Solar Flowers

This female Elkrin is one of the few non-magic type. They do however have beautiful coats. Something special about this type is that while it may bond with a rider it doesn't mind others riding it and are regularly used to assist healers in transporting patients to wherever they need to go. This particular Doe has a a gorgeous Solar Flower pattern on her coat. In Eldemore, Solar Flowers only bloom on the longest day of the year at the highest point of the day. They are said to produce great healing properties. This female may be very adapt at finding this flower. Only time will tell.

Solros is sunflower in Swedish. For some reason she just reminds me of sunflowers, so I thought this name would fit her nicely.

It was a while since Hikaru saw any villages in her travels but there was one now in the distance, located on a landscape of verdant rolling hills. A brown and golden rune dragon chirped cheerfully at the brunette. Next to the golden-brown dragon was a rune that appeared to resemble sushi. The sun-pepper doe walked dutifully beside her rider, her purple-gray shade uniquely dotted seemed to contrast with her surroundings. The second dragon remained quiet, staring at the fairly small village in the distance.

Hikaru smiles warmly and says to her three companions “Let’s go check out the village, maybe we’ll be able to trade off medicine for supplies. We are kind of running low.”

Demeter the golden brown dragon chirped out in agreement, clearly happy with the idea. Solros the doe raised her steps higher in a peppier attitude at the idea. Next to Demeter the sushi dragon looked skeptical about the village but regardless he nods, agreeing with Hikaru’s idea.

After all, the four were on a small mission with a large purpose, to help the ill of Eldemore and sometimes trade medication for supplies as payment rather than gold. It may seem like an impossible dream to most but Hikaru had high hopes that she would manage it. Besides she had Demeter and Nare to back her up if she ever got into trouble along the way and with her devoted mount she could help and carry people wherever needed. Her dream seemed so close that she could almost grab its hands.

The quartet made their way into the village grounds, a few children ran by giggling. Everything looked normal so far until Nare nudged Hikaru’s shoulder to gain her attention.

“Hmm? What’s wrong Nare?” Hikaru asks, looking over at the dragon.

Nare grunts and points a wing towards an elderly woman knelt down in a grassy patch by a large house. Her hands rummaged through the patch in search for something, but she became distracted as she noticed the cleric and her band. Her attention was caught at the sight of the elkrin and beckoned the four over to her.


Once they reach the old lady she produces a warm smile and urges them to follow her into the largest house of the village. Once they were all inside the woman gently shut the door and noticing the herbs poking out from a satchel hanging off the girl she then asked the quartet a desperate question, “Are you perhaps a healer? Please, tell me if you are!”

Hikaru feeling a little worried for the old women tells her “Aaah…yes. I am a healer, but I’m still in training. My name is Hikaru.”

The old woman gives Hikaru a grateful smile and ushers Hikaru and her dragons inside while the doe followed curiously into the house with faded blue wallpaper and unique yellow flowers printed on it. Solros intently stared at the printed flowers before glancing at her own pelt. Looking at the wallpaper carefully Hikaru had recognized the flowers faintly but then lost her train of thought as the women’s voice interrupted her.

The old woman was now standing by a brown wooden door “My husband, the village chief is now bedridden in this room…Could you please…try to aid him?”

Hikaru nods and in an effort to comfort the elderly woman she tells her “I’ll do my best.” Demeter gives the lady a quick smile as the rest of the four followed Hikaru into the room.

The old man vacantly stares at Hikaru, his skin appeared deathly pale. Dark bags hung from under his eyes and his breaths sounded shallow, almost forced. Even an untrained eye could see the man was suffering.

“Hello, I’ll be trying to cure you, so please bear with me.” For several minutes she checks the man’s joints and body before interrogating his wife for symptoms. After listening for a while she nodded her head triumphantly when she knew what to do.

She digs through her bag, taking out a few herbs then sets up the cutting board and letting Naru cut up the ingredients. In the meantime Hikaru takes out a miniature-burner and lights it aflame, a pouch of water, and a small kettle. She sets the kettle on the stove and pours half the water from the pouch into the kettle.

Nare nudges the now cut up herbs towards Hikaru. She smiles and tells him a few words of gratitude before putting the herbs into the water and then turns on the stove and then waits. The herbal tea she was making won’t cure him but it was enough to ease his pain and regain energy.

While the tea brewed Hikaru asked the elder, “Is there anything else you need?”

The man smiles weakly at her and starts telling her about his childhood, about the beautiful solar flowers that used to fill the village grounds. He looked deeply saddened as he mentioned how people from outside the village came and harvested all the flowers due to their great healing properties for easy cash.

The kettle started to steam and whistle at the end of the man’s tale. Hikaru takes out a cup and blows the flame out, she then puts on a mitten and pours the tea from the kettle into the cup. Demeter helped put the items away, storing the rest of the tea in an empty pouch and left it on a table for the old man to have later on. Hikaru hands the man the tea and tells him, “Here drink this…and I’ll make your dream to see the solar flowers again come true!”

The man carefully takes the cup and blows lightly before sipping his tea. But before Hikaru could leave for the man’s request, he calls out to her “Wait! Could you take me along? Please…I wish to see them one last time.”

Hikaru looked at the man worried, debating if he was stable enough for the journey. Solros on the other hand bleated merrily at the sound of helping the elder. Kneeling down at his bed for him to mount her, feebly the man sat on her back and gently wrapped his arms around her throat as they all went outside. “I can’t wait to see those beautiful solar flowers again...they should be blooming today,” he whispered to himself.


The reoccurring mentions of the solar flowers seemed to spark the doe’s interest; bleating in similarity to a cry of determination, Solros sniffs the air and the ground before picking a direction.

For most of the afternoon Demeter, Nare, and Hikaru wandered the hills surrounding the village a bit more distant from the doe to cover more ground. All they knew though was from the old man’s story, which was that the flowers were the color of the sun and grew only at sunniest areas of the land. Also that they only bloomed on the longest day of the year during the highest point of the day. Conveniently today was that day.

Hikaru sighed as she wiped the sweat off her brow with the idea of quitting in her mind. Just when she was about to quit and head back, the doe that was following her had suddenly stopped. Solros sniffed the ground and then started speeding up ahead of her rider, Hikaru shouts out “Hey wait!” as she jogs to catch up to the doe. The elkrin headed into some random direction where the trees grew thick oddly enough but soon they reached the center of the hill. The doe began to lie out in the clearing enjoying the large warms rays of the sun, Hikaru gasps as she saw rows of golden flowers in bloom.

Demeter and Nare who had to fly to catch up to the three soon landed near Hikaru, staring at the flowers in awe. Hikaru smiles and asks the elder who had tears of joy in his eyes, “Could these be the solar flowers from your childhood?”

The man smiles and nods, wiping his cheeks before climbing off the doe’s back, he approached the flowers and gently touches their petals.

“Thank you so much, this means so much to me...I thought they were gone forever...” said the man dreamily.

Hikaru smiled and replied back with a cheerful tone “We can use a few of these flowers to cure you too! I bet your wife will be so pleased.”

Hikaru then looks over at the doe that appeared to be swelling with pride, now petting the doe’s head and compliments Solros’s deed “I think we should all be thanking you, since you found these flowers.”

Later after creating a several dose cure for the man, the village tried to give her gifts in thanks, but she refused and was happy enough with five Solar flowers to keep for future medication for others. When she left her village with her runes perched on her shoulder and her doe by her side, she was now inches away from her dream.

Poppy Sol

There is meaning behind her name. Sol is latin for sun, as she is a sun pepper doe. Her coat reminds me of poppy seeds, so that is where her first name comes from. She prefers to be called Poppy.

Breedable:

Yes, but I think I might only use one of her slots. She is very focused on her job as a healer, and doesn't really have time for a fawn. So, only with my other Elkrin, Ryoko.

Bearer Information:

Kara is afew years younger than Luz, she is 19. She lives in an uncharted forest with Poppy, studying the plants and natrual objects for healing power. She is small, only around 5'5''. She wears a grey blouse with leather pants, and a gold hooded cape (Luz wears a green one). She has red/brown hair that is curled into loose little spirals. Her nose is sharp and pointed,and she has vivid blue eyes. She has really formed a bond with Mizu,so Luz has let Mizu bunk with her. Mizu has also created a bond with Poppy, both valuing the beauty and peace in nature. Kara also has a mixed bloodline, except her bloodline is Dire Warden mixed with Elkrin Rider, so she may also speak with Elkrins and Dire Wolves. For this abiltiy to be triggered, though, the person must have a near-death experiance. Her near-death experience was falling off of a cliff, nearly drowning, then being rescued by a herd of Seaside Elkrin. Ever since she has dedicated her life to helping the endangered magical species of Eldamore.

It was foolish of me to travel through the forest during the flood. The grownd was soft and muddy, and half of the forest was drowned in one foot of water. Ryoko trudged on, stumbling on his limp through the thick mud. Mizu was having a ball, swimming in the puddles like a duck. He let out pleasant little squeaks, and looked up at me. I smiled irritatedly, then got back to pioleting Ry. I looked down at Celeste, who was walking through the mud with Daydream sleeping on her back, not a sploch of mud on her fluffy coat. I giggled, then looked at the muddy pathway. There seemed to be no sign of civilization for miles. If the rain picked up, I would be in serious trouble. Suddenly, Ry started to stumble, so I looked down at his limp. The cut where the dire wolf had bitten him was torn open, and blood was oozing out of it. I didnd't know how it had happened, but somehow the cut must have been opened, maybe by a tree branch or something. "Ry, are you Ok?" I asked him.
"Urgh, my shoulder hurts a lot, I scraped it on a tree branch, but I'll be able to keep walking."
"Ok, I'll take your word for it." I knew he wasn't going to be Ok if he kept traveling, but it's best not to challenge a stag's word. Soon enough we would find a cave, and there I could put some bandages on his shoulder.
It had been over two hours, and the rain hadn't let up. We were still in the forest, and we still hadn't found any form of shelter. The mud had grown thicker and slipperier, and soon it would be impossible to travel. Ry's shoulder was still bleeding, and his entire left leg was now stained a rusty red. Maybe we could set up camp on a rocky ledge, I had seen a lot of those in the past few minuets. The next one I'd come to, I will set up a tent, and bandage Ry up. But that might not be possible. I could see that Ry was becoming weak from loss of blood, and I didnd't know how much longer he could travel without passing out. His hoof dragged in the mud, splashing it on Celeste and Daydream. Mizu was still swimming in the many puddles, getting very dirty as he did. Suddenly, Ry's hoof got caught under a tree root, and he stumbled and fell, dragging me along with him. The mud splashed around me, covering my face and clothes in a sticky brown coating. I looked over at Ry, whose eyelids were begining to shut. "Ry, are you Ok?" I asked nervously.
"I...I can't feel my leg..." Then, his eyelids closed, and his body went limp.
"Ry? Ryoko? Ry?!?" I shook his head, but he didn't wake up. I felt his chest, and his heart was still beating. Good. But I would need a miracle to keep him alive. I started to sob, and I sobbed for what seemed like for ages. But eventually my own body fell into exhaustion, and I collapsed. But the last thing I saw before I faded into darkness was two sets of glowing eyes emerging from the thicket of the forest...
I woke up, and I was on a cozy little cot. A fire blazed in a fireplace, and rain battered the window of the log cabin I was apperently in. I sat up, and a searing pain shot through my head. "Ow!" I exclaimed, but then I remembered. Ry! Was he still out in the forest, slowly bleeding his life away? Or was he here two, resting comfortably in a cozy nest of his own.
"Oh good! You're awake!" I saw a shadowy figure walking toward my cot, carrying what seemed to be herbal tea. "I was afraid you were lost." As she came nearer, I could see she was wearing a golden hood, one with the same family crest as mine on the top of it. She pulled back the hood to reveal her face, and I couldn't believe who it was.
"Kara?"
"Yes, that's me. Luz?"
"Yeah. I didn't know you were still alive. Ever since you never responded to anyone, we all thought you were dead! Oh, I have to go tell our family! They will be delighted to know you're safe!"
"I'd prefer you'd not. They would not be happy with the path I have chosen to take."
"Huh?"
"I am a healer, Luz. I live here in the forest of secrets with my Elkrin, Poppy." Another figure emerged from the shadows, and I was surprised to see a young Sun Pepper doe with a mouthful of herbs standing next to Kara.
"Welcome to out home, Luz." The doe dropped the herbs at my feet. "Eat these. They will help bring you out of shock." I chewed the herbs, then spit them out in a little wooden bowl at my bedside.
"Where's Ryoko?"
"Oh, he's off in the barn. He had quite an amount of blood loss, but we were able to restore him back to health. Thank Poppy, she was the one who knew what herbs to give him." I looked gratefully at Poppy, and she smiled.
"Well, then we must get back to traveling."
"Oh, you can't leave yet. You are far too weak, and the rain needs to let up first. Please, just stay overnight." I looked around, and saw that the cabin was much bigger than I thought. It had a second story, a kitchen, a healing room (Where I was now) and a living area.
"Actually...I've been looking for a place to settle down, would you mind if we built a house like this in this area?"
"Nonsense, you can stay with us. We have plenty of room."
"Alright. We'll stay with you." And that is how my new life began. With a muddy storm.
