I HAVE A QUESTION!TYPE OF QUESTION:Philosophy
YOUR QUESTION:We're studying the idea of free will, and two of the authors whose works we read last week were Chisholm and Holbach. When taking the quiz, there were two particularly difficult questions that are still giving me trouble even after doing outside research. I tried e-mailing my professor but she didn't respond c':
Here they are: [
one] [
two]
I understand the general idea of what each author believes. Chisholm believes that saying "he could have done otherwise" is not equivalent to saying "if he had chosen to do otherwise, then he would have done otherwise," because to him, there may be instances in which someone has no other choice but to act a certain way, but if they did have a choice, then they would have acted differently.
To Holbach, we are always governed by the laws of nature, and nothing we do is truly an exertion of free will, but rather just as adjusting our actions based on the motive that is strongest to us.
I would appreciate any help in understand the two aforementioned quiz questions <3

You might nit be able to access the textbook without being a part of the site or soemthing so instead here's a screenshot of one of my homework problems as an example!
https://sta.sh/0191cpxjxtfb I just realized, the example I used is one of the ones I already solved, but even though I solved it I still don't quite get it so I think the example is still useful since it helps explain what I'm talking about haha sorry I'm in college so I know not everyone is at a level in math to help me

I just now got around to checking those links and thanks so much! I hadn't thought to check YouTube at all, but I think I'm starting to get it more after watching the first YouTube link, lol I started dying when the guy came out all enthusiastic XD I wish my professor was more enthusiastic, he's nice and all but I get bored haha. *screeching internally* yessssss I finally got the one I was stuck on right! (It tells you if you are right or wrong when you submit an answer and you can submit again till it's right)

It's almost exactly like regular long division, except you have to add the decimal point. It goes directly above the decimal point in the number you're using.
I'm attaching an example file, PM me if you need more help. <3
