they can be skittish, I find mine are but they just follow the other fish's lead when its feeding time, like they would run and hide but asoon as they notice the other fish eating then they would come out and eat too

The parameters are fine, the ph might be a little high, but my other fish are fine, i read somewhere that they can be acclimated to harder water, it just takes more time. Also only one seems to eat, and they're really skittish around my other fish so they don't come out to eat much. I have them in a net breeder so they can have a chance to eat and get more used to their tank mates.

For tanks(and bowls I assume) that are 1-4 gallons without a filter or live plants it is recommended to do at least 2 50% water changes (if you want to split that into smaller %s over more cleanings I'm sure that's fine too) as well as 1 100% clean. It's best to leave the betta in the tank during the partial water changes, and it is best to take the betta out in a cup for 100% changes and then slowly acclimatize it back to the water by adding small amounts of water over 10-15 minutes. You should then use your net to put the betta into the tank, not dump it into the tank. However you have to be careful not to overclean as you will have some bacteria in the gravel that are good for helping with the water filtration.

(This was based on research done with feeding good food, not over feeding (since a majority of water problems are from over feeding or poor quality foods and worked for this person over the years but of course each situation is different ^^)

I agree with this 100%

Got it! And thanks for not yelling at me :) I did tell my mom that the bigger the simpler, but she didn't respond. And comparing my odds to getting one, it would be a slim one.

My family move a lot, so when we're out the first thing I'm gonna do is locate the nearest petstore and arrange a time to buy "Proper" supplies (30 gal, test kit..).

XD no problem <3 we are here to try to help, not to criticize (least I am  ) There are lots of simple starter kits out there for tanks that are 3.5 - 5 gallons that aren't too expensive, considering what you get ^^

Good luck finding the tank and all that! You will see a big difference in the energy and life of your betta ^^ I know I did when I got my 3 boys home and out of those little cups into their 10 gallon tanks lol

Guys, my albino bristlenose pleco does not have any bristles. He hasn't since I got him. I'm starting to get suspicious. Maybe he's not actually a bristlenose? Do other pleco species come in albino/golden? Or maybe it's just because he is still only 2 inches long?

My goldys are chasing again! I got bored the other day, so I got out a clear plastic er.. Parsley jar (used.. lol woud beh funneh if der was shtil sum parslay innit) put a weight in it to keep it down, then got a pinch of fish food. Dropped it right down. Watching my fish try to eat it, it was so funny. Then one smart goldfish (technically, he shouldn't be called goldfish since he's white with red spots. Lol. Comet sounds better.) went in through the opening in the top and ate his fill. BEAT THAT! WHO SAID FISH WERE DUMB*** ANIMALS?!

This morning I was feeding them. Well they were chasing each other and occasionally ate a pellet or two when they were near the top. Clown got in the jar again, so I picked him up -jar an him- to get a closer view of him. I could see his insides, not clearly, just where the white parts are. Stomach, liver.. Intestines! lol yeah. So I had a thought, if my pregnant girl mated with this awesome Clown (my girl is just a boring orange. Neon orange, actually. Metallic, more like.) I should get some interesting offspring. Put the girl in, and sadly Clown ignored her. Put a chasing male in, the male continued to try and squeeze her, but Clown remained silent.. Dumped them all in, and the other boys started chasing her again.

They've been chasing her since morning, like 7 or 7.30. Not it's like 9.20 and they're still at it. While I got a close look of the girl, a few of her scales seems to be lighter than the rest, like they're almost falling off. Is that bad? And when I put in the chasing male, after a few minutes her gills turned white. Before, when she was with Clown, she was all orange, except for the orange spot on her tail. What does the white gills mean?

I have read that female bristle nose will have little to no bristles. But Im not very knowledgeable with them.

That does not seem normal... I would separate the female from the males for a few weeks. What is your water parameters?
Since I dont have much experience in breeding I suggest going here and asking in
Disease Diagnosis/ Treatments > Diagnosis & Discussion. Its a free forum for goldfish keeping. :)
http://www.kokosgoldfish.invisionzone.com/forum/

They are still goldfish no matter what colors they are. ;)

I put my snails in with my betta. Had an issue with the betta nipping the the snails so I took him out. Moved around the decor and he is less aggressive now.
