@eagle's flight - taxidermy is the art of mounting the hide of an animal onto an artificial base, commonly referred to as 'stuffing' an animal, though traditional taxidermy doesn't truly involve any stuffing. i hope to be a taxidermist myself some day, it's truly and awesome art form c:

@ heriotza - agreed. and even if the animal was killed due to hunting, at least it can still be appreciated in death rather than rotting away.

Just wondering.... What is taxidermy???

taxidermy is when you take the pelt/skin of an animal and "mount it". like when you see a deer's head mounted on a wall, that counts as taxidermy. there's also full body taxidermy, where the fur/skin is wrapped around a mold of the animal and given fake eyes, nose, and in some cases, mouth/teeth. they can be in creative poses. it's really a cool way to treasure an animal.

Look at that beautiful face. <3 xD
(JK. LOL, that's pretty terrible taxidermy, no offense.)

There's this really good taxidermist I used to watch on dA, let's see if I can find her. ouo

Oh, no. That's not fixxed!! You just screwed it all up!!

Hunting and trapping IS NOT humaine!! You're killing the animal for no good reason! Does it matter how you killed it, as long is it was for NO GOOD REASON?! It's a pelt. And pelts aren't needed. Now, if you use it as meat, what ever! But just the pelt?

No good reason to kill an animl for it's pelt.

And no. Wolves aren't over-populating us. We're over populating them. Humans take up so much space that animals are crammed into little areas, making their species seem over populated.

Also, again I would like to remind you; I am fine with using an animal after it's natural death, just not killing it to use.

1. hunting and trapping is perfectly humane
2. the meat, bones, organs, and everything else from the animal is almost always taken as well. it's almost always against the law to just take the pelt and throw out the body, actually.
3. meat is needed as much as fur is??
4.wolves are extremely overpopulated in many areas and how does saying humans are overpopulated justify letting them suffer?
no animal is killed legally 'just for its pelt'

also wait no i found a better picture guys here look at this i just can't

If that isn't art, then I don't know what is.

And people have told you many times it is for a reason to kill wolves, yet you choose not to listen. They are not killed just for their pelt, pelts are a byproduct. Wolves ARE overpopulated, and as humans it is our responsibility to control their population.

And tell someone living in Alaska or Antarctica pelts aren't needed. Tell us what their response is, k?

meat isn't needed either. your "pelt isn't needed but meat is" comparison makes no sense.

one thing is food that isn't necessary. one thing is warmth that isn't necessary.

"No good reason to kill an animl for it's pelt"

The pelt of a wolf can bring money to a starving family, for starters. What about fur, to keep you warm during the winter? Most hunters I know also use every part of the animal they can, and not using the pelt would be a waste.

Also, the entire human population could live quite comfortably inside the state of Texas. Just thought you should know that. No, wolves aren't "overpopulating us," but they are overpopulating in their ecosystems, and killing off all the elk.

Hunting and trapping CAN be humane, contrary to popular belief *coughcough wolfaboos coughcough*
Traps are actually DESIGNED to be humane to animals- by that, I mean killing them instantly so that they don't feel pain before they die, or not that much pain. It's easier to humanely kill with a gun, however. Let's just hope you have good aim and that you won't dislocate your shoulder while trying to shoot it.

agh i truly love their stuff
and to think that i almost got the most perfect bobcat from them. but my mother insisted on smoking before ordering it and like that, it was gone within a minute :/

also exactly what Heriotza said

but aside from conibears [fatal traps], footholds are also designed to be humane so that animals can easily be set free from them. they are completely humane and are simply like someone grabbing your wrist.
