I'm not crying yet, but I know that as soon as I lay down to sleep, I will.
I don't know how I feel.
I just want a hug.
*hugs* I'm sorry friend. Thats always so hard. Crying is okay. I'm so sorry.

KabukiKinz wrote:So stressed out. I went upstairs and saw all of the bedding in my hamster cage was RED? I was freaking out. It turns out that the whole entire water bottled spilled, so it turned out the red was from a little bridge we built from popsicle sticks that were red and orange. Very quickly I grabbed a garbage bag and a dust pan and scooped all of the wet bedding out. I put new bedding in, and this all took so long. Now I'm worrying about them because they won't have any water tonight. I gave them a bunch of pieces of Ice-berg lettuce because I know it is high in water. I hope it keeps them hydrated, because we can't get them a new water bottle until tomorrow because the pet store is far away and it's late. Any suggestions?
Iceberg lettuce isn't good for hamsters. Normal lettuce in small amounts is okay but iceberg lettuce can lead to future problems and diarrhea. Please do not give them any more in my opinion. Hamsters are cave animals, so depending on what hamster you have, using a bowl around the size of a food dish with water should be just fine if not better. I own a Syrian hamster and she uses a bowl of water instead of a bottle, its a bit more work but its fine. I'm no hamster expert myself but I'm confused on why theres a popsicle stick bridge there in the first place? If your hamster is one to chew or the breed is known for it, wood like popsicle sticks isn't a good idea personally, as they could chew the popsicle stick and get a splinter in their throat. Anyway, no iceberg lettuce, they should be fine, hope this helps. I'm open if you'd like to talk more about hamsters and such too, shoot me a pm.

i've been having some trouble. there's
this guy at my school... my crush's
best friend. he's a jerk. he jokes about
very sensitive topics all the time. he's
told people things that i'm on the fence
about if i could mention here. he thinks
its funny. he knows that i have a mental
disorder (i think he knows at least) and
finds it funny to make fun of me and insult
me outwardly in front of everyone. he's
acknowledged that it bothers us and its
made someone else very upset, but he thinks
THAT'S funny. my crush is a different person
around him and that hurts me because
i've known my crush since we were in kindergarten
and he's a nice guy and a huge dork, but
his best friend changes him.
any advice for how i should tell my crush
that his buddy is seriously causing me
emotional damage? he's gotten in a verbal
fight with his friend over him being mean to
me before.
/ under construction.

Just say it. Say it however you want as long as you're not like 'Yo buddy your friend is a bag of craptatos'. Just try to be polite, even if you refer to them as a 'jerk' in the sentence.
That's all I gotta say.

I've had around 4 hamsters in the past, fed them ALL iceberg lettuce and they all lived 3-4 years. Pretty long for a hamster, so in my opinion it's fine. (Sorry little annoyed, it's not you.) And the popsicle stick thing I gave to them almost 2 years ago, it's been fine up till now. I'm going to give them a little bowl with a little water. The popsicle thing isn't really a bridge, they are small dwarfs, so I made it for them to stand on. The popsicle sticks I used were big, meant for kids, and extremely hard to brake. (I couldn't brake them if I tried 0_0)
nONONONO!!!!
dont feed them iceberg lettuce its sOOOO UNHEALTHY FOR THEM PLEASE
even if you fed the hamsters iceberg lettuce previously its never good to take chances with a pet!!!
this girl i knew kept feeding her hamsters and rabbits with lettuce a lot all her pets both died or had fatal with liver damage and diarrhea!!
if you fed your hamsters iceberg lettuce only a couple of times that might be why they haven't died, but pLEASE dont feed them anymore lettuce!!!

Also just because feeding those things to your pet didn't cause them to die immediately, it doesn't change the fact that it's bad for them and likely to have caused discomfort for them anyway (and maybe even had contributed to their death without you knowing).
And it does not mean that it can't be deadly for others.
It really is better to be safe than sorry. I'm sure small doses of it wouldn't have been that bad, but please find something else to give them as soon as possible. It's always best and safest to do a bit of research to see what sort of things are good and bad for your pets.
