But the one thing I want to make sure I get is a portrait horse made of my own horse. That's my grail.
I've done some looking around at different artists. It's all so overwhelming.
I also have no idea what model to use.

Same here! I've always wanted that also. All of the Hanoverians (as far as I know) are all in dressage poses, and my Hano and I always did the hunter/jumpers. I know there are people on etsy who will resculpt some Breyer molds but it depends on the mold and artist. So perhaps, if you have a mold or model you like, but wish it was in a different pose, you may have some luck there! I know most artists will add or subtract female/male bits, but I agree - it's a lot harder to find someone who can totally remold a Breyer.

I wouldn't even care of someone remolded the breyer lol while it would be cool, it gets really expensive. XD I just want the paint to look right.

I think one year a while back, for one of those "design our spring collector's edition" contests breyer put out, I tried to submit to them my own horse on the Idocus mold as my competition entry :P

Yeah, I saw that. Can't say I'm too thrilled. I love American Pharoah, but I don't think the Ruffian mold fits him. He'd look way better on Lonesome Glory or something similar... also the Ruffian mold is the worst shelf eater to date lol. I mean I like the Ruffian mold a lot, I had two on it, but it just takes up so much space! And American Pharoah is pretty lanky. Lonesome Glory is also already a stallion! Maybe I just like the Lonesome Glory mold a lot...

I don't like the Ruffian mold at all lol It doesn't fit on any shelf normally... XD
I was hoping he'd either be on Lonesome Glory or even Cigar. Those molds seem much thinner and lankier and more fitting.
Breyer just really likes that Ruffian mold I guess.

Agreed. And I don't even really like the Cigar mold but he'd look better on Cigar than Ruffian. And you'd think Breyer would choose a more cheaper-to-produce mold for something they know they are going to make a lot of like AP, and I can't imagine Ruffian, with the stand, size, metal leg peg, etc., would be that cheap to produce compared to something like Cigar or Lonesome Glory.

If anything, I think it'd be great if they got some use out of their newer Walking TB/Carrick mold, he'd look better on that, AND it's a new mold we haven't seen too much on yet- there hasn't even been a regular run on it yet, just Premiere, BF auctions and SRs, and a TSC late run- last year. Where is our regular run of Carrick lol- it's such a pretty mold, and would fit AP more than Ruffian.

Personally, I'm a bit surprised they didn't go for a new mold. Granted, I'm sure it takes a long time to produce, and they'd want to sell it now. Perhaps within the next few years they will.

I don't really understand why you are criticizing the appearance of a real thoroughbred? XD
They are making a portrait model of him because of what he accomplished, not because he's some flashy paint horse.
