joining in on the introductions! i'm vi, i'm a cs mod and pixel artist. i love deer horses and pixel art. participating in closed species makes me super nervous but... anything for the fables........

anyways this is my fable [url=fawn[/url]. i spent a while debating her name as i needed it to be perfect bc she is genuinely so beautiful and deserves nothing left. not sure if fawn will stick but we'll see!

i'm also seeking a partner for the winterspell nursery :3 i'm not super picky as all fables are gorgeous but i am partial to deer/horse patterned fables. feel free to pm me to match up (as i havent gotten a chance to check through this thread for potential matches since im at work :p)!

found a partner <3

    Hello,
    I have a question!

I want to make a decision regarding the recent twins nursery opening. This was a new thing for me, I've never really attempted combinations between designs like this, and I'm excited to make some cool new fables.

Please if you want, let me know your opinion. Keep all discussion constructive. In any future twins openings, would you prefer:
      - A user can have their fable involved in more than one potential pairing/be named in multiple forms.
      - A user should be limited to one potential pairing/can only be named in one form.
      -a secret third option???
Keep in mind that no one user or fable will ever have the chance to be chosen more than once during an opening, and no one user will be allowed to post more than one form during an opening.

If you have any suggestions for how I can improve my wording of the guidelines to help with any confusion, that is also welcome ^ ^

First of all, I wanted to apologise if I sounded harsh or stepped out of line in the nursery post I made.

While I do understand people plan multiple pairings, I think with how rare such an opening can be, it would be better to limit the amount of breedings a fable can be posted in to one per opening. This is to allow others to have a chance aswell, as technically if one pairing with the same fable is chosen, the other will be immediately voided, if that makes sense.

Therefor I choose to go for the option that a user can only be involved in one breeding at a time (per opening), to give everyone equal a chance and none of the pairings become auto-voided if a user/fable involved in multiple breedings is chosen.

Here's my thoughts...

Consider the following scenario:
I am using my slot with someone else's fable, I have agreed to post the form when there's an opening. At the same time, someone has also asked if they can use a slot to my fable because it's their favorite and they'd love to pair them up. They're going to post that form and let me know if/when it get accepted.

Now when the opening comes around, if a fable is only allowed to be posted once now I have to coordinate with the other person and if they only have one fable/breeding set up now there's a larger chance for bad feelings if I don't agree to doing that breeding next but they really want to.

I think that can be handled in a couple ways. The easiest, is do what you did before - with the note that no fable will be accepted twice. Yes, you might end up competing with your own fable, but at that point it's up to the artist and given how limited fable slots currently are it's only ever going to happen once.

Alternatively, have a part of the breeding agreement process be determining an order with more firm distinction between "first" and "second" slots. I'm not sure how well that would work out, but it's a thought.

i personally prefer the second option, with each user being limited to one potential pairing/being named in only one form ^^
i can see the appeal of both options, especially from an artist's POV (being able to pick between more options is always fun) !! as a user submitting forms, though, i think that allowing users to be included in multiple forms when only one form can be picked feels a bit unfortunate for their other partners (especially if they did not expect their partner to do multiple pairings)

if you choose to go with the first option instead, it could be cool to just ask/encourage users to disclose up front that they will be submitting multiple pairs when searching for partners, so that their partners are not unintentionally hurt if their form is voided due to an artist picking another pair! sort of a compromise between the two options

either way, thank you for running this little experiment !! i love the twins mechanic and can't wait to see the outcomes <3

I don't own any fables just yet so I don't know if I have to think about it as hard as those who do and are able to plan breedings with others but I thought I'd drop by to at least share my view on the issue :-)

personally, I think it makes more sense to limit one fable to one ticket at a time.
unfortunately because nursery slots are rare you may not be able to participate in the current nursery theme while it's still open, but I believe in the long run it would be less complicated for both the people involved and the artist going through the slots if each fable was limited to one ticket at a time.
that way, when the artist is scrolling through tickets and deciding they don't have to feel as bad if person A didn't get their ticket selected with fable A while person B did get their ticket selected with fable A.
it also should keep sour feelings away if two people were "promised" a breeding with one fable and then the other ticket with the favored fable involved gets picked instead of theirs.

I think it just makes it less complicated to leave it to a single fable per opening rather than multiple tickets in the same one, even if two different people post it.

so long as they can only be selected once I suppose it doesn't matter all that much, but like I said I think it just makes it less complicated overall to leave it at one ticket per fable.

that's my two cents, and hopefully everything I mentioned makes sense!
either way the nursery is a very fun area so I think no matter what people are still going to enjoy trying for a nursery slot! so many pretty designs to be seen yet!

    tl;dr
I agree with the second option more than the first.

Ultimately I think, this is the reason I would vote for "A user should be limited to one potential pairing/can only be named in one form."

The user who is linked in multiple pairings gets the benefit of better odds of getting a twin breeding, no matter the pairing chosen. While their partner (if they are not also in multiple breedings) will miss out if the popular user they chose to breed with is chosen in some other pairing, not with their fable.

I also worry that allowing a user to appear in multiple pairings will encourage users to offer their fable up to many different users, for better odds. That could make the twin breeding openings a little messy.

We only get one form when seasonal nursery slots open. I feel 1 form/1 mention per user for twin breeding is logical too.

I'm open to other opinions of course. This is just my thoughts with the process!

Adding onto my earlier post, after reading what others have said, I do think that limiting it to one entry per Fable per opening could be the better route - however I would still encourage brainstorming how to avoid the sort of thing I mentioned in my post (ie having two people disagree on when a given fable's first and second slot ought to be used).

I also meant to, but forgot, to say that I appreciate you opening the discussion! Fables have run really unique as a species thus far and I've really been enjoying them! I love to see the community growing around them, and the active troubleshooting being done to figure out how to run things more smoothly! <3

─────────────────────────────────────────────────────

ALSO AND UNRELATED....
I still would really like to find someone else to develop Fable lore with. So far I have no world/personality/lore ideas for my darlings, but I want to get really hands on with world building! I just don't really want to do it alone. Anyone care to combine fable worlds and make some lore with me?
Here's my two, but again no actual lore yet </3
