose one.
"Sasha, I..."
The woman stopped, turning back. Poor Kelby looked so uncomfortable she couldn't help but smile. "Yes, Kel?"
"I, uh...I thought I heard something.
On the beach."
Sasha nodded slowly, the smile slipping.
"Yes, poor dear." Kelby blinked, startled at the tenderness in the innkeep's voice as she turned away.
"Seems some poor Elkrin's lost her family. She's all alone, and nobody can help her." Sasha sighed, straightening a picture on the wall. Stepping back, she blinked, slightly startled at the wet spreading down her face.
"Here this place used to let rooms out for riders-that stable back there held the glory of Elkrin. And now, now we can't do anything for the ones we have left."
Soaking wet arms wrapped around her waist as Kelby gave the woman a hug.
"It'll be okay, Sash. You'll see."
Patting his hand, Sasha chuckled, a quavering, watery noise.
"Oh I hope so, boy-o. I hope so."
Pulling away, Sasha headed back to her kitchen, gesturing for Kelby to take a seat and finish drying out next to the fire. Sitting down, Kelby's eyes were drawn to the window. He thought, just maybe, that he could make out a sound over the storm.
Or perhaps it was simply the echo of his own grief.
═══
The day dawned overcast and grey. The villagers whispered of ''the big one" finally on its way, glancing mistrustfully at the choppy waves that beat the shore. A few of the more optimistic ones suggested that the storms that had plagued them for the past few nights would have bled off some of the ferocity of this imminent threat. The more dour members of the village were quick to reassure that, if anything, those little storms had just made it worse.
Sitting on the half-submerged spar that was all that remained of the old fishing dock, Kelby sided with the naysayers. The last time he'd been optimistic about the weather, three ships had sunk; five lives lost to the deep. No, the storm wasn't going to be any more kindly towards humanity this time.
Another wave curled around his ankle, drawing the young man back to the present. Groaning, Kelby ran a hand through his hair, resting his chin on his palm. He ought to start back, before the rising tide covered the stepping stones entirely. As it was, he was looking at wading for at least a short portion of the trip. Sasha was going to kill him for showing up soaked again.
Sighing, Kelby pulled himself onto his feet, closing his eyes as the wind swirled around him. The sea, it seemed, was still trying that same old siren song.
A sharp cry stopped him, tearing at his heart. He spun, one foot slipping on the sea soaked wood. Instinct and reflex born of fishing kept him from falling all the way in the sea, but any hope of getting home with dry trousers was thoroughly wiped out. Shaking the hair out of his eyes, Kelby tightened his arms around the rough wood spar. And it was already starting to rain.
Just great.
He'd managed to make it halfway back onto the spar, using and fighting the growing swells in turn, when he heard the cry again.
This time, though, he saw her.
The doe tread water a few short feet from the edge of the bay shelf, calling to the ever growing waves. It looked like she was searching for something, someone.
The same vain searching he had done, in those endless days after the wreck.
Kelby had already started swimming towards her before he consciously registered the decision. The grief in the Elkrin's voice had decided it for him.
Seemed like the sea could take a few lessons on calling men.
Struggling through the waves, Kelby was forced to stop several times and orient himself, squinting through the rain as it picked up its pace, driving into his face.
There.
He caught sight of the doe, swimming back to shore, long tail trailing through the water behind her. Turning, Kelby made to do the same when a large wave crashed over his head, sending him under for a few short seconds. He rose, sputtering, blinking the salt from his eyes.
Getting out didn't seem like a bad idea, actually.
Striking out towards the shore, Kelby felt a sudden dread as the sea pulled at him. Another wave sent him under, and he had scarce surfaced when yet another crashed over his head. Sea water streamed from his nose as the young man fought to stay on the surface, praying he was still headed towards shore. The next wave that sent him down kept him there, smashing him into the rip currents that swirled around the rocks at the edge of the beach.
Struggling against the current, the sleek shape that passed beneath him was, to his oxygen deprived brain, a shark; there was simply nothing else it could be. So when he broke the surface, gasping, pure instinct was the only thing that kept him on the Elkrin's back.
Striking out towards the sand, he dug his fingers in her water-sleek fur, face buried against her neck as he clung tight, the sea's fingers itching to rip him from the majestic beast.
Hold on!
Breaking from the water, the doe galloped onto the sand, shaking the water from her coat. Kelby slid from her back, content to lie face down on the sand. A soft whuff called him to action, and he pulled himself to his knees, legs far to shaky to stand.
The Elkrin stood a few feet away, breathing heavily. Kelby gulped, voice stolen by the creatures majesty.
"Thank you."
Snorting, the Elkrin bobbed her head. For the first time since she had lost her family, she seemed at peace. Groaning, Kelby stood, stumbling back towards the village. No doubt Sasha was worried, what with the storm and...
Kelby paused, some vague notion pulling at his heart. He turned, eyes quick to find the Elkrin as, slowly, she walked down the beach.
"D'ya want to come with me?"
The Elkrin stopped short, and Kelby swallowed, nerves constricting his throat. "It's just, I know you don't have a family anymore, only I don't either, really, and you saved me, so...."
One hand trailed through his hair as the Elkrin turned, eyes bright.
I would be delighted, my rider.
Kelby felt the grin split his face, and knew he must look the fool, but he didn't care.
"Then I guess we best be going, uh...
Nereida. My name is Nereida.
═══
Stalking through the hall, Sasha grumbled a greeting to some of her customers as she turned the corner.
"You're making this a bad habit, boy-o. When you get sick don't come....."
The words died in Sasha's throat as she took in the bedraggled duo on her stoop. There was Kelby, alright, soaked to the bone and shivering. And behind him... Behind him, red eyes filled with grief and hope in near equal measure, was an Elkrin: the Elkrin.
The boy blinked at her as she stood there, silent, mouth opening and closing with nary a sound.
"Are the stalls in the stable still usable? It's just...Nereida needs someplace, and I didn't figure you'd want her in one of your beds, so...."
Turning her back on her ward and his Elkrin-his!-Sasha stumbled down the hall.
Leaning against the shelves, the innkeep pulled the blankets to her face, grinning like a fool.
"You'd of been proud of your Kelby, old man. Right proud.""
And the walls kept tumbling down
In the city that we love
Great clouds roll over the hills
Bringing darkness from above
Oh where do we begin?
The rubble or our sins?
How am I gonna be an optimist about this?
Name:
Nanami or Nami for short
The name Nanami means ''seven seas" in Japanese. Her parents chose this because their only daughter to them possessed all the beauty of the seven seas.
Breedable:
Yes, with her large caring heart Nami would be an amazing mother...
Short Story:
.:A Hurricane`s Blow:.
My throat screamed in pain as another moarnful cry tore from my throat. Tears gathered in my red eyes as I scanned the ocean, looking for the familiar bobbing heads of my family. I ran up the shore a bit crying for my family... for comfort. Tears shook me as I thought about that night, the last time I had seen my family.
____________________________________
The wind and rain ripped at my face as I gazed hopefully at the horizon for my family. Relax Nami the storm only just started and they promised to be back shortly.... A vast wave crashed around my feet causing me to flinch, partly for fear of my life, but also of my heard's.
Scanning the horizion I thought I seen my two brothers heads bobbing above the water and with out thinking I leap into the surf twords the objects. The waves made it near impossible to swim, but I was desparte.
:Form:
Name:
Quasar
{This name relates to a bright celestial body, normally star-like. I thought it suited her.}
Breedable:
Yes
Short Story:
I am not a sea person. I grew up in a tiny town that was nothing more than a dot in the foothills of Mt. Bastion. Meaning that I didn't even know what the ocean was until I visited it. I immeadiately disliked the roaring waves, their hungry pull and sucking noise against the sand. My friends said it was pretty, in a cold sort of way - I distrusted the grey water immensely. We were north of the tropical waters, so swimming was a no-go. I wasn't even in the mood to go walking along the shoreline trails, but the looks on my friends' faces guilted me into coming with them. When we climbed out of the vehicle, I shrugged into my hideous flourescent jacket (in case I got lost) and grumbled as I followed my friends down to the grey water. I was the only one without a 'significant other' along, because my other half had gone a trip a few days before. Needless to say, I was thoroughly put out.
:Form:
Note: This is my first time submitting a form for Elkrins.
These adoptables are outstandingly beautiful C:
Name:
Nerissa.
Latin for " Daughter of the Sea "
Breedable:
Yes.
Only for passionate stags who will protect her.
Short Story:
I grew up in a rather, gray, family. I have aways felt alone and had a low self esteem. Whenever it's warm my family takes me to the beach, where I spend hours swimming and relaxing in the soothing cool water. I admired swimming, it flushed all of my worries and problems away. I would always look out of window, hoping to see a crystal ocean glistening under the shimmering sun.
Despite my admiration of water, i've always felt dark and broken inside, like i had no one to talk to. My parents would never listen to me. I longed for someone to talk to, to share feelings, and feel like there is someone thinking about me. Sadly, it looked like that wouldn't happen. In school i was the only girl on the swings, while the others were in groups of friends. Even when they let me join them, they would use me; or find ways to get rid of me. My life just felt lonely and miserable.
Recently my father made us move to a small town due to business. It didn't have an impact on me, since there was no one to say goodbye to. My father rented a 2 story house right next to a deserted beach. My heart jumped, now I could swim as much as I could without having to travel. The weather was humid, yet windy. Whenever I came outside, I could smell the aroma of the sea, it felt so nice. It was a cloudy Saturday, my father went to work for special occasions, and my mother was sick; so she lied in bed for the whole day. There was nothing left to do for me, except to go the beach. This was my first time going to this deserted beach, there was no one there. My parents didn't care, so there was nothing i should worry about. I put on my swim suit and went out to the shore.
I stopped right before the cool water touched my feet. I sat down on the cold sand, and waited for some reason. My body felt a shudder, yet i couldn't move my body, as if it was an instinct. I stared at the calm dark waves, and took a deep breath. My body went back to normal. I turned my head to the right, where the cliffs and rocky shores were. I noticed something bright, yet i couldn't identify what it was because of my weak eyes. I heard a quiet and dim bellow from the mysterious, bright entity. Suddenly it started to run towards me. I felt a jolt of fear run through my spine and I stood up. The entity was fast, and large. The bellowing sounded louder, and sad. I quickly rubbed my eyes and noticed that it was only a few yards away from me.
The elegant, aquamarine entity let out a quick bellow as it neared me. I crouched down and the entity leaped over me. It was beautiful, i've never seen such creature before. I didn't feel scared anymore, i became suddenly warm and happy. The creature stopped and examined me. It's maroon eyes looked sad and in tears. It was breathing franticly, making a bellowing sound in it's throat; as if crying. I wanted to find out what made this elegant creature heart-broken. I cautiously made a small step, raising my hand. The creature's ears flicked to my motion. I quietly said in my breath, " Shhhhh, it's ok." The creature calmed down a little, and let me step forward. I let my palm touch the creatures forehead.
That was when my head felt a heavy pressure. Ignoring the pain, I ran my palm through the creatures cool leathery skin. The creature suddenly stepped forward towards me, it's head around my shoulder. It closed it's eyes and made purring sound. I kept petting it, feeling rather relaxed. The creature backed away and turn it's head towards the sea. That was when i understood what was wrong. It missed it's family. A tear dropped from the creatures red velvet eyes. I felt like i needed to be with this creature, to calm it and support it. Just like the way i wanted to be. The creature reminded me of myself. The creature turned it's head to me, as if waiting for me to do something. I opened my arms and embraced the lonely creature. I started to cry, but it wasn't me who was feeling sad. It was the creature, it shared it's feelings with me.
This was the day when i gained a friend, someone to look after and love. The creature no longer felt miserable. I decided to call it Nerissa, as if it was an offspring from the sea. Nerissa and I didn't feel lonely anymore, together we were complete.
Wow, she is gorgeous!
:Form:
Name:
Alie
Alie was one of the Nereids, 50 Greek sea nymphs daughters of Nereus. I choose her name 'cause it sounds very sweet to me and it means "of the sea"
Breedable:
Yes
Short Story:
Introduction
I've always loved the sea view. It's so wide, and so fascinating. I really enjoy its sparkling surface, the waves sound, the white foam on the shore in a sunny day. But I love even more its dark side: the black water matching a gray sky, lightening reflecting over it, the contrasting pure white surfs on the top of great breakers, a the wind that smacks you with cold salty drops... that thrills me to the heart, it's fearsome, but I can't leave it. I feel all the frailty and the beauty of my life.
First Meeting
That day I went out to the seaside as I often do. The sky was rumbling above me. My hair was mess up by the wind and static electricity was stinging my skin – a great storm was coming.
I climbed up to a sand hill top and the sea showed me all of its beauty. I stayed, looking at it, feeling its power revealing, not hidden as it usually is.
Suddenly, I heard a high-pitched crying. Looking for its source, I saw something that scared me more that the angry sea: a young Elkrin doe was running in the low water towards the offshore.
I looked at her horrified for a moment, then I ran down the hill, but the water was just to her hips.
“Stop! Stop you, please! What are you doing? It's too dangerous!” I screamed. She turned her head to me and cried again loudly. Then she settled to the offshore again and restarted walking.
“No!” I cried, entering into the ice-cold water. When I reached her, we were just both swimming.
I hung on her neck. “Please, come back!” I shouted to be heard in the storm blast. She cried again and kept swimming to the offshore. I tried to bring her back, I swear, but she was too strong for me. I finally decided to leave her and set back to the beach. I was further from the beach than I thought, but I tried to swim back somehow, just to discover that the current was strong and I was too tired to contrast it. The water was so cold I had lost the feeling in my fingers. I started feeling sleepy... I woke up on the sand, the sun shining on my face, the waves gently murmuring near me.
A sad story
The storm was over, and I was safe on the beach. There were many Elkrin's footprints and a large trace as if something had been laying next to me. I was still soaked, and I became to feel cold, so I went looking for help in a nearby village. They welcomed me, giving me dry clothes, a warm soup and letting me rest next to the fire. They asked me what it had happened and I told them everything. When I talked about the Elkrin, they looked each others, as if they knew who I was talking about. Later, I was asked to go to the village soothsayer, an old, almost blind man. He asked me to repeat my story, and I did it.
“You have a pure heart, youngster. That's why you're here. Destiny bring you here to save a poor, suffering creature. That doe is alone. She lost her family a few months ago. We don't know what happened to them, they went out together to the offshore to collect food, but she's the only one who come back. She's looking for her family since then, and we fear she'll get lost, or worst, if she doesn't stop. You almost gave your life to save hers, and she saved you when you were in danger. She chose you as her rider, and you're now linked for your lives.” he said.
“I can't be her rider. I do not deserve it. And she left me, so she doesn't want me.” I replied. “You still have to conquer her trust” he said “It's your choice to accept your destiny or not, but if you refuse it you'll condemn her to be alone and she'll die.”
Destiny?
I couldn't sleep that night. I didn't feel to be the right person to such honor – ME, an Elkrin rider? – but I was tormented by the soothsayer's words.
In the silent night, I heard a cry. It was lacerating my heart and calling me at the same time. I resisted for a while, then I woke up, exit the village and reached the sea. Under the moonlight it was gorgeous. Black, dark blue and silver, it finally gave rest to my soul.
I saw the doe running by the shore. She was periodically calling to the sea, as she was waiting for an answer. I had never see anything so sad.
I walked through her, but when she saw me, she stopped and refused to approach or to let me go near her. I sat down on the sand, looking to the sea and just stayed there, silent. She looked at me for a while, then she started running and calling again, always paying attention to not come nearer to me.
I got up at sunrise and went back to the village. No one asked me where I had been, as if they knew everything...
A new family
I returned to the beach the following night, and the next one, and again for a week. Every night, doesn't mind if it was raining or clear, she was there, calling her family. And every night I sat down in the same point, she looked at me and continued calling, but every night she came a little nearer. For a week, I spent my nights silently, looking at the sea and hearing her cry.
Finally, once she stopped her calling and laid down, just two steps away from me.
“You know, I've lost my family too.” I said.
“I'm only child and my dad died when I was three. I don't even remember him. I remember mom, instead. She raised me alone, but she had never let me miss anything. A disease took her last year” I looked at her “I miss her, you know?”
She was looking at the sea. Maybe she was not even listening to me.
“I don't know why I'm telling you that. I don't even know if you understand me. But I see why you're here: you want everything back as it was with your family, don't you? Your life was just perfect. And you can't understand why they all left you.” silence. “I come here when I'm sad. The sea is so wide my problems just disappear. Does it calm your heart too?”
I talked to her all the night. When I went back to the village, I was sure I would see her again next evening, but I waited for her in vain. When she didn't came the following night, I began worrying. “If she doesn't come, I'll look for her” I thought quitting the village. I felt filled with joy seeing her by the sea, and almost ran to her. But I controlled myself and walked slowly to my place as usual and she laid next to me.
“I was worried” I said.
“I know” she answered
I almost had an heart attack!
“You can speak!” I exclaimed
“Of course I do” she answered sweetly. I could hardly distinguish her voice from the wave sound. “I'm Alie”
“A-Alie?” I asked shocked “Oh, yes, Alie! Ahemm... I'm Kirya!”
“Nice to meet you” she smiled. “Why did you enter the water during the storm?” she asked after a little silence.
“Why... to save you.” I answered, understanding how it sounded silly while saying that.
“But you didn't know me. And you could die”
“I didn't thought about that” I admitted. “I did something stupid”
She looked to my eyes with her red, deep ones. “No, you did something selfless.”
I didn't know how to answer her.
“You know, I feel so lonely here. You're true: my life was perfect with my family. But our beach is so empty now. I'm missing my two little brothers too. And I've never suffered those little pests.” she said with a tear dropping through her cheek. “I feel lonely, Kirya. I need a family, but you're the first person who just accept my sorrow, without try to ignore or wipe out it. I don't want to forget them. Would you be my family?” she asked.
I smiled. “I would be glad.” I answered.
When we entered the village together, the old soothsayer smiled.
:Form:
Name:
Avanna
Breedable:
Yes
Short Story:
A mournful wail echoed across the land sending shivers down the young woman's spine as she listened. "Please, whatever you are, let me help you!" she begged as a tear slipped from the clutches of her left eye. The wail rang out again and she clutched at her head trying to block out the noise "STOP IT PLEASE" she screamed and sank to her knees. Her shoulders wracked with sobs as she cried for whatever could make such a noise.
The dark creature frowned down at the slumbering woman whose face was twisted in pain and in sorrow. He chose not to wake her but merely worked his way underneath the arm closest to him in order to press his warm body against her side. She calmed slightly but the pained expression did not leave her face.
He silently kept watch over her throughout the night and only mere moments before waking did she completely relax. Laying his head down he shut his silvery eyes and slipped off to dreamland. She would be alright by herself for a while.
The worgen yawned and ran a hand through her tangled blonde hair. That scream was still echoing inside her mind and she pressed a hand to her forehead as her vision darkened slightly due to standing too quickly. After quickly freshening up and changing into decent clothes the young worgen pressed a tender kiss to her sleeping companions head and left the hotel.
"I wonder. Does she understand they are gone? Or is she crying for them in hopes they will return for her?" a snippet of conversation floated into my ears and I stopped for a moment. Who was this she they were referring to? "The Seaside Doe. Poor thing seems so sad"
"Seaside Doe? Hmmmm" I thought to myself and headed through the quiet cobbled streets in search of the beach. I neatly hopped onto the sand landing neatly and barely making a sound. The ocean was restless today which made me uneasy the ocean being restless was never good. A flash of blue caught my eye and I cast my gaze about the surroundings I could see nothing yet felt like I was being watched
