It depends on the cat but I've noticed older cats tend to like wet food more than dry. And in general wet food is better for cats. But if you need to feed him dry I would mix it in with wet food.

I agree that wet food is better for cats, it mimics their natural diet much more closely, especially when considering moisture content.
My 14 year old kitty has always favored dry food over wet, despite our best efforts to feed her wet. The nice thing about the dry food is that she loves to eat about two bites of food at a time and come back 20 min later, so at least the dry doesn't go bad like wet Does. Cats are weird man, and I love them so much for it

i like tat about the dry as well. as Gary can't/won't eat a whole can in one sitting so then i'd wind up wasting food, and some of the food I get him can be almost 3$ a can, as things like Friskies don't do his alleged IBD good.(I have a list I try to keep)

Hhh everyone's introducing their cats so sweetly and I wanna hop on board :0

First up, the queen and coward fierce ruler of the household: Daisy (yes my accounts namesake pfft)
Image
She is like,, between nine and eleven now not too sure. My first ever cat and I absolutely adore her. She's kind of a cow - the only person she will interact with nicely is me, but I think that's just because we grew up together ;v; When she was little she was attacked outside so she's a little stiff in winter, but perfectly healthy otherwise! And she uh, still fears dislikes the kittens tbh.

Next up is Choux! (Pronounced Shoe, like Choux Pastry) We adopted her and her brother from the RSPCA and she was going to be renamed Astra, but we heard the name Choux and couldn't bear to change it- Ironically one of of her favourite things to do is sit on feet, and she had a rediculous obsession with sticks. She will actively ignore these kinds of toys in favour of attacking the stick it's attached to pffft. I don't have any pictures of it yet, because she has that wide eyed kitten wonder most of the time, but she has the grumpiest resting face ever. Frequent nicknames consist of Choux-boo, Socks and Disaster child 1. Image

And last but not least is Cosmo! He has two moods: Absolutely sweet little mummy's boy or utter demon wizard child, no in-between. He's a shoulder cat but he hasn't quite gotten the gist that you can't sit on someone's shoulder if you're going to rip their hair out while you sit there °-° He's a silly boy. Frequent nicknames consist of Cossy-boy, Cos, Disaster child 2 and Failed wizard boy.

And an honourable mention: Oldy (full name old fella) the really sweet elderly stray (believed to be abandoned) we've been taking care of outside for about a year now. Ever since we took him to the vet we stepped in for him and he likes to walk me home from school :>

I saw you commenting about trying to find food for him as well, and there are prescription foods for both thyroid issues and IBD, namely Hill's y/d and i/d. Trying these may help your cat out, and most vets either carry them, can order them, or can give you a prescription to get elsewhere. Medication will work the most to help, obviously, but a good food is extremely valuable.

Hill's sensitive helped for a while, then stopped. he did not like royal canin gastro. Gary will eat and shortly after "ppfrggggggggggggptf"
, making pudding in the litter pan.

I think its entirely preference. I feed my cats both wet and dry, one of them prefers the wet and the other prefers the dry.

my cats favorite thing in the entire world is wet food. she had a rough start to life so shes really nervous with new people... but as soon as the wet food can comes out, she will learn to love whoever is holding it!

she will still eat her dry food, its definitely not her favorite though. i tend to feed her dry food 5-6 days a week and wet 1-2 days a week. i never really mix it.
