Sorry for not posting in a while, guys. I've been watching the thread for a while but I've never had the urge to say something, probably because I'm a spam-o-phobic (well, sort of. I can spam if I'm talking to my RL friends on here. I can spam like that forever... So I'll just control the spam I might do)
Isn't it funny how those sentences were spam? [/endspam]

So. I'd love someone to read my prologue and first few chapters of the book I'm writing. I don't have writer's block, but I just haven't had a good sentence to move on the story. I think I'm stuck in some mud, though. There's been a lot of empty dialogue and boring paragraphs.

Hehe i think the odd bit of spam wouldn't do anyone any harm... as long as there was some writing - esk thing associated with the rest of the post? :3 [/spam]

And Me! Me! Me! Pick Me! I wanna read!! :3 i <3 reading other peoples work! it usually inspires me :3 I'll give critique as well if you want ^_^ Feel free to PM it to me, or (if it's easier) i'll PM my email to you or something :)

I'll go ahead and PM you the prologue now.

And as for on-topic, I just can't seem to find good muse lately; but for some reason I'm starting to have a lot of ideas on fanfiction; but as I've found out, people don't really like fanfiction... Dx
Still, it's good practice for actual writing; it just takes the character development aspect out of everything, which is not one of my strengths, so I guess I write better fanfiction than stories? xD

That would be great, but shouldn't they at least copy or link to their old forms? Or re-fill it out (Even if its edited somewhat) Because otherwise you won't have info like if they wanted writing partners or their goals or what kind of books they like to write about. If its just,
"I was a member."
It would be like... well if we didn't have forms at all and people just posted
"Hi. I'm joining." And thats all the information you got out of their post.
I don't know, maybe I'm over-thinking things again XD But I really like the Writing Partner page and the list of peoples names and goals; it was interesting to read and gave you insight on your fellow member's ambitions. ^.^

Oh sweet! you're one of those awesome people that know english as a second language! X3 It always amazes me how well you guys can type/speak english ¬.¬ *I'm a nerd. I play too many online computer games X3*
But yeah! "putted" is actually the past tense of "putt", which is a term in golf i beleive? X3 The correct grammar would be "i put in my contacts" - If you want i can read over your chapters you posted and correct any incorrect grammar? :)

Thank you C: (BTW, what do computer games have to do with speaking English? You're english, right?)
No, I didn't really mean the lenses to play golf in her eyes... Really want to do that? That would be awesome! You don't have to, if you don't want to, right? I don't want to force you... Or something C:

There is nothing wrong with fan-fiction. One of my longer stories started out as a fan-fiction, and then magically took on a life of its own! There's hardly any resemblance to the original works now :D! The advice i'd like to give to you is - Don't worry what other people think, and don't worry about the audience. Write what you want to write, because you love to write it. If it's good enough - people will read it, no matter what the target audience is! (Look at Harry Potter - everyone old and young has read it, though its "target" audience is meant to be kids (for the first few books anyway))
It's very hard to keep a fan-fiction character canon, i've seen some horrendous fan-fic's that ... just.. *shudder* i feel bad for the poor characters!! There's nothing wrong with taking a character as the base of your character and then modifying him to suit your needs. There's also nothing wrong with taking a world that's already been created and using it for your own benefit! Most of my characters are based (loosely) on people i know in person :D And some of their more.. defining characteristics have kept with the characters as they develop. The only way you'll be able to develop a good, rounded character is by writing about them :D!

Yeah - to be honest, I don't see a problem with re-filling out the old form.. well.. perhaps a slightly modified version of the old form (mainly getting rid of the "role" part XC i don't think anyone understood that... ever.. XD) The form doesn't take long to fill out, and it's not really difficult. Anyone that actually enjoys being a part of this thread shouldn't mind either i don't think? And I also liked the idea of the goals and writing partners (especially if people wanted to find a partner)

I was talking mainly of games like World of Warcraft and Runescape (where you talk to other real people.. MMORPG-type things) There are a lot of people from the netherlands on there!! And they all speak amazing english, it amazes me! And I'm english/american.. English-chick living in California :3 go figure!

I'd love to do that!! I just did a critique for Chef Kitty and i'm feeling like i wanna do more!! RAWR! And if it would help with your english and everything that would be a bonus, right? :) Just PM me what you want me to critique, and i'll begin working on it!!

This may sound weird, but I actually enjoyed looking at the mistakes you found. I was like "Hey! That's right! I'll change it to 'something or other!' "
I think I'll go edit chapter three start a new story! It's coming along pretty well, I think. ^^

My god. Must... get... writing done...
It really helps once you're momentarily drained on inspiration, but can't be bothered to get some more. Come back, muse!

Hmm.
I had a new idea.
Is this too unoriginal?
So, it's about a teenage girl who's immortal.
Every time she is killed by either age/sickness/physical harm, she'll stay alive.
But across Earth, other people will die in her place.
For example, if someone stabs her through the chest, another teenager will die; basically it's like they're absorbing all the harm that comes to her.
As she ages into the thousands, she 'dies' every few years.
More people die for her now, because her heart isn't so young and needs to be propped up by more than one.
The plot is still rough, but I thought I would ask what the rest of you thought of it before continuing.
They say, "Why can't fellows be allowed to do what they like when they like and as they like, instead of other fellows sitting on banks and watching them all the time and making remarks and poetry and things about them?"

Sounds original, and intriguing, though I think the whole teenager thing is a bit overdone. Of course, if this is a Teen Lit piece, than the whole teenager thing works. I'd like to see what you do with this idea.
SMILE!

What will we call you: Just call me Kitty :3
What are your goals as an author? I would love to get a book published, like that's my dream, to be known... Also, I would love to actually finish a book that I'm just writing for the heck of it and not let it die like most of my stories. I wouldn't also mind writing a story with someone..
Can you give us a sample of your writing? I really don't want to, because I don't want people to steal but here,
Code: Select all
The petite silhouette of a porcelain ballerina casts an irregular shadow on the floor as she twirls, revealing small clouds that happened to be floating through the air.  A soft melodic tune comes from the small stage the young dancer frolics on, one of the only in the quite room.  In a dark corner, a girl sits, her wavy auburn hair matted to her tear streaked face, twiddles with a small item in her hand.  Abruptly, she pulls the small toy to the side of her head.  The soft melodic tune is broken by the artificial bang created by the toy, a small gun she had been playing with.  Without the success of what a real gun would have done, the girl collapses to the floor.  Another wave of tears hits her, her body convulsing as the endless flow of salty crystals falls from her eyes.

Are you currently working on any books? I am
Why do you want to join? I hate writers block, which I have had alot latley, and I love to write with other people, so hey, why not?
Do you have published books yet? I'm looking into it
Do you wish to find a "writing partner"? Not at the moment, but maybe in the future
What Role(s): I'm writing a novel right now, I'm a poet, and I write stories.. So, you tell me
What's your favorite Genre? I'll read like, everything.. Fantasy and stories about 'Finding yourself/way' appeal to me mostly
What kind of books do you write?Depressing stories, ie; Someone close to the main character dies, trying to cope. Fantasy stories, Faries, elves, witches, etc.
Like we did when we were young
