Ancient Irish War Ponies are a very rare breed of horse found in Ireland. Their origin is really unknown but earliest signs show them being used during the 13th century. Even though the breed name suggests these horses were used in battle researches believe that Ancient Irish War Ponies were thought to be used for farming and traveling instead of war. Ancient Irish War Ponies are very similar in build to a Connemara Pony and many believe that they may have even descended from this horse breed. They are hardy build with a strong back and legs. They are horses built for stamina not speed. Visually what really sets them apart from the Connemara Pony is the long feathering that they have on their fetlock. They stand from about 12 hh- 14hh and come in any shade of color natural to horses.

Breed Over View;

Ancient Irish Was Ponies are very sturdy hard working ponies. The breed overall has a pretty easy temperament but are known to be stubborn from time to time. They are for the most part brave horses that don't really shy much though. They are good horses for both beginners and experienced riders. Other names for Ancient Irish Was Ponies are Irish Wagon Ponies, Beer Ponies, or Clog Ponies.

Conformation Traits;
- short sturdy, slight swayed back
-muscular legs
- thick necks
- deep chest
- medium length feathering

Coat Colors & Patterns
- Solids, dapples, and pintos are common
- Appaloosas and pintaloosas are very rare
- Brindling and other mutations are known in the breed
- Chestnuts,any shade of bay, grays, blacks, roans, and grullos are the most common colors
- Cream and Pearl gene colors are uncommon but seen
- Duns, except Grullos, are considered rare
- Chimerics or mosaics are extremely rare.

- AIWPs are sometimes called Irish Wagon Ponies and Beer Ponies because a lot of times they were used to pull wagons, especially wagons with barrels of beer.
- Are not a gaited breed
- Were used around the 1840s in the mines to pull wagons
- They lack speed but make up for it with stamina like a quarter horse
- Are called Ancient Irish War Ponies because researchers believe that even though they weren't used in battle ancient warriors/knights would use them to travel hence mistaking them as war ponies because of their owners.
- Are thought to originally stand around 11-12 hh but like many horse breeds they were probably bred with other causing them to get taller. Not a proven fact though. No a days they stand between 12hh-14hh.

- Each pony can only breed 10 times, 2 a month
- Ponies have one foal at a time and can only be bred naturally at the moment
- No matter the competition you will not win if your forum is incorrect
- Please know correct horse height before you apply for a AIPW
- No complaining or being rude
- Adopt pony will have small Irish flag on page
-If you are banned I have the right to take back ponies and re-home them
