I think our mascot should be story charecters! Like Dustfinger!

Or, we could come up with our OWN deity! Like the God/Goddess of Writing or Books XD

I really like the idea of an ancient deity ^_^ But that's just my opinion~
With you, Heaven is a place on earth, and I will take you there.

So many distractions, I can't seem to write right now. I have a great new idea for a book that I've been brewing in my head for a few weeks now, and I have just decided to write it now, and of course there are too many distractions in the room for me to concentrate.

MBRShorse wrote:Raven, just remember this: Your writing will suck. We all suck. My current novel sucks. Just keep writing it, push through the suckiness and finish. Then, edit. Slowly, your story will suck less and than it will be...good. Many famous authors tell people to learn how to suck, than you get better. Have faith! Practice is the only way to get better! :)

Thanks for the inspiration, even though that wasn't directed at me. I often look at writers that are so much better than me and feel just awful, like there is no way I could possibly write something half as good. It's a damper to my spirits, but I'm getting used to telling myself that I just have to practice, and eventually I'll get to where I want to be.

I also find that I write rather slowly. I think it's because I re-read and edit everything so much, when I really need to just let go and edit later. But even then, it takes me forever to write. Do you guys write quickly or do you also have trouble figuring out how to word what you want to say? Sometimes I have those moments where the story just comes to me, but most of the time I feel stumped.

But! Today I made a basic outline for a story I'm working on, and I feel like that really helped. I know where I want the story to go, I just have to work on not rushing it. Also, I'm writing a short story that I would really like to put up. It's the first story I've been able to sit down and really write, and it's coming along pretty smoothly. I think I find it easier to write this one because I feel like I can actually do it, since it's going to be short. So I think I'll want opinions on it soon, if anyone is willing(:

And Alda I totally understand what that's like. With siblings, there's always some sort of distraction. And if I go off into my room, my dad starts asking if I'm depressed -_- I hope you find a way to block out the distractions and are able to write. Perhaps listen to music? I find I have to listen to music when I write, especially if I need to get into the mood of the story. I have certain songs set aside for each story ^.^

4 siblings? I have 7... -_-
I'm also the middle child, so, either I'm watching the shrimps or being bossed around by the older ones XD

But yeah, sometimes I look at books and am like... "GRR! Why are you so good!"
And other times I'm like- "Really?! I could have written that better!!!"

XD So just focus on the latter

Hahaha xD I will admit I do sometimes do that. ^
7 certainly is a lot of siblings ^.^
Did I say four? I need to edit that, I meant 3, though four if you count me, and I do distract myself a lot of the time..
I actually have 6 siblings, but 3 of them don't live with us, so at least I don't have that many in the house.

And since it is New Years, I might as well say that my resolution is to finish a book. (:

Also, I think our mascot should be a deity or a collection of characters. I think a deity would be really cool, but I also love the idea of a bunch of different characters, as long as they are fairly well-known.
